Lovely stay in a great hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Had a really fantastic stay at the Camiral with our teenage son and toy poodle. Beautiful hotel with relaxed atmosphere. Nicely appointed rooms and facilities. Pool was just the right temperature. Great selection at breakfast, a lounge bar with tapas and bistro food were all great. Super helpful that our dog was welcome to sit outside at restaurants and staff always gave her a fresh bowl of water without being asked. Our son played golf and said the facilities were super. A round came with a buggy for the day. Will definitely come back.

Nice hotel bad food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Room and property are beautiful. Golf excellent, Food service in the restaurant also excellent. But the food quality was terrible, especially soggy club sandwich. Room service was ordered for breakfast and arrived an hour late - too late to enjoy as we needed to leave for the airport. Staff apologetic but there is no excuse for that at a high end property.

Fantastic golf okay accommodation.

Had a great time here playing golf with a group of 16 of us. Stayed in the smaller La Vida hotel which was perfectly serviceable. Nowhere near as opulent as the main hotel. Food not as good either. Passable Luke warm breakfast but the cold stuff was nice. The golf was epic though. Loved both courses and felt like proper millionaires golf with very little waiting. Great layout and some proper standout holes. Struggled to decide which course we preferred playing as a group. Would definitely visit again.

Amazing golf resort destination

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This place is right up there as a destination for a European group golfing destination. We took a group of 20 golfers and stayed at the 4* LaVida hotel for 3 nights, playing 2 rounds on the amazing Stadium course and 1 round on the equally impressive Tour course. From the point of booking the trip the hotel service and support could not have been any better. Incredibly responsive for any enquiries, supporting on transfers etc and so welcoming on arrival. This carries through the resort from reception to the restaurants to the golf & wellness staff, understated but really proactive service - nothing is a bother for them, even with a group of middle age men! The LaVida hotel is simple but perfect for a group. Rooms are a little tight but nicely done, all with a balcony, space to store your clubs and really clean. The shower is the only oddity given I’d assume most guests are probably sharing a room on a golf trip with a weird curtain that divides the room rather than behind a door. Food is excellent. Breakfast at LaVida simple but good. We ate lunch and dinner at the golf clubhouse which was really good, and dinner at the Bistro in the 5* hotel which was excellent and at €55 half board Inc wine, amazing value. There is a small pool at the LaVida, but you have to pay €15 to use the spa/pool/gym at the main hotel which is excessive and not clear at booking. Gym is good with weights, cardio and yoga space. Pool is outside and beautiful, 20 minutes from Girona which seems like a lovely town. We ate at Txalaka and had great ponchos/tapas - recommended. Golf setup is world class. Courses, practice facilities, clubhouse and staff all amazing. Golf shop is extortionate, buy your stuff beforehand! Overall, amazing resort destination for golfers. Will definitely be back.

Really good hotel but spa off limits unless you pay €50 fee or have a treatment. Stadium course great, Tour good.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Really good Hotel and breakfast. Wellness/Spa is off limits unless you are willing to pay €50 per person per hour, or book a Spa treatment. This was very disappointing as would have enjoyed the spa after golf. Was there with my sister as a 50th birthday treat and assumed the Spa would be included in a 5* hotel but it only allows guests for free if it is quiet. Outside pool too cold this time of year and therefore maybe Spa should be accessible during the winter months as otherwise the facilities are limited to bar and restaurants, and not much else to do for non golfers. Otherwise the golf was good and the stadium course was great. The clubhouse staff were very hospitable and well organized. Staff attentive although maybe could be more proactive. We booked a Padel court for a game, but nobody let us know that we needed to collect bats and access to gain entry. Girona is only 30mins away by car and Barcelona about 1 hour 20 away when roads quiet. Car hire therefore useful. Girona worth a visit and doesn’t have the tourist influx that Barcelona has. Overall really good hotel significantly let down by Spa entry cost, which I can understand when outdoor pool is open but in winter it would have made this hotel a 5* review. Golf really good but for non golfers I think you will be disappointed.
