About the Hotel

A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

Lovely Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We just spent a night here for my wife's birthday. It's a bit of a walk up a hill from Central Station but it was well worth it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The staff in and around reception were all very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Our room on the 4th floor was very well equipped, comfortable with a nice modern bathroom. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but had breakfast the following morning. The freshly cooked breakfasts we had were superb and there was a great range of quality items available from the buffet. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in a quality hotel and will look to return on our next visit to Glasgow.

Unacceptable

I had an afternoon tea before a visit to the theatre . I used to frequent the hotel on a regular basis either using the spa or dining there. I’ve not been for a few years , but what a difference ! Shabby carpets , inattentive staff, boring sandwiches , which are a cop out now as so many upmarket places use their imagination and offer alternatives to cheap white bread with some cream cheese and cucumber.Scones were lovely , but certainly not dainty and the cakes were awful. I had them boxed up , but they went in the bin the next day. I’m not sure if it’s because I had a voucher and that’s not as acceptable? I still paid a lot for a not great experience and was so disappointed how standards have slipped. The hotel is in a lovely spot with some fabulous buildings , but not a patch on what it was I have afternoon teas regularly and I am perhaps spoilt after visiting a retired tennis stars place in Perthshire . Wow!

Comfortable

The Kimpton ought to be very proud of its kind caring efficient hard working young staff , the backbone to the running of a corporate hotel .. shout out to John Chloe and Chelsea and a thank you for taking such very good care of us . The room over looking the park was spotless again fabulous work ethics there …the bed was scrumptious ..the tea making facilities were a bit boring .. this is though a 5 star hotel and one would expect more . The spa was confusing and much smaller than I had imagined for a hotel boasting its spa . Not a lot to say there .. except the staff were again lovely and friendly The restaurant we didn’t try other than a bland tasteless sandwich. It seemed as if the restaurant was short staffed , again the staff worked hard to keep it running as smoothly as they could . So here’s the thing all in all well done staff for all your extremely hard work . There was something I couldn’t put my finger on that wouldn’t make me rush back.

We went to celebrate my husband‘s birthday and the hotel exceeded in our expectations in every way. Kara made sure that they knew it was his birthday, see the picture. Our room was excellent and every meal we had in the restaurant was delicious. The spa was fantastic. They had so many different types of rooms, including a salt room and an ice room. It made my time there are so much fun. There isn’t anything that I could say, in any way, that wasn’t marvelous. If you’re ever in Glasgow, definitely stay here.
