A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

After reading Brian M's review dated January 2026 (Unacceptable) I feel angry! Myself and three daughters had afternoon tea on 7th February 2026 and experienced exactly the same issues that were in the previous review which were - "boring sandwiches , which are a cop out now as so many upmarket places use their imagination and offer alternatives to cheap white bread with some cream cheese and cucumber. Scones were lovely , but certainly not dainty and the cakes were awful. I had them boxed up , but they went in the bin the next day." Only in our case the scones were horrible too and were stale and the cream was so hard it would not spread on the scones. The response from the Guest Relations was - "Your comments regarding the presentation and creativity of the sandwiches, as well as the cakes, have been taken on board and will be shared directly with our culinary and service teams for review." So since the previous review in January nothing has changed and you are still serving sub-standard afternoon tea which at £49 each I feel really cheated! I personally enjoy afternoon tea and have frequented quite a few lovely establishments and received beautiful food at half the price you charge. I wanted to email you direct with my issues but could not find contact details on your website.

My friend received a voucher from her kids for her birthday and luckily she chose me as her plus 1. I’m a firm believer in only getting one chance to make a first impression and this hotel certainly delivered. I’ve read a few comments about young inexperienced staff and although we saw no obvious sign of inexperience, without exception staff were helpful, courteous and happy to spend 5 minutes to chat to their guests. You can train people on processes but you can’t “train” a naturally positive attitude and they were a credit. Special thanks to the charming and professional chap at reception, the lady who served us with our complimentary wine at happy hour and our server at dinner (on a media and film course) all of whom we had lovely interactions with. I completely understand the negative comments about the spa being at capacity and people having to wait but the hotel wasn’t busy so we had no issues. There are also reviews about voucher guests being treated differently. I’ve been fortunate to be able to stay in a fair few 5 star hotels in my well earned retirement and not for a second did we feel we were not valued and I can definitely say this hotel can hold its own with the best of them.

Really disappointing experience with a voucher for stay with B&B, dinner, prosecco and use of the thermal suite. The voucher was valid only on Friday and despite there being rooms available on the website to book, the "allocation for voucher bookings had been exhausted" for the dates we were available. The option of going on a Thursday offered by the hotel didn't work for us due to childcare. The voucher has been refunded but it has left a very bad taste and I'd encourage those considering buying a voucher to think carefully if you don't have a lot of flexibility.

Kimpton Blysthwood Spa was amazing, the treatments were phenomenal and the spa facilities are exactly what you’d want for a 5 star experience. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially Alex, Olivia & Leanne! Thank you!

We just spent a night here for my wife's birthday. It's a bit of a walk up a hill from Central Station but it was well worth it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The staff in and around reception were all very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Our room on the 4th floor was very well equipped, comfortable with a nice modern bathroom. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but had breakfast the following morning. The freshly cooked breakfasts we had were superb and there was a great range of quality items available from the buffet. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in a quality hotel and will look to return on our next visit to Glasgow.
