About the Hotel

A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

Reviews for Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel

Good stay but could of been much more better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The reason for my rating is because when booking we were hoping to use the spa facilities a lot during our stay , we paid , checked in , only to find out after you are restricted to use them 0700-0900 & 1700-1900 which when you pay £300 per night you at least hope to use swimming pool etc when you can during the day as well The hotel is lovely , concierge what a gent . The lady on spa reception very rude, unhelpful . It’s little things like that are frustrating & the reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars We even checked out earlier than we should of because they didn’t tell us of the restrictions on use of facilities

This is not a 5 star luxury hotel.

Despite being the only hotel in Glasgow to come up as 5 star in Glasgow this is certainly not 5 star by international standards. I think the 5 stars are awarded by the Scottish Tourist Board, which clearly doesn’t have high standards. Having just come from another Kimpton and IGH hotel I was exceptionally disappointed. Rooms were small and extremely noisey. We could hear everything from the room above and to the side, including closing doors, walking around, talking. Similarly noise of outside traffic and corridor noise. Led to poor nights sleep and overall stay. Food was awful. Low quality ingredients at breakfast, poor, slow service and cold breakfast buffet items were not being restocked often having to revisit buffet several times just to get an item. Hot food was terrible. In dining offerings were also poor. Restaurant needs a major overhaul!

Wonderful stay with Exceptional Service!

We recently stayed at the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel and had a truly lovely experience. We arrived very late at night and were given a smaller room overlooking an inner courtyard with some ventilation noise. It wasn’t quite what we expected, but the staff were incredibly polite and immediately promised to help us the next day. Even though the hotel was fully booked, they managed to find us a larger, brighter room and even moved all our luggage while we were out exploring — such thoughtful service! Every single member of the team, from the reception and breakfast room to the hotel entrance, was warm, professional, and genuinely eager to make our stay special. The hotel’s entrance and restaurant are absolutely stunning, and the overall atmosphere is both elegant and welcoming. We were very happy with our stay and will definitely return. And don’t miss the complimentary wine happy hour — such a charming touch!

Disappointed

The positives Staff lovely in all parts of hotel Room very comfortable and clean. Bed amazing and lots of space Location - very quiet but close to centre Some gripes No food available in restaurant after 9. Spa not available when you want to use it (it’s advertised as a spa hotel?). Only available to house guests at odd times. Bar is cold and unwelcoming. Breakfast buffet not replenished so lots of gaps by 9.30am Poor value

Luxury and Comfort 10/10

Just back from a lovely weekend, this was our second time staying and it was just as good. The service is always impeccable. Special shoutout to the guy working the bar on Sat 18th Night with longer curly hair and to Elaine in the Spa. The spa here is unlike any other - pure luxury.
