About the Hotel

A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

Great staff and venue for drinks reception

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The staff here were outstanding. Sep and the team were so progressional and helpful, as we were hosting a reception that day after the fire our numbers were low and the team were so accommodating helping us adapt our setup. I’d really recommend this venue for a drinks reception.

An absolute MUST if you’re staying in Glasgow

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I stay here regularly for business. I have been coming here for at least eight years now and every time it never fails to wow me. From the concierge service carrying my bags in from the car to the reception desk being super helpful and friendly. This time in particular has been outstanding. I arrived at 4 pm and the concierge walked over to my car to greet me and carry my bags into the reception for me. Check-in was smooth, easy and super friendly. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and immaculate. I have travelled around the world and stayed in many many hotels all around the world and this is up there with one of the best hotels and staff I have ever come across. It’s the small things that makes such a big difference the cold water in the fridge in the gym, the access to the beautiful spa, the bedrooms are always Immaculate and the food. Wow, the food. Tonight I was served by Sam he was a phenomenal waiter who knew the menu inside out and gave recommendations for accompanying drinks. He asked questions regarding my food preferences and tastes. This then enabled him to make recommendations to suit what he thought I would like which by the way was absolutely outstanding. I have eaten in Michelin star restaurants that have not tasted half as good as this food does here. It is exceptional. Sam was friendly and chatty. Nothing seemed rushed or that he was trying to move onto the next table. As a solo traveller somebody that works away and sits on her own a lot at restaurants it was lovely to have a genuine conversation with somebody. He is an absolute credit to this Hotel and although he isn’t on shift tomorrow when I am here again, he said he was going to leave his dessert recommendations and paired wines written down behind the bar for me to remember tomorrow as I was too full tonight to have a desert. Again time and time again, I am more impressed with the level of service and care that goes into looking after guests here at this hotel Genuinely, nothing compares. Thank you so much Blythswood for always being so accommodating.

Fabulous pre Christmas chill out stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My partner and I had a wonderful nights stay at this hotel a couple of weekends before Christmas to celebrate his birthday. Our room was directly above reception and the main entrance overlooking Blythswood Square gardens. We had full size floor to ceiling windows and arm chairs where you could sit and watch the world (and rain) go by in complete cosy comfort. The bed was huge and super comfy. There was a bath between the bedroom and shower room where you could relax and watch tv from. I enjoyed a soak after breakfast the next day. The room was very spacious and felt luxurious in all fittings and fixtures. Complimentary mini bar and great coffee machine were lovely touches. We enjoyed a beautiful meal in the restaurant and excellent service from the staff there before being truly pampered experiencing all the different treats in the spa. The spa was busy but not overcrowded and got quieter as the night progressed. The snow shower was a fun, unique attraction. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful choice and well organised. We both ordered cooked freshly prepared dishes which were excellent. Again service was brilliant. Hopefully we will be back next December

Getting to speak to anyone at the spa is mission impossible.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Blythswood Spa seems incapable of picking up a telephone. This is not a one-off thing. We have visited several times over the past 10 years, but actually getting to speak to someone is almost impossible. We would not ally book online but a voucher code we have is not working so need to speak to someone to resolve it. Tried at different times and through different channels but no joy. Such frustrating customer service.

Angry!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

After reading Brian M's review dated January 2026 (Unacceptable) I feel angry! Myself and three daughters had afternoon tea on 7th February 2026 and experienced exactly the same issues that were in the previous review which were - "boring sandwiches , which are a cop out now as so many upmarket places use their imagination and offer alternatives to cheap white bread with some cream cheese and cucumber. Scones were lovely , but certainly not dainty and the cakes were awful. I had them boxed up , but they went in the bin the next day." Only in our case the scones were horrible too and were stale and the cream was so hard it would not spread on the scones. The response from the Guest Relations was - "Your comments regarding the presentation and creativity of the sandwiches, as well as the cakes, have been taken on board and will be shared directly with our culinary and service teams for review." So since the previous review in January nothing has changed and you are still serving sub-standard afternoon tea which at £49 each I feel really cheated! I personally enjoy afternoon tea and have frequented quite a few lovely establishments and received beautiful food at half the price you charge. I wanted to email you direct with my issues but could not find contact details on your website.
