About the Hotel

A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

Reviews for Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel

Stylish Luxury with a Warm Glaswegian Soul

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 hours ago

I stayed at the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel and was genuinely impressed. The location is ideal — central yet peaceful, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and Glasgow’s cultural spots. The building itself is stunning, with elegant Georgian architecture and a modern interior that feels both luxurious and welcoming. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and full of thoughtful touches. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom had a spa-like feel. Speaking of spas — the hotel’s spa is a real highlight. The thermal experience, pool, and relaxation areas are perfect after a day exploring the city. It’s one of the best urban retreats I’ve come across. Dining at iasg, the seafood restaurant, was a treat. Fresh, sustainable ingredients, great service, and a lively atmosphere made for a memorable evening. The complimentary wine hour in the lounge was a lovely surprise and added to the relaxed, friendly vibe. Staff were consistently warm, professional, and helpful. Whether it was arranging taxis, offering local tips, or just a friendly chat, they made the experience feel personal. Overall, Kimpton Blythswood Square combines five-star luxury with genuine Scottish hospitality. Highly recommended for couples, solo travelers, or anyone looking to treat themselves in Glasgow.

Some nice elements but very disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Very nice lobby. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Good sleep. Quiet room. Excellent included breakfast. Booked 1 room from their own website, but due to their admitted 'system error' they charged me for 2. When I brought that to their attention it still took 5-7 days for the refund of their error, and then the exchange rate differential left me paying over $100.00 Canadian for their error. When I emailed their commercial team about the cost of their error they ignored that. When I arrived at the hotel the receptionist spoke to the manager who still had NO SUGGESTION as to how to deal with the cost of their error until something vague about after I was heading to London. I suppose it was good they didn't suggest a spa credit. My prebooked spa treatment was cancelled last minute with no opportunity on their end to rebook before my departure. The offer of 2 free hours of spa access wasn't particularly meaningful since the room rate includes 5 hours a day. This place has some nice elements but very disappointing. Sometimes you might have $100.00 picked from your pocket but sometimes it is more direct (with a further differential on the cancelled spa treatment to come?). I suggest try somewhere else.

Hotel on the quieter side of city centre

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The hotel does not arrange airport transfer. Check-in is reasonably quick and they require upfront full payment. Conveniently located in the city centre and 5 mins walk from Buchanan Street. The room and bathroom are standard size with amenities and mini bar. The floor was not properly cleaned on day 1 and on day 3, housekeeping left a blob of dust and hair which o had to clean up. Housekeeping appears to be understaffed or inefficient. Exoect to walk through corridors with laundry and overnight dinner trays. There is only one restaurant that serves 3 meals. Breakfast includes buffet of pastries and fruits with a menu selection of hot dishes. Spa offers facial and body treatments. A 55 min massage is £110. The gym is probably the worst facility - the space is good for 1 with dated equipment and no treadmill. Concierge is not always around to help and communication with front desk can be quite disorganized. Whatever you need ensure you confirm.

Nice Central location in Glasgow

Nice hotel and very centrally located. We visited while Spiderman was being filmed nearby. Rooms are fairly standard IHG layout, nice bathroom. Parking is a bit of a pain so we took advantage of valet parking which quick and efficient.
