A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

This review is for thermal spa experience. This was now the fourth time myself and husband have attended for the thermal experience and this was the biggest let down. When you walk in to reception there is no welcoming spa smell - normally you would be treated with soothing, calming scents but there was nothing. We checked in and were shown down to the lockers which was all fine. We then entered the thermal experience which was quite busy. Some loungers had been left with towels and were never used. Others were taken by the same people for the full two hours - there is 6 possibly 8 loungers. We had forgotten to take out water bottles so luckily there was a water fountain and glasses. The glasses provided were infact glass so you couldn’t take them with you. The glasses also looked like they had seen better days and were very scratched and scraped. Again as with the spa reception the spa itself had no nice scents. I had been in the steam room on previous visits and there had been a menthol smell there was nothing this time. We went in the salt room and were baffled - not sure if we had missed something, or the point but it was just a room on the colder side again with no scents etc. A couple of people when we were in were clearly not there for a calming experience as they were so loud. And there was one member of staff who was keeping the spa area clean who clearly had no interest in being there - no smile, hello etc she We had the afternoon tea in the spa lounge which was lovely. All in all it was not the experience we expected or that you pay for.

We had a great stay. The staff were so friendly and our room was very well appointed. I especially appreciated the larger US king size bed vs. a UK king, and that the hotel provided wash clothes which in our experience are not commonly provided in Scotland. The location is about a 10 min walk down to all of the hustle of the city center, which was fine by us as our room was super quiet. Breakfast was also great.

Beautiful hotel with large rooms and huge bathrooms. Excellent bar with free happy hour wine in the afternoons. Outstanding service.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel. It is beautiful inside and out and the gardens are charming! The location is fantastic, so close to the city centre but is in a quiet area. The room was luxurious and very comfortable and clean. The service was great, food and drinks excellent and everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was definitely value for money and if I ever stay in Glasgow again it is the only hotel I would consider.
