Reviews for Stamford Grand Adelaide

A lovely hotel in a lovely area.

Back to the Stamford for our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a City View room (6th floor) looking right over the tram, which was really nice, and its noise didn't invade the room. We could still see the jetty standing at the bay window, too. The room itself hasn't changed from our first visit, really. It could do with a bit of brightening up, as the colour scheme is what makes it feel dated., but it was perfectly comfortable. The lobby area is stunning, though, because being 'dated' suits it perfectly. The lift area and the staircase are photogenic. Having said that, the location is wonderful. It's right beside the jetty, the tram, and lots of restaurants, cafes and shops within the first 2 blocks. We were there on a wild, windy day, and it was still nice to see the crashing waves. Having the tram just outside the door is SO convenient. We went to the Railway Museum in Port Adelaide, which was simply riding the tram to the end, then into the train station and riding to the end again to Port Adelaide. So easy! (And worth the visit, btw.) Our breakfast was part of our deal. $25 a head is a bit steep, but the foods offered made it worthwhile. Eggs, pancakes, tomatoes, bacon, cereal, pastries, beverages, fruit...... you get the idea, there was plenty to choose from, and really, it's probably just as much to eat at a nearby cafe. And the day we left, we didn't even stop anywhere for lunch as we were contentedly full. :) So, yes, the rooms need to be brightened up to be fully enjoyed, but overall it's still a beautiful hotel in a beautiful spot, worth the stay.

Iconic hotel once the gem now grim and in need of a bit of TLC. Unable to see Adelaide from our room due to dirty window

This iconic building once the gem of Adelaide is in need of some TLC. The Stamford Grand needs a refresh. We were unable to see the view from our 8th floor hotel room due to the dirt on the windows. Pillows were huge and had very little give - feather pillows would have been welcomed. The location is stunning. Such a grand building in its time sadly now a little tired and overworked. I love the promenade breakfast room view and the light fittings are just stunning. However, the floor and furniture could do with a nice refresh with some big ferns and came furniture. That room could be stunning. Lovely staff, all very helpful and kind.

Great value for money

Very good value for money in a lovely beachside setting. Not the most modern of rooms but comfortable and very spacious and align with what I paid for the stay via company preferred booking platform.

Great Place to Stay in Adelaide

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Had an excellent stay at the Stamford Grand. The rooms, bathrooms, and pool area have all seen some great renovations, with the pool now heated — a fantastic improvement. Housekeeping staff were friendly and attentive, especially Mai, who did a wonderful job looking after room 912. The hotel’s location in Glenelg is unbeatable, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. Keep up the great work!

Levi Gigin is an absolute asset to the hotel. Excellent customer service, such care. He surpassed all other staff in just the way he helped with the luggage and access to the change room. Thank you Levi!!
