Great central location, helpful staff and great facilities. Room was quite spacious, bed very comfortable, complimentary bottled water provided daily.

Good but...

The room was clean and bed relatively comfortable but quite pricey and no breakfast included. Staff/reception was friendly. Just note they take prepayment of $200 on your card when arriving.

sub standard for the price.

The cleanliness of the room was below what was expected for something we paid nearly $300 a night for and the breakfast was also not to the standard we were expecting, we have stayed in third world countries that were higher standard at a much lower cost.

Night in Glenelg

Very poor service in the Promenade restaurant and bland food. Had to wait over an hour for poor food even thought the restaurant was not busy. The room and the hotel itself was very nice.

Nothing ‘grand’ about the Grand

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

When you book a hotel with “Grand” in the name, you expect a certain level of care, quality, and presentation. Unfortunately, the Stamford Grand Glenelg doesn’t quite live up to its title. In the lead-up to my stay, I was contacted multiple times to confirm whether my multiple room bookings were a mistake. Once should have been enough - I’d already clarified, but I kept receiving follow-ups that felt unnecessary. Arriving at the property didn’t inspire confidence. Driving into the carpark felt like pulling into a dim alleyway where anything could happen. The building and its surrounds are undeniably dated, and one of the main ‘rotating’ entry doors has clearly been out of action for a long time. First impressions weren’t exactly “grand.” Check-in itself was efficient, but the room was underwhelming. The windows were dirty, the furnishings sparse, and there was nothing about the décor that matched the hotel’s name. It also seems the property hasn’t kept up with modern sustainability practices….small single-use bottles of amenities are still provided, and oddly, the shampoo, shower gel, and lotion were three different brands, giving a sense of inconsistency rather than care. To be fair, the view from the room overlooking the pier was lovely, and the food at the downstairs bar was quite good. Staff were generally pleasant, which is a positive. That said, this property, like some of its sister hotels clearly needs significant investment and refurbishment. For the price and the brand, you’d expect more. In Glenelg, you’ll likely find better value and a fresher experience at smaller, less “big name” properties.
