It was clear that the hotel is more about style than substance when the welcome email several days prior to check-in featured the wrong guest name, despite me being a Brilliant member. That being said, the issue was resolved with sincere apologies and our welcome package (wedding anniversary) was very well done and the room was beautiful, with an excellent ocean view. The balcony was a special feature of the Suite (1204) however the sliding door was only able to be opened with great effort, initially by a member of staff. We arrived late afternoon after a longish journey, so decided on room service rather than going out. Unfortunately our Brilliant membership did not, unlike many other "luxury" chains, provide any form ofdiscount for room service. This is surprisingly important, as the prices were eye watering by any standard. The club sandwich seemed reasonable choice until the Panini was found to be almost inedible due to its staleness. My wife's crab and noodle soup ($44) was incredibly bland and featured noodles so fused together they could not have been stirred. At breakfast the next day we asked it there was an a la carte option and were told no..........only to find a card on the table advising an a la carte eggs/omelette option ha ha, That being said, the breakfast is very good if included in the room rate. The room cleaning was an experience, with used water, tea coffee and wine glasses often not replaced. The Health Club and indoor pool are fantastic and could not be faulted in any reasonable way. T'ang Court was closed during our stay, however the reviews suggest that the food quality and service in no way match its HK sistert, which is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. Overall, I found our Junior Suite room quite beautiful and spacious and value for money. That impression was more than offset, however, by the malfunctioning balcony door, the patchy service and the dire room service. Due to contracting a virus during our stay, we were more reliant on RS than normally would be the case. The staff were almost all very enthusiastic and helpful, however there is an apparent lack of training which makes the claims of a luxury experience immediately fatuous and quite comical. The final reminder of this was our departure, where we had to point out a Brilliant discount not having been applied to an eligible in-house restaurant and assurances that the underground garage door would open automatically open upon departure. It didn't.

Luxuriously appointed hotel, on the beach, superb facilities and professional but friendly staff. Excellent location, sitting right on the beach.

After having visited over 30 countries in a little over 30 years, I’ve not yet found a more professional, five star establishment. From the fibres of the linen to the twinkle in the eyes of the professional reception staff, everything, and I mean everything, makes you feel like royalty. I will compare every other residence I visit globally to the Langham in terms of perfection. They can make three days feel like three weeks!
