We have initially booked 5 nights in the hotel given the good reviews… but unfortunately we had to shorten it to 2 nights given a very rude and unprofessional waitress during our arrival lunch meal. The issue was that the dining area is very warm, and the waitress said you can’t open the windows because of the flies (and we already had a bunch of them there) When we opened the window to get some fresh air she came running, closed it; and told us that we’re trying to make fun of her! So basically we had to tolerate the heat, the flies, and the also the rude waiteress behavior. Nela I guess was her name. When we reached out to the management to share our experience during lunch time, the management was more focused on defending the behavior of the staff (saying that she’s still young and unexperienced) vs trying to correct what happened. When I mentioned to the owner that given this unacceptable behavior from the waitress and lack of corrective actions from the management, we consider shortening our stay; her reaction was yes plz do so. So this gave us the confirmation that the hotel management had no customer care culture nor practices. Although the location is great and some of the staff is friendly, but our experience was unfortunately bad that we wanted to share this experience with future travelers for you to know that you either have to accept their rules or get out!! Which is at the Opposite of the Hospitality business core value. The rooms are clean, but the pillows aren’t comfortable. They have a very nice spa. And the food is also good. But they need to put some flies net otherwise you won’t enjoy any meals because the flies are basically everywhere.

Some rooms don't have air conditioning or fans and so you must keep windows and doors open at all times meaning it gets bright in the room at 6 am and you constantly hear people outside talking or cars driving by at all hours. Our experience was not good would recommend staying elsewhere.

As a very frequent traveler I rarely find the time or inclination to write a review, not least because increasingly hotels around the world are becoming cloned and devoid of personality. The Aspen is exceptional. Firstly, the staff are, without exception, professional, attentive and respectful. The service throughout our stay was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble for any of the team. The hotel itself is wonderful, with an outstanding restaurant and chef(s). The suite we were allocated was delightful and very well equipped. Last but not least, the location is breathtaking, with views over the valley and the North Face of the Eiger. I plan to return in the summer and will no doubt return to ski again next year. Thank you. NU
