Reviews for Gstaad Palace Hotel

Pure fairy-tale vibes and legendary service, but the food and extra costs will dent your wallet

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

If you have ever wanted to feel like you are staying in a literal castle in the Swiss Alps, this is the place. Perched right on the hill overlooking Gstaad, the building itself is stunning and the mountain views from the balconies are unbelievable. It has that rare, historic, old-world glamour that you just can't replicate in a modern resort. The service here is where they earn their reputation. It’s family-owned, and you can tell the staff takes genuine pride in the place. From the free train station pickup to the lobby lounge team, everyone handles you with total warmth and absolute professionalism—you are treated like royalty whether you pull up in a rented sedan or a chauffeured Bentley. The spa is a massive highlight too; the indoor and outdoor pool setups are gorgeous, and spending time there after a long day out in the mountains was incredibly relaxing. The rooms are beautiful, classic, and genuinely cozy with excellent beds, though some of the updated designs lean a bit safe and beige compared to the grand, dramatic style of the common areas. So why a 4-star review instead of a perfect 5? The food and beverage pricing is where things get a bit eye-watering, even for Swiss luxury standards. The hotel uses a system where you get a mandatory resort credit for dining, but the menu prices are so heavily calibrated that the credit vanishes almost instantly. While restaurants like La Fromagerie have an incredible atmosphere, the actual value for what you pay on food and drink feels stretched. Also, a minor detail, but the evening dress code is enforced quite strictly in the main areas (jackets required for men in the evening)—which is fine if you like to dress up, but it can feel a bit rigid if you just want a casual, laid-back evening after a long day of travel. It is a legendary, bucket-list alpine experience with unmatched hospitality, but just keep a close eye on your dining tab and plan for the extra expenses.

Best Concierge team in the world!

This is the classic hotel of the town. Located up on a hill, a short easy walk into the town if you feel like it if not the hotel has many mini vans that will take you down and pick you up. You do not feel a grand arrival. It feels old and classic. There are old and new rooms. I guess it depends on the price point but I have heard they are all going to refreshed this winter. The hotel was clean. Housekeeping very fast. A little spotty at times like leaving a trash can on the bath tub. A little noise from the disco. Service was great. Especially the concierge. You give in your room key like an old fashioned movie. The Concierge really helped my first visit to town, especially Julien . Excellent! The yoga class was great. The spa team lovely. The gym had a nice large window and light and the pools are large. Breakfast was fresh and lovely and the tea lounge a classic goi too!

My Husband and I stayed at Gstaad Palace for 3 nights to celebrate my 40th Birthday earlier this Month. I am still overwhelmed at how truly special this Hotel is and the Exeptional service we received from the second we booked to the second we left. We were upgraded on arrival to a Mountain Veiw Cosy room and i was actually in tears at how Stunning the room and Veiw was , and what a lovely suprise to have a bottle of Champagne on ice in the room for us! The cleanliness of the hotel os 10/10 The staff are so welcoming, polite and helfpul, always with a smile on their face . The food is 5* annd i especially enjoyed the breakfast in Le Grand every morning, with stunning veiws of the snowy Mountains! The Spa is the most luxurious i have ever been to, an experience like no other. I have fallen in love with Gstaad Palace , and want to thank all the staff for such an unforgettable experience.
