Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

We think this the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Best location in Hanoi central in the old quarter and in walking distance of central attractions. The rooms were very good and spacious with everything thoughtfully provided and Comfortable beds. The food was very good with a very good selection of food to suit all tastes. Service was extremely good and staff friendly. Nice pool with nearby bar.

Very nice historic hotel and a very good location. It was the perfect start to our Vietnam trip. Daphne was amazing and organized everything we wanted. We had booked opera wing rooms with lounge access and after realizing the opera wing is under construction, they offered us a free change to the heritage wing with access to the better lounge. The hotel deals with anything very high professional! The ground tour of the hotel is a must!

Absolutely fantastic hotel nothing is too much trouble .The front desk staff and concierge were extremely helpful and housemaids did a wonderful job. The hotel is beautiful and very colonial looking , I m very impressed with this hotel , if I was to come back to Hanoi I would definitely stay here again. Little bit of advice cards are not accepted in as many places as you d think so always have cash on you ,I ve been caught out a couple of times so beware.

The hotel already bears the word "Legend" in its name and is, in the truest sense of the word, legendary: The hotel is absolutely iconic. A beautiful, historic hotel in a prime, central location, just a short walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter. The rooms are tastefully furnished. Both the Bamboo Bar and Angelina boast impressive interiors. The cocktails and food were excellent. The breakfast buffet was outstanding; the best breakfast of our three-week trip to Vietnam and one of the best I have ever enjoyed in my life. The butler service was exceptional.

Lets get the negative out of the way. Stayed in room 139 from 12th to 15th. There was an loud pounding noise on Sunday throughout the afternoon for 2 to 3 hours. Practically shock the whole building every minute or so. Unacceptable for a hotel of this stature and at this price point to knowingly subject its guests to experience. Huge oversight by the management to allow this level of construction / refurbishment while the building is being occupied by paying guests. 1/5 That aside, everything else went pretty well. Painless check in experience and escorted by the reception staff to the room, who meticulously explain everything inside the room. Experience with staff throughout the stay match the same high standard. Room itself was upto expections. Received an upgrade due to Accor Gold status. Patronised Angelina for drinks a couple of times. A great place to get a pre-drink or two, with very generous happy hour promo. 5/5 Lunch at the French restaurant. The set menu was good value for money and the wines by the glass were reasonably priced for a 5* hotel. Pacing was quite slow. Ok for me as I was on vacation. But a bit too slow for anyone who wants to have a quick business lunch. 4/5 Breakfast experience was probably one of the weaker points in F&B. The spread was quite limited possibly owing to the limited space. Quality of the food was adequate, but not mind blowing. The weakest was the cenfections/dessert section, this was a rather generic mix of offerings of sub par quality. Soggy waffles n pancakes tucked in corner of the egg station pretty much sums it up. Definitely not up to Sofitel standard. The really bright spot was again the staff, who was always out there to help anyway they can. 4/5 In summary, it is probably the best place to stay in Hanoi as long as you clear away from renovations / refurbishments. Call the hotel to make sure you are not impacted.
