I had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi. The interior has a beautiful classic French charm, and the hotel is ideally located in an active and safe neighborhood. It’s close to shopping areas, transportation, and major tourist attractions. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the service was exceptional. Breakfast was also a wonderful, with a great variety of delicious options to choose from. I would highly recommend this hotel!

If you're going to Hanoi stay here. I booked this hotel through our Amex Centurion card and we received an upgrade on check-in to a room on the Club Floor. The Club Floor was amazing. They have an afternoon tea and a happy hour every day. We spent the very warm mornings shopping and touring and then we would come back go for a swim and go to tea and happy hour and then on to dinner. Because we had a club room we had a staff member assigned to our room. Our major domo Hugh was incredibly helpful. He was there to answer any questions and make sure that our stay was going well. He had restaurant and shopping recommendations. I needed to get a skirt that I had make in Hoi An altered and they recommended a seamstress. The location of the hotel is amazing right next to the old quarter and some very nice shopping. We did the bomb shelter tour and that was very interesting. We also booked a half day Hanoi City tour through the hotel and that was very good as well. We had a fabulous trip to Vietnam, but this hotel was definitely one of the highlights and the service really could not be improved upon.

My daughter and I traveled to Asia, an Hanoi was on our agenda. We could not have been happier with Hotel Sofitel Legend Metropole. The hotel is beautiful and the service was beyond spectacular. There were so many smiling faces! The club room services I can highly recommend. We enjoyed dining while listening to live music, and we were really benefited by the special touches the hotel offered. The concierge service was top notch and helped us arrange tours. I can't say enough and would highly recommend.

My mum who is a senior was my travel companion for 6 nights on our maiden trip to Viet Nam. It was our first time at the Metropole Hà Nội and boy, are we glad to have picked this one over the Capella. Having said that, to be fair we have no direct experience with the Capella which is just across the road- this is based more on a gut feeling than anything else. The property itself is deeply steeped in history and has the perfect vibes to capture the core essence of Indochine. The service standards of the Metropole are impeccable making a panoply of delights available at a moment’s notice. The hotel GM is blessed with a fine crew at his disposal. The Metropole’s people are by far, its greatest asset. We stayed in a Grand Premium room in the Opera Wing on the top Club floor ( 7th floor) with access to the Club Lounge and the exquisite Majordome butler service on tap, 24/7. The original Heritage wing exudes a charm and elegance which would not seem out of place in the Palace wing of the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai or the Breakers of Palm Beach, Fl. The food is exquisite notably, in “Le Beaulieu” - the French diner and I strongly recommend the Dover sole & the Canadian blue lobster on flambé. Apparently, they are very proud of their wine selection but we preferred staying dry that evening. Equally, Angelina the Bar and the Vietnamese speciality restaurant- Spice Garden are both delightful and pack quite a punch. The hotel property is senior friendly with a few wrinkles here and there but on balance, is manageable for seniors with traveling companions in tow. About the only downside for a hotel this size is their minuscule temperature controlled pool which is as big or as small as the pool in your villa back home. Location wise, you cannot ask for a better one- it’s within easy reach of the Hoan Kiem lake with its many ‘splendored weekend wonders’. The hotel offers a complimentary tour of the bunker near the Bamboo bar which was put to good use in the Hanoi Christmas Eve bombings during America’s notorious war in Viet Nam. The hotel historian regales you with all manner of anecdotes and a bunch of fun facts on this tour and don’t forget there is complimentary lemonade awaiting you in the Bamboo bar. It would be remiss of us not to give a shout out to (in no particular order: Duck, Maya, Mia, Howard, Hoa, Chwang, Luke and of course, the effervescent young lad- Mikey 🙌 all of whom went out of their way to serve us, and to make our stay with them, comfortable. As a footnote I must admit (even now after exiting Viet Nam) we cannot stop thinking about their floral arrangements on proud display in the Heritage wing. All in all, great VFM I would say.

Words cannot express the absolute pleasure we experienced at this Hotel. It was a dream. The quiet dignified elegance, decor the most beautiful and understated luxury without ostentation or opulence. The atmosphere everywhere is calm, quiet and gentle. The staff treated us with care as though we were special even though we are quite ordinary people who have saved for a long time to be guests. We stayed 3 nights in the heritage wing before going to SaPa and then returned for one night in the opera wing. Both wings are superb with exactly the same excellent service. The heritage wing was extra special as there remains the elegance and historic aspects of French Colonialism. At the Heritage wing we had the opportunity to visit the underground bomb shelter used during the bombing raids if the Vietnam/American War. The pool area, the boutique and the épicerie are elegant, understated with everything perfectly presented. We loved our breakfasts, club sandwiches and quiet evening drinks in the Atrium. I would like to make special mention of the staff. Not only did they represent the quiet elegance and beauty of, male and female, of the Vietnamese people, it was their care, genuine kindness and assistance that made the hotel so much above any other that ai have stayed in. I would also make special mention of the hair salon. Never in my life have I had hair treatment so wonderful by not one but 2 lovely hairdressers at the same time. I paid just a little extra for a treatment which was amazing and included a head and neck massage. The concierge and reception people were also wonderful. I would fly back to Hanoi just to stay once more at the Metropole, hopefully in the same heritage room which had a beautiful painting that I could not stopping looking at . The pillows were to die for! Thankyou everyone at the Metropole for what you did for us. Warmest regards
