Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi was first opened at the turn of the 20th century by two private French investors. Standing the test of time, the hotel has been recognized as Hanoi’s legendary landmark for its contribution to the history and heritage of city. Ever since 1901, the Hotel Metropole Hanoi has a long tradition as a luxury venue for prestigious events and a popular rendezvous for business and leisure travelers. We have the honour to welcome such famous playwrights, actors, ambassadors and heads of state from all over the world as Charlie Chaplin, Graham Greene, Somerset Maugham.

Traditional hotel with quite a history. Fascinating to read about it. We were made to feel very welcome at check-in and appreciated the welcome drink. Room was small though and lacking the wow factor. Old fashioned and somewhat grimy shower-over-bath combo. Enjoyed cocktails at the bar with quite a show from the bar tender with his mixology skills. We’d highly recommend the Charlie Chaplin. Swimming pool very small. Even with around four people in, it was too crowded for actual swimming. Good range of restaurants and an amazing wine selection in Le Beaulieu. Early morning check out and taxi organised efficiently by front desk.

It was a short stay, but being fortunate to be randomly chosen as guest of the day is not something that happens. I am thankful for the opportunity. Good location , at the outskirts of the Old Quarter, walkable to main tourist attractions. The Heritage Wing where I was booked exuded French colonial luxury with its ambiance and architectural outlook. Coupled with the renowned Vietnamese hospitality, everything is just near perfection. Many high end shops and recognized restaurants adorn the hotel . If you look at it , it was a destination in itself . The grand luxury room was very comfortable, amenities are very much modernized. Comfortable beds , different levels of lighting , pillow menu .. but I liked the automated Toto washlet as well . Can’t help noticing however the absence of a bathtub and non availability of a smart streaming Tv . No YouTube or Netflix here. Having complimentary Afternoon Tea and Evening Cocktails, put us in a blissful dining experience. The breakfast was just wonderful, extensive selection that somehow highlights the local specialities. The underground bunker tour is a can’t miss, they are so hospitable we were even provided with a complimentary orange juice after the activity . Lastly , I would like to thank Front desk officer Tracy , and Cindy of guest relation for their cordial treatment towards us , the positive vibes are much felt . Majority of the staff are eager to serve , which is one utmost advantage.

We had often stayed at this hotel whenever we visited Hanoi. We were disappointed this time due to the following reasons: the staff were inexperienced and somewhat unprofessional; some of them often lost their calm and cordial demeanor and temperament and the check-ins were very long. We recommend a refresher training courses for staff, particularly the trainees, who seemed to possess decent English (but not French), and nothing else. If not, the hotel should be reclassified as a four-star (not five-star) hotel. We, however, enjoyed the one-hour tour of this historic hotel. The guide was excellent with his historical knowledge of the hotel.

Staying at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi felt like stepping into a living piece of history wrapped in five-star luxury. From the grand colonial architecture to the legendary Bamboo Bar and even the hidden bomb shelter tour, every corner tells a story. My room was the perfect mix of French elegance and modern comfort, and the breakfast spread? Absolutely unforgettable. Located right in the French Quarter, it’s steps from the Opera House and Hoan Kiem Lake, yet feels like a serene escape from the city. If Hanoi is the heartbeat of Vietnam, the Metropole is its timeless rhythm. Would 100% recommend for anyone wanting the ultimate Hanoi experience.

Exceptional hotel. My partner and I stayed in here for a romantic weekend away. It was so nice we barely left the place, and didn't see much of a Hanoi. The staff are by far the most caring and attentive of any hotel staff we have encountered. The facilities are immaculate. The restaurants on site are all lovely.
