Reviews for Sofitel Metropole Hanoi

Simply legendary and magnificent!

Dubbed as one of the best Sofitels in Asia, it is the epitome of luxury without lacking any ostentation and opulence. The entire hotel was decorated with an abundance of fresh flowers and frangrance permeated everywhere. Staying for a night and the overall experience was impressive. Live music was played at the lobby during 4pm to 6pm. My room was assigned on the opera wing which was well appointed. Loved the comfy beds along with some welcome amenities. Bathroom amenities were well - equipped. The water pressure was strong and I especially liked the soft towels. Evening turn service was offered too. Overall, the room was immaculate. On arrival, we were escorted to the club lounge on Level 7 for check in. A glass of champagne was offered as welcome drink. The club lounge served breakfast (6am to 10am) , afternoon tea 3pm - 4.3pm) and evening cocktail (5pm - 7pm) was held. A selction of Coffee, tea, waters, freshly squeezed juices were available 24/ 7. Much to my surprise and delight , the club lounge is open round the clock. Arriving late, we availed to the beautiful evening cocktail which came with an extensive list of beverages. I thought it was the most comprehensive selections. I indulged in every sip of 12 y.o Singleton. Food wise, there were cold cuts, premium cheeses and other delicious canapes. All were presented beautifully. Also, there was also a piano performance. I have to say that staff were superb in service delivery. Notably, Drinks and nibbles could be sent to the room too by personal butler. In my case, we had Mr Dinh Tan who took great care of us. Breakfast was another highlight with 3 dining options i.e. The club lounge, Le Bar Club and Bamboo Garden. I opted for Le Bar Club where food choices were aplenty, ranging from the usual western fare to local cuisines with easily more than 50 kinds. I was flabbergasted to learn that sparkling wine, cocktails and mocktails as well as sparkling water were offered. What an indulgence! All staff spoke perfect English and delivered good service. With a 5pm late check out, we were invited for the afternoon tea which was very good especially you had sweet tooth. This hotel is indeed legendary! A special mention to some staff esp the head butler, Mr. Do Duc Phong, Mr. Dinh Tan, Mr. Hieu and Ms. Hang from Le bar club and Ms Tracy, the FOM who made my stay memorable.

Excellent Heritage Property, a Destination by itself!

Came with a fellow Platinum member friend. Hotel lobby was adequately staffed and check in was a breeze at Metropole Lounge. Special mention must go to the following people 1. Tran Phuong Dzung( F.O Manager) 2. Do Duc Phong (Head Butler) 3. Ms Tracy(Metropole Lounge) 4. Mr Nguyen Dinh Tun (Personal Butler for Room 557) To the GM George Koumendakis, thank you and your team for the attention to detail in the operational areas of the Metropole Lounge, Housekeeping and Room allocation. We were offered a private tour of the bunker outside the regular timing by your Heartist Mr Tun, and an extra glass of champagne was offered despite evening cocktail hours being over. Your main Breakfast Restaurant Manageress was amazing, always happy to please and making small conversations with us. Welcome drink cocktails were excellent at Angelina. Your team were very proactive in helping us with booking of transport to Sapa and were always checking on us. We are so sorry we couldn’t remember all the names of all we have encountered, but their acts of kindness and genuine hospitality has touched us. Will definitely be back soon!

Perfect stay in a fantastic hotel

We spend 3 nights in a Metropol suite in the Heritage building including breakfast. The pros Great location, Very spacious room with high ceiling, Beautiful design of the room with a lot of attention paid to the details, Room available early in the morning (really appreciated after a 12hours flight), Great butler service until the end of our stay, Really good quality of the food during tea time and cocktail time, Great quality of the breakfast and dinner (pho soup). Excellent service in general (reception, front desk, food & beverage), Really interesting tour in the hotel bomb shelter with a very knowledgable guide. The cons The Opera building is pretty big (7 floors) compared to the Heritage one (3 floors) and alters the charm of the place. Overall, a great, and certainly the best place of our tour in Vietnam.

Simply the best to quote

As very experienced travellers we have seen most things good and bad in the far east.We find it difficult to fault the rooms in the new wing, the service, quality of the food or staff..Wonderful location too.We feel safe in Hanoi and feel we can trust the hotel and staff. When we encountered a rogue taxi driver, we encouraged him to the hotel door with the lure of payment and let the concierge do the rest, very well. The only negative was delinquent children around the pool at weekends but that is the fault of parents, not the hotel.

Best breakfast buffet you will ever experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is a lovely hotel with attentive and kind staff and the beds and rooms are very comfortable. The star of our stay though was the breakfast buffet, the absolute best we have ever experienced anywhere in the world! So much variety it was overwhelming, and it was all so good! The tour of the bunker was interesting, but no need to go out of your way to take it, do it if it is convenient to do. The pool bar has a great atmosphere, however our cocktails were, lets say, interesting. But again, wonderful staff, everywhere in the hotel.
