Reviews for Pink Sands Resort

A Stay Worth Having

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Although my stay at the Resort was very short, it was very memorable. As I arrived at the Resort I was greeted by a very friendly Bellman (Dexter) who escorted me to the Front Desk where I met a table full with smiling faces and a warm greeting at the Front Desk (Everica, Astralia & Vanessa). There I was offered a complimentary glass of Sparkling Wine and a short and sweet check in process. As I got to my Amazing Cottage (Bird Cay), there were a few delicious complimentary amenities that greeted us as we opened the door. went over to the Blue Bar where the view of the Ocean was breath-taking. I was greeted by a loving server (Elena) and a cool bartender (Amari). The service there was nothing short of amazing. After resting up a bit, we went to dinner at the Malcolm 51. There was a live band playing great music to go along with the awesome service and nice calm ambience of the restaurant. My servers (Andy & Rose) were pleasant and made sure we were happy the whole time. The bartender (Michael) knows exactly what he's doing because those drinks were very refreshing. But a HUGE shoutout goes to the Chefs (Marvie & Jamaal) that prepared our meal. Also, the Headman (Jakub) keep ensuring that everything was going good for us. Now the night is over and morning arrives, it time to leave. But before we do, my wife went to breakfast at the Blue Bar, the servers (Nakita & Nayda) were attentive and amazing and the chefs (Essie & Crystal) made sure she got exactly what she wanted. She later went to her scheduled massage session. She hasn't stopped talking how great and gentle the massage therapist (Kae) was and how this service was a must have. Upon arriving at the Front Desk for check out, we were greeted again by another smiling Bellman (Rel) and a desk of smiling faces (Everica & Cicely). The Headlady (Romana) came out and made sure that we enjoyed our stay. Overall I must say that this was A Stay Worth Having!!

Value for money?

We stayed there in early January, just after New Year's. I understand that it is high season but when you are paying upwards of 2.000 USD per night, you expect a top notch experience. The hotel is superbly located but has some major flaws which are unacceptable given the prices they charge. - we ordered breakfast in our room every day and the delivery was incorrect every single time. - there was a technical problem with our room. We mentioned it several times but it was never solved. - we booked an ocean view room with a private pool. Several flaws: 1) the wall separating from the next room with a pool has a huge opening which means ZERO privacy. When our neighbors were in their private pool we could see them from our terrace (barely a few feet away) and when we were in our pool, we could see them. - our room had a wonderful view but just below it towards the beach is a shack that serves food and drinks. This meant we got to hear the generator all day long from our terrace and smell the food when they were cooking. - at these rates, you would expect some sort of spa facility. If there was one, I never saw it because they had one therapist who only took reservations until early afternoon. Unheard of in a luxury hotel (with such high rates) where you cannot book a massage for 5 or 6 pm. - do you want to have lunch at the Blue bar and finish off with something sweet? Forget it. Not only do they not have desserts, they don't even have ice cream which simply requires a few inches squared of storage in a freezer. - you want efficient service at the beach? Look elsewhere. Everytime we sat on the loungers at the beach, the attendant came by literally an hour or so later. And don't expect a warm welcome to the beach or a smile either. On a positive note, the staff at reception were always friendly and welcoming. In general, privacy is an issue here. If you book a garden cottage, prepare to have your life exposed to other guests. In a tropical environment where plants grow so easily, it is uncomprehensible that all of the rooms are so exposed. Every time we drove our buggy towards reception, we were surprised by the lack of privacy of the cottage rooms bearing in mind the rates they charge. Would I return? Probably not. It felt like there was no real captain on this ship. It felt like the hotel must have been great at some point in time but no professional hotelier was really putting thought into making it a top notch experience.

A wonderful first time in the Bahamas

We stayed at Pink Sands just after Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. The entire resort is beautiful and our cottage was clean and very comfortable. The restaurant food was great. It was super easy to get around the island with a golf cart. The service was outstanding, from housekeeping to restaurant staff to beach staff. Thank you to Everica, Cicely, Kae, Rel, and Rico specifically for a great stay. We'll definitely be back!

Great restaurant

Excellent dining experience. The service, ambience, and food were all top-notch. It’s clear that the owners have placed a premium on upping their game and it’s now one of the best restaurants on Harbour Island. So many places in the Bahamas are sort of “island time,” but this place really stands out.

Not what it used to be…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

⸻ This was our third visit to Pink Sands. Unfortunately, both Pink Sands and Harbour Island no longer have the small, hidden-gem charm they had a decade ago. The island has been discovered, become crowded, and a bit rowdy, with motorized golf carts buzzing everywhere (years ago, there were only a few electric ones). All the conch fritters in town (and at the resort)come from the same frozen brand, deep-fried to order. The resort itself has expanded, with rows of t multi-bedroom, multi-story homes built where the bird preserve once sat behind the cottages. It used to feel romantic and mostly catered to couples; now you’ll find children playing hide-and-seek in the restaurant while Dad takes an important business call on speakerphone. As it’s grown, it’s become less personal. We used to get to know the waiters and bartenders, who remembered our favorites. Now it feels about as friendly as a chain restaurant. Every guest except us had a golf cart, and you constantly had to jump off the narrow paths inside the resort as they sped by. Our “oceanfront cottage” was actually behind another oceanfront cottage and a horse stall, and it was really only half a cottage—attached to another, with a lattice fence separating the “private patio.” While we were there, half the beach was taken over by a photo shoot for suntan lotion or something, so we couldn’t use the stretch of beach near our villa. Yes, the beach is still beautiful, more populated than it used to be, but it was never truly crowded. The water remains crystal clear, and we still had a nice time. Still, it’s sad to see what was once such a quaint, romantic place go downhill.
