Kruger Park Lodge

Been frequenting KPL for the past 30 years and it remains one of the key highlights of the year. Always great times on the golf course, and precious time with family around the barbeque every night. The wildlife and variety of birds are exceptional. Feeling safe, secure and sound each time.

We loved our stay and the host was professional and attentive. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for the perfect home away from home.

The place was beautiful, comfortable and perfect, we are definitely coming back.Unit 229A is definitely our second home.

Good location for Kruger National Park, about a 15-minute drive, and approximately 40–45 minutes from the airport. We stayed in Unit 51, a 3-bedroom, 3-bath chalet with a lovely view of a small lake and the golf course from the front porch. The chalets are not fancy, so don’t expect marble floors or chandeliers. They are simple, comfortable, and very well maintained. Each bedroom has a mini-split AC unit. The dining room, kitchen, and main living area do not have AC, but there are ceiling fans. The kitchen is very well stocked with plates, cookware, silverware, and everything needed to prepare meals. Each chalet also has its own charcoal grill. Charcoal and firelighters can be purchased at reception. They do not supply paper towels or napkins, but toilet paper, soap, dish soap, cleaning cloths, and drying cloths are provided. We grilled one evening, and the domestic staff washed all of our dishes the next morning. The housekeeping staff do an amazing job. You could have bounced a quarter off our bed after it was made each morning! They clean daily, although you do need to ask for fresh towels. We had them do our laundry and it was affordable and perfect. I think they might have ironed my underwear! Two of the bedrooms were ensuite. The third bedroom had a bathroom right beside it but not ensuite. Master bedroom was a king bed with ensuite bath with shower only. The second bedroom was a queen bed (?) with an ensuite bath with a tub only. Third bedroom (not ensuite) was either two twins or pushed together for a king. This bedroom had a tub and a separate shower. The only blowdryer available was in bedroom two and attached to the wall so it could not be moved. We had a problem with one of the AC units, and maintenance responded and resolved it very quickly. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely delightful. The restaurant food was superb. I was impressed with every meal we had. Everything tasted fresh and prepared from scratch. Service can take a little while, but the food is worth the wait. Be sure to try the Wednesday-night braai at the river restaurant. The food was excellent and the setting was beautiful. They have an onsite water-filtration system, although we still chose to drink bottled water. The grounds are immaculately maintained, with plenty of wildlife around the property, including birds, impalas, monkeys, and hippos. The hippos cannot access the resort grounds, but you can safely watch them from behind the electric fence. Early morning is the best time to see them active; later in the day they tend to spend more time submerged. There is a nice pool, although it is not very large and the chaise lounges can fill quickly. An onsite masseuse can come to your chalet for massages, facials, manicures, and other treatments, and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, this is a wonderful, relaxed, casual place to stay. It is comfortable and welcoming rather than luxurious, so leave the sequins and tuxedos at home!

We had a lovely stay, with family and friends. Because of the layout of the individual rooms, we all had enough space and privacy when needed, the communal spaces where spacious and more than adequate, both inside (it rained for 2 days) and outside. Only recommendation would be to improve on stove and oven (did not seal properly), and we missed storage dishes and mixing bowls. Ana (the lady who serviced our unit) was absolutely lovely and a pleasure to have around.
