Montage Healdsburg

Our stay at Montage Healdsburg has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived and mentioned our recent engagement, the team went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated. We were treated to an absolutely spectacular suite upgrade, complete with breathtaking views, beautiful outdoor spaces, and the most romantic surprise of rose petals and candles waiting for us. The attention to detail and genuine hospitality have been remarkable. A special thank-you to Sarah at the front desk, who welcomed us so warmly and made sure every detail of our stay was seamless. She even sought us out at the bar to check on us and thoughtfully arranged our early-morning departure transportation. Jessica at the pool was equally wonderful—so sweet, personable, and genuinely lovely to talk with. It’s people like Sarah and Jessica who elevate an already beautiful property into something truly special. We’ve stayed at many wonderful hotels, but this experience has been exceptional. Bravo to the entire Montage team!

The room, staff, and resort itself are great if a bit pricey. However, I did have an issue as a wheelchair user because of the size of the resort, which requires transportation via the golf carts. We were there for a wedding, and at one point had to wait close to an hour for a cart to take us from our room to the wedding festivities, which had already started by the time we got there.

The setting within the winery was beautiful. The atmosphere was so relaxing, and the accommodations were also relaxing from the outdoor shower to the fire pit on the deck. The staff was extremely helpful. the food and presentation was above par and the lounge area was tremendously, relaxing over overlooking the wineries and the beautiful surroundings. we would stay there again in a nanosecond.

If you have been to other Montage properties, you may not find this at the same high quality standard. Had several issues with check-in desk and concierge regarding iPrefer amenities and vouchers. They were ill equipped overall and lacked thoroughness. We spent precious vacation time problem-solving on basics. A manager finally contacted me post checkout to investigate and solve the issues.

The property is beautiful, the rooms are well appointed, and everything worked as it should. The food was good, and the spa was fine. Unfortunately, the service did not come close to a five-star experience. Most of the employees we encountered seemed unhappy to be there, and even simple requests often felt as though we were bothering them. The valet and house-car team was particularly disappointing. They were disorganized, inflexible, and at times rude. One employee even told us to hurry up. The concierge experience was not much better. It was difficult to get plans organized and coordinated, and we repeatedly had to follow up for responses or provide information we had already shared. Whether the issue is training, communication, or engagement, the team needs significant attention. We enjoyed our cabana and spending the day at the pool, but service was very infrequent. We repeatedly had to track someone down to order food or drinks. Once someone came over, the service was fine, but the pool appeared significantly understaffed. We likely would have spent considerably more if service had been consistently available throughout the day. Food service was generally good, Overall, this is a lovely property, but the level of service simply does not match the beautiful setting or the expectations of a five-star resort.
