Montage Healdsburg

The room, staff, and resort itself are great if a bit pricey. However, I did have an issue as a wheelchair user because of the size of the resort, which requires transportation via the golf carts. We were there for a wedding, and at one point had to wait close to an hour for a cart to take us from our room to the wedding festivities, which had already started by the time we got there.

The setting within the winery was beautiful. The atmosphere was so relaxing, and the accommodations were also relaxing from the outdoor shower to the fire pit on the deck. The staff was extremely helpful. the food and presentation was above par and the lounge area was tremendously, relaxing over overlooking the wineries and the beautiful surroundings. we would stay there again in a nanosecond.

If you have been to other Montage properties, you may not find this at the same high quality standard. Had several issues with check-in desk and concierge regarding iPrefer amenities and vouchers. They were ill equipped overall and lacked thoroughness. We spent precious vacation time problem-solving on basics. A manager finally contacted me post checkout to investigate and solve the issues.

The property is beautiful, the rooms are well appointed, and everything worked as it should. The food was good, and the spa was fine. Unfortunately, the service did not come close to a five-star experience. Most of the employees we encountered seemed unhappy to be there, and even simple requests often felt as though we were bothering them. The valet and house-car team was particularly disappointing. They were disorganized, inflexible, and at times rude. One employee even told us to hurry up. The concierge experience was not much better. It was difficult to get plans organized and coordinated, and we repeatedly had to follow up for responses or provide information we had already shared. Whether the issue is training, communication, or engagement, the team needs significant attention. We enjoyed our cabana and spending the day at the pool, but service was very infrequent. We repeatedly had to track someone down to order food or drinks. Once someone came over, the service was fine, but the pool appeared significantly understaffed. We likely would have spent considerably more if service had been consistently available throughout the day. Food service was generally good, Overall, this is a lovely property, but the level of service simply does not match the beautiful setting or the expectations of a five-star resort.

Does it have floor to ceiling glass? Yes. Freestanding tub? Yep. Balcony w fire pit? That too. But how about taste? No. Quality? Nope. Character? Absolutely not. Never have i been to a place that seemingly has everything on paper but nothing that i actually want. If you have any interest in design or aesthetics - run for the hills, literally. This place looks like a giant ZGallerie. The rooms and the spa were so hideous and uninviting that I had to pack up and leave early. Management was *kind enough to let me terminate my stay early but if a customer is that dissatisfied you should try to preserve your flag and offer a credit off the stay or towards a different property. the fact that they got $2k from me for a night has me feeling more fleeced than the synthetic fabrics that cover the joint
