Possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This is possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in, and I am lucky to have literally stayed in hundreds. Although the decor is not to my taste and I felt the second room (no.2) was more dated than our first room (no.42) (we drove to Jokulsarlon for a night) the service was exemplary. It was nice of the owner (Friorik) to make time for us, reception and waiting staff also excellent, but it was also the detail which surely other hotels should be able to accomplish that makes it stand out; large soft bath towels, lovely fragrance toiletries, remembering on our return visit that we liked additional duvet covers (as we don’t sleep under duvets finding them too hot) etc. And the dining experience on each of the 3 nights was probably better than any other hotel restaurants I have dined in - food and wine were 1st class

Cozy, Welcoming, and a Front-Row Seat to the Northern Lights

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed at Hotel Rangá for two nights in late February into March and had a truly memorable experience. One of the highlights was the Northern Lights — the hotel offers a wake-up call service for aurora sightings, and thanks to that, we got to see them. Absolutely magical. Our room had direct access to a hot tub filled with thermal waters — the perfect way to unwind while surrounded by Iceland’s serene landscape. Room service was outstanding, and the food arrived promptly and beautifully presented. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with a generous and varied selection to suit every preference. Parking was easy and located right out front, making arrivals and departures stress-free. Hotel Rangá combines comfort, thoughtful service, and a touch of adventure in a peaceful setting. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Absolutely lovely

I definitely recommend. It could be a perfect romantic getaway with your significant other. The view from the restaurant is stunning and the food is to die for. It’s so relaxing to stay in the hot tub in the evening so don’t forget your bathing suits.

Fabulous hotel with wonderful staff & service, great views, & excellent food and drinks

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed 7 nights at hotel Rangá “around the world in 7 suites” where we stayed in each of their 7 continental suites. The hotel was a perfect base for exploring everything the South Coast of Iceland has to offer and after each adventure-filled day, we returned to Hotel Rangá, where we were greeted by the most welcoming, kindest team. Their meals and drinks were delicious and we enjoyed the magic of staying in a differently-themed room depicting another continent each night. The hotel has 3 hot tubs that overlook the Rangá River and the highlands in the distance and we loved to take in the views while we relaxed or ate dinner. A special highlight was witnessing the northern lights—made possible by their aurora wake up call. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Beautiful property set away from city lights with access to wonderful activities. Great restaurant, and accommodating of food allergies.
