Reviews for Hilton Helsinki Strand

Fantastic stay at Hilton strand 5* breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

In Helsinki we stayed at the Hilton strand, which was in a fantastic location on the river, the hotel appeared to have been recently renovated it was immaculate throughout, we booked a king executive room and all 3 of us fitted in perfectly with daughter on a sofa bed, loads of space, all the doors throughout the hotel opened outwards meaning you got extra space inside, pool was nice as was the sauna complex. Breakfast in Hilton’s is usually consistently.. ok, however here at strand it was fantastic the best Hilton breakfast I’ve had with fresh everything from continental, cooked and local cuisine and refreshing health energy shots of juice, 5* the only think that is letting Hilton down is there executive lounge experience this goes far beyond this hotel and is an issue at all its property’s lacking in food selection and drinks it’s essentially free coffee and a seat in most properties. Helsinki its self is a lovely vibrant city with lots to do, loads of green space brill when travelling with children and a good coffee scene to explore

Nice Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Stayed here for 1 night as a Hhonors diamond member. Nice room. A bit outdated. Location is about 20 min walk from the main train station. About 5-10 min walk to Hakaniemi station. Really nice sauna area. For the value of the stay. Might stay here again.

Beware

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

First of all the rooms I can’t fault. Lovely spacious rooms, comfy beds and decent view. However beware that when you arrive although it says nothing about deposits. They charge you €50 per night for security deposit just in case you take a drink from the fridge in your room? The bar downstairs is also a massive scam as they charged me €15 for one drink and then €17 for the same one 20 minutes later. The next night they charged me €45 for 2 drinks! Customer service isn’t great with SOME staff quite rude. So please be aware before staying here!

Worst check-in experience ever

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Before my arrival, I was already in contact with the hotel via chat, as the airline had lost my luggage. Communication there was very friendly and helpful. I also noticed that King rooms in the same category as my booking had become available. It was then agreed that both of my Twin rooms would be changed to King, and that for any possible Diamond upgrade, a King room would also be selected. However, the check-in at the hotel with J. turned out to be by far the worst experience: We were three people with two rooms (one Hilton Diamond, one Hilton Gold). Both status levels are entitled to an upgrade. Even though J. confirmed that plenty of better rooms were available, the upgrades were refused. The reasons given (“a VIP gift already in the room” or “because the guest pre-selected a room, upgrades are excluded”) are not only illogical but also directly contradict the prior agreement. On top of that, the hotel itself looks dated and worn down – neither the facilities nor the service meet the standard one would expect from a Hilton property. This level of service is absolutely disappointing. It really raises the question why this hotel is part of the Hilton group at all if it doesn’t want to follow the rules – and why Hilton even promotes the Hilton Honors program if the benefits are simply not honored. One star on top for the “VIP-present” (a sparkling wine, which was nice) and the other employees at the lobby and the executive lounge, which are all very professional and friendly.

Could Have Been Better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Stayed in a sea view room. Initially was given a room that could hardly see any sea, the room also had a very unpleasant strong smell of sweat, had to open the windows all night to get rid of the smell. Did some research, the room we were given was just not right from the booking description. Had a talk with the reception and finally got a room that we supposed to stay after two days, nice view, such a shame we had to miss out initially. Explanation from reception was misunderstanding. Given we didn't book directly from the hotel, we were told we would need to get compensation through the booking company. Good location, pretty quiet. All necessary Crabtree Evelyn amenities were available. Furniture was dated. Front desk staff was quite helpful. Bar tender was friendly. There was a rather big construction site across from the front of the hotel, not sure how noisy it could be as were out all the time during the day.
