We are wondering how this hotel earned a 5-star hotel rating. Not horrible but also not luxurious; it’s been a while since there was a refresh. Front desk will admonish you for not booking directly with the hotel, or at least they did us when we checked in. (We used a travel agent to book the trip.) Felt a little punitive how long we had to wait for the room to be ready. On a positive note, breakfast was excellent. Overall, probably would try Waldorf Astoria or Hotel Kamp next time.

I had a amazing staycation with my sister - we went to the gym, enjoyed the Spa area (swimming pool and sauna), had 2 different Spa treatments and ended the evening with tasty room service food and bubbles. Staff at the Spa were amazing - friendly and making sure that the experience was unique. Room service food was one of the best - nice, fresh ingredients. food came within 15min of order. Can highly recommend!

My favorite hotel in Helsinki. The rooms are spacious and modern, the bathrooms are luxurious and have everything you need. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet has a lot of variety and is price-worthy. Bonus points for the robes and beddings - very comfy.

My family and I traveled to Helsinki in late December for a few days before heading up to Lapland for a winter experience. We picked this hotel because of its central location and the ability to use/earn Marriott points on our stay. While the staff was very helpful in advance with reservations and bookings (including a private guide), we were disappointed with the onsite service in a few areas. First, the hotel offers no bell man or baggage assistance. If you’re traveling from afar like us- especially in the winter and with kids- it’s nice to get help with bags. This hotel has a weird and tight layout and it’s not the easiest to manage. Second, if you are arriving from abroad and want a room to be ready even an hour or two early be prepared to pay an early check in fee (even if you have Marriott Platinum status). I found that to be petty. The hotel doesn’t offer Marriott elite breakfast either (instead they give you a discounted rate). Additionally, the hotel had no ATM on site or no ability to do currency exchange. Not the end of the world but surprising none the less as the nearest ATM is four blocks away. Lastly, housekeeping was disappointing. We didn’t get it the first day without making many calls, and it came very late each day. Perhaps the hotel was short staffed? It was a nice property with a decent location but overall I would consider other options if spending a few days in Helsinki.

I have my all time fave in Helsinki as far as hotels are concerned but did not stay there this time. I will most likely not consider staying there again when I go to Helsinki. I will either return to my preferred choice or will explore other hotels I have not stayed at yet. While there is nothing really wrong with Hotel St. George it just missed the wow factor for me. While the location is great, the hotel does not have that much of an entrance or lobby and is somehow stuck in a small street next to a park. It looses to other hotels located on or near the Esplanadi Boulevard as I find it much nicer in that part of Helsinki. The rooms are nice (we booked two Atelier rooms). But while the hotel is located in an old historic building the rooms seem more "designed" than reflecting the old charm. One very inconvenient detail - no dresser for small things, underwear etc. There are a couple of shelves, but they seemed to be occupied by other things (like a safe etc) otherwise just hangers. Quite an inconvenience and a serious design flop. No coffee machine in the room. While the hotel is quite big only one elevator was working for the entire four days that we were there. Prior to booking the hotel I had read on some forums that it offers one of the best breakfasts in Helsinki. Having read that information we chose the room package with breakfast included, so we were there every day. While breakfast was good I would not call it the best in Helsinki. The usual fare and the restaurant room is definitely lacking the ambiance being, I believe, on the underground level and having very little daylight not to mention lacking any view. The spa was nice. Upon reading reviews on TA I expected the pool to be really small, but it was a decent size. Overall a great spa, however, we had several massage treatments there and while my therapist was very good (I had two treatments with the same one), my daughter and her boyfriend did not like their massages and considered them sub par. Finally, I don't believe there is a concierge at this hotel or at least I did not see one. I guess people at the reception handle concierge functions. On our first night we wanted the hotel to call a taxi for us and there was just one person at the reception checking a guest in. We waited for quite some time for the receptionist to complete the check in but had to give up and called an Uber (BTW a good and often cheaper option for Helsinki). Since there is no concierge at the hotel, it does not seem a good idea to have just one person at the reception desk except for the late night and early morning hours. I am rating this hotel 4 stars because overall it's a decent hotel, however, since I can compare it with other options, it would not be my first choice for Helsinki, nor it is a good value for the money.
