The Marine

Characterless room and a chef apparently lacking an appreciation of flavour. The ostrich in cumin was just that ; no delicacy of flavour. A struggle to get through. The fish of the day didn’t correspond with the description. It was meant to be accompanied by a lemon risotto and herb oils. Both absent. In their place a gloopy rice which I’m convinced was just boiled rice with some of the cheese sauce from the soufflé starter stirred through. Stodgy and boring. Then, at 9.20 pm, the staff began laying up for breakfast. Having only been there for just over an hour and a half, and not alone in the restaurant, we felt unwelcome.

Although we give this a 4 star this is not to be taken as a negative. The hotel is fantastically situated and the all round experience we had absolutely fantastic. The breakfast included are fantastic and the intimate pool area provides for a relaxed sun session. The hotel does need a bit of a revamp hence the 4 stars. If the well appointed rooms and public areas were spruced up the rating would be 5. If this not important, then it’s an unbeatable place. Service is also fantastic. Hoping to return

My partner and I stayed for 1 night only, however, next time we will definitely stay longer. The service was excellent, dinner fantastic and the fully stocked mini bar at no extra cost was a real treat. Thank you! Highly recommend the Marine Hotel.

We spent four wonderful days at this hotel, perfectly situated in a breathtaking location right by the sea. The staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming, turning our stay into an unforgettable experience. The New Year’s celebration was truly one of a kind – featuring exquisite cuisine, a lively and approachable team showcasing their dance talents, and an amazing live band. This is a beautiful area to visit, the hotel is set at the top of the cliffs on the cliff walk with beautiful views. All the staff are friendly and helpful , they will arrange trips, taxis and reservations for meals. The food is very good and as I have certain dietary requirements made sure they could provide alternatives off the menus for me. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and of a good size. The pool was very clean and plenty of sunbeds available with waiter service. Great cocktails too and a good wine list.
