Over rated glorified Hilton “spa” hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

rude staff, sold as a spa hotel but in reality it’s just a hotel with a pool and a steam room and sauna unless you pay the extra £130pp for the full use. Food was below average and priced like it’s a Michelin star. Room tiny and very dirty

Lovely return visit

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I visited with my husband for his birthday and the staff at check in were amazing! The room was beautiful and they had left a birthday card and a little treat for my husband. We had a really nice lunch in the bar conservatory area recommend the club sandwich! Spa was so relaxing we had nice sauna, steam and swim and lovely little sleep on the sunbeds around the pool. Want to give a should out to our waiter at dinner Franco!! What a lovely happy man who actually took his time to talk to everyone We will defiantly be back Thank you

Fantastic stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We spent a romantic weekend at Sopwell House and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing, and every member of the team went out of their way to make our stay feel special. A particular highlight was the personalised service — the General Manager took the time to come over and say hello, which made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. In the restaurant, Vincenzo was exceptional. His attention to detail, warm approach, and professionalism really elevated the whole experience. The rest of the team were equally friendly, attentive and genuinely lovely throughout our stay. Everything — from the food and service to the tranquillity of the spa and the comfort of the rooms — exceeded our expectations. We left feeling relaxed, cared for, and already excited for our next visit. We loved every moment and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend Sopwell House for anyone looking for a luxurious, romantic escape.

Very disappointing birthday weekend.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Awful experience at Sopwell house and such a shame it was booked for my 30th birthday! My lovely mum booked this as a surprise for myself and fiancé for my 30th birthday. My mum booked over the phone and upon making the booking my mum asked if our stay included the spa and she was told yes (almost £400 for the room) but when we got there we were told that “the spa” actually was just an indoor pool and a couple of jacuzzis.. the same set up that you would find at your local leisure centre. The main spa was an additional £130 per person (so £260 for myself and my fiancé on top of the £400 for the room). I said I will upgrade as I am here now and want to enjoy a spa … the whole reason why we came on a spa break … but to be told that we actually can’t upgrade (after talking me all through the package and wasting my time) as it is fully booked by their members. We then decided to go and get some lunch to also be told (once we had been welcomed and given a menu..) that they are fully booked and to go and get something to eat in the bar area instead. The bar was absolutely FREEZING and we felt very strange sat in robes next to other guests who were fully dressed and just enjoying a Saturday afternoon pint. We were never told we had to book our lunch in advance either. My mum did tell them that we were staying for my 30th birthday and there was no ‘nice touches’ .. not even a smile and a “happy birthday” upon check in 🤣 A special birthday celebration that was wasted here! Unless your member.. do not bother booking to stay here. We regularly go to Pennyhill Park and would highly recommend anyone wanting a spa break to book there over sopwell house, you will get much more for your money and have a much better experience!!
