Sopwell House

1st day 35 min wait for a drink in the spa bar one member of staff serving and had to sit and wait all that time for a champagne and a beer. Then charged me a 12.5% service charge on bill. Which asked to be removed and told couldn’t. Dinner that night my girlfriend is a vegetarian and very limited menu so all she had was chips and portion of broccoli. Broccoli arrived undercooked and freezing cold had to send back. I ordered the burger which again was cold and inedible also got poured 2glasses of water which we didn’t even drink and got charged £5 for and again a service charge even tho service wasn’t good. 2nd day Breakfast, raw order of poached eggs, got asked wat hot drinks I would like ordered 2lattes which arrived 30 mins later after finished breakfast. Again other issues with food. Went to the bar for food this night as limited choice in brasserie. I ordered chicken pieces which after eating 60% of I then cut a piece open to find raw pink chicken inside. Used the spa and also had a single male member of staff continuously walking around the spa staring and looking at my gf in her bikini which made her very uncomfortable. Everything very overpriced for service and quality. Would not return

I had an incredible massage from Ria. She was so lovely and attentive and made me feel amazing afterwards. My body felt so soft afterwards. Definitely recommend

m absolutely disgusted by my experience at Sopwell House. From the moment we arrived, my group and I were treated with clear disrespect and what felt like racial discrimination. Staff made us feel constantly watched and judged, speaking to us in a dismissive and condescending tone. There was an issue with our booking, and instead of resolving it politely, we were threatened with the police if we didn’t show the card and PIN — in front of other guests. It was humiliating and completely uncalled for. To make matters worse, the hygiene standards were appalling: hair was found in all of our meals, and we were given a water bottle that had already been opened. We were also asked to leave the pool without any explanation, even though we followed every rule. The whole experience was upsetting and embarrassing. We were made to feel like we didn’t belong. I would never recommend this hotel, especially to guests of colour or anyone expecting respect and basic hospitality. Sopwell House should be ashamed of how we were treated.

Had an amazing stay away here, the hotel is clean and comfortable, with two wonderful restaurants on site. We had dinner in Omboo with drinks in the bar before and after - a good wine selection and well made cocktails. Sunday lunch in the Brasserie was up there with one of the best we’ve had - Harri our waiter made our lunch even more special with his friendly, professional and calm service, he is an asset to the team there. All of the team were friendly and professional, however he stood out as the best. Would highly recommend for a relaxing couples break

We booked a weekend away to celebrate a special anniversary and Sopwell House certainly did not disappoint. From the friendly greeting at checked in, the staff had noted it was a special anniversary and we received a lovely card and gift as well as warm greetings of 'happy anniversary' from restaurant staff at dinner and breakfast and the complimentary anniversary desserts. Special mentions and thanks for doing a great job; Francis the restaurant manager, and his staff, Holly and Clara. Suzzana the Breakfast manageress, Sean and Prince on the front desk.
