Spring break trip with my gals! We had such a great time, we picked Sonesta specifically for the adult only pool which we took advantage of! I read some of these reviews and it makes me wonder if all the ones complaining about the wrong kind of room actually booked through the resort or through something like priceline because I used to do that and you never get what they promise you and I had to learn the hard way. The only way to make reservations is to go directly through the resort because if you pick an outside place to try and get cheaper rates, that's on you! We loved the drinks at Sweet Canes and nikki was great. The beach was crowded but its spring break so what can you expect? I also love having a coffee pot in my room so I dont have to go anywhere when I first get up. The grounds and beautiful and the hammocks, very relaxing!

Just took a trip last week for my birthday with my fiancé, courtesy of my parents, and I loved the resort! It was my first time to visit South Carolina. The property is stunning and the staff are great especially the bartenders who were friendly and helpful as I'm not a big drinker and needed recommendations and I loved everything they suggested. My room was a "horizon view" of the ocean and I knew what this would be as my sister (who travels all over) explained to us the difference in a horizon view, an ocean view and a partial ocean view or a side ocean view. I think there must be a lot of people who do not know this distinction either from the complaints I heard, and I don't really understand why because nothing on the resort webpage (which I poured over for days in my excitement about the trip) says ocean view it says horizon or pool or terrace view so I guess people just enjoy being mean even when it's their own fault for not being informed. I loved laying at the adult only pool (except for listening to other guests loudly complain who wanted to bring their kids in the adult only} and all I can say about that is nobody must think rules apply to them these days. All in all, I think the Sonesta Resort was great and my only complaint about my time there was the obnoxious guests I had to listen to who all sounded like Karens. We are hoping to make this trip a yearly thing!

I’ve been here about 10 years ago with my daughter and we had a lovely lovely time. The rooms were nicely equipped. The energy was wonderful. It was pretty laid-back but elevated this visit was very different. There were lots of families there, my room was a little bit rundown you know like Nick’s on the door Knicks on the floor Knicks on the furniture. It wasn’t terrible, but it certainly was not an elevated experience. I viewed it more as an Embassy suites or Holiday Inn level experience. The beach was nice. We enjoyed the beach for sure a disclaimer is that we went during Easter break so I’m assuming it was probably very crowded as a result of being in a break season, but nevertheless, I did not enjoy the experience overall and we will never return again

This hotel is NOT a four-star resort. Good luck getting ahold of anyone. And when you do, they are incredibly rude and disorganized. My entire family came in to surprise my mom for her birthday, and we did not get the rooms we booked because they "overbooked" themselves (their words) Easter weekend. The "breathtaking views" they advertised for our suite was a full view of a massive roof emiting steam and foul odors, my parents got a view of the parking lot, and my sister got a king bed instead of two queens for her family. We were treated like garbage by the assistant manager, who said, "Do you want it or not?" and offered no discount, solution, or even a simple apology. Beware that apparently this is a common theme here and you are not guaranteed what you book, but you will be expected to pay full price for it!

Looks great, but that’s about it. Check in time is 4 PM and we arrived at 5 (so not early especially when checkout is 11 am) and our room was not ready and was not ready until after 6 PM. Best we were offered for the delay was a $50 credit or free breakfast after I complained (no offer had I not complained). Was told the manager would call us to make things right. Women’s lobby bathroom was in horrendous condition for my children and I to change into swim attire. Men’s restroom was completely closed so my husband had go across the property for a bathroom. Kids enjoyed the pool. Service at the patio restaurant was extremely slow but the food was good once it arrived. Sofa bed sheets were 2 flat sheets (no fitted and no blanket) and only 1 pillow. Only hot 3 bath towels for a family of 4. Called housekeeping for towels, pillows, and blankets and never received any despite an in person follow-up at the front desk. (You’ll be shocked the manager never called us either.) Breakfast buffet did not have pancakes which disappointed my children. I also heard a staff member arguing with someone else’s child about syrup being on the table or not. One of the three elevators had a coffee spill in it which made it practically unusable (only 2 out of the 3 elevators seemed to be in service at all) and further delayed us trying to escape this hotel that claims to be a four diamond AAA hotel. Will not stay again and will be sharing feedback with AAA as well.

My wife and I had a very good time at the Sonesta Resort at Hilton head. Everybody was very polite and helpful. If you want to thank somebody at Sonesta it would be the lady at the Front desk who was so cooperative.
