This place was paradise not just the resort but the whole island. We are empty nesters and this was basically a second honeymoon for us. I am a foodie, and the corn/crab fritters were the best I've ever had . I wish I'd gotten the name of the pool bartender who made me the pina colada she was great! The room was beautiful but I have to admit we didnt' spend much time in the room with all the things to do! We loved the driftwood bar too and we also liked watching all the kid activities although it made us miss our grandkids. The only thing that could have made it better (for my husband) was if he'd been able to fish in the lagoon hahaha but he did get some fishing done early on the beach before it got too crowded. This was our first trip to Hilton Head Island and we will be back at this resort, maybe with the whole family as there seems to be something for everyone. I loved the spa

From the moment I arrived, everything about my stay was exceptional. The staff were absolutely amazing – warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their kindness and professionalism really made a difference and added a personal touch to the whole experience. The place itself is beautiful and very well maintained. It has a charming atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed from the start. Every little detail was carefully taken care of, and it truly felt like a home away from home. I’m genuinely grateful for the way I was treated throughout my stay. Thank you to the entire team – you went above and beyond, and I really appreciate it. My whole experience was unforgettable, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!

We stayed 5 nights and 6 days for a family vacation with our 4-month-old. This was our infants first time on a flight, hotel stay, and overall vacation and our first time to HHI. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the pools, beach, and beautiful resort grounds. There’s been a lot of negative reviews in July due to inconvenience and noise from renovations at the pool area, which I totally understand and would be annoyed at too. But by the time of our first day on 7/27 the main pool and adult pool were fully operational and on 7/30 the pool bar/restaurant Sweet Cane officially reopened. The main amenities of the resort are fully renovated and ready for enjoyment. We booked a first floor terrace pool view room, which was the deciding factor for choosing this resort. The terrace room was perfect because it allowed one of us to conveniently go back and forth between the room and pool/beach while our infant napped and got some nice time in the AC. With notice, they had a crib waiting in our room at check in. The room was clean and renovated, the beach was easily accessible even with a stroller. The resort is on the best location on the island; mid island, so nothing is too far away. For a $40/day resort fee they really should include beach chairs and umbrella, and bikes. Only the bottled water and self-parking are actual perks of the resort fee, the pool towels and gym access should be a given. We babyquip’ed a UPF beach tent for our little one, as well as two beach chairs and an umbrella for the entire stay for a total price less than the $50/day from the beach rental vendor. I give Sonesta 5 stars and would return.

Was overcharged on stay by several hundred $$ as manager agreed to change reservation to 2 day stay (from 3 days) due to poor experience. Tried calling 5 times to resolve and sent to on hold hell after talking with desk. No one will discuss bill. Won't respond to emails either. Experience was bad as it was overcrowded, under construction, hallways not air conditioned (hot) and just not relaxing at all. Room also not ready for paid early check-in and refund offered, but still charged. Something has changed in how they deal with people since my prior stay 5 years ago. There won't be another. Find better options.

Took my family here despite reading some reviews about ongoing renovations and I'm so glad we ignored all the negative Nancy's! (Or should I say Karens) Not sure why people feel the need to complain while they are on vacation at a luxury resort like Sonesta. All the staff were friendly, the pool was zero entry so perfect for my 2-year old grandson and the restaurants had pretty much all you could want from a fancier menu at Sea-Crest to burgers on the patio. I like to people watch when I travel and I just don't understand the complaints, from people at the pool griping about "all the kids in the pool" to people at the bar complaining because THEIR particular favorite cocktail wasn't on the menu. When we were there the only construction left was finishing the adult only pool and finishing the pool bar, but they had a temporary pool bar set up not to mention the bar at the patio and the rum bar. I give Sonesta 5 stars and will be back!

My wife and I had a very good time at the Sonesta Resort at Hilton head. Everybody was very polite and helpful. If you want to thank somebody at Sonesta it would be the lady at the Front desk who was so cooperative.
