I booked a one-night stay at the Sheraton Saigon Opera prior to my flight, transferring after a week-long stay at the Vinpearl Autograph Collection. I chose this location because it was closer to the city center and my event that evening. Having had a memorable stay here three years ago, we had high hopes that we would be well taken care of as elite members. Unfortunately, both the remodeled room and the same old club lounge were a significant downgrade compared to where we had stayed previously. We did not attempt use the Sheraton lounge nor we had the chance to try the breakfast in the morning because our flight out was early AM. The worst part was how our elite upgrade benefits were handled. While we understand upgrades are subject to availability and determined at check-in, the app showed an upgraded “club” room the night before which in itself not an upgrade to an elite member who have platinum or higher status. This was quietly revoked when we checked in, and we were told we got a "higher floor" with all the benefits of the honking and bad sound insulation of the “city street view”—which was a joke compared to the view and peacefulness at the Vinpearl. We asked if there were a higher category room available since the Marriott app was showing multiple higher tier rooms available for booking up toward the late evening but was swiftly met with a rejection response apologizing the discrepancy between the Marriott App and hotel actual occupancy instead of checking. Processing an upgrade to an titanium elite who check in on the app earlier to take it away on check-in day is just distasteful. We deeply regret not following our colleagues and trying the nearby reflagged JW Marriott.

Location is hard to beat: centrally located and walking distance to Nguyen Hue Street, so you’re close to everything without needing a car for most evenings out. We originally booked 2 nights on points and used a Suite Night Award to upgrade the room. We ended up liking the place so much we extended for 2 more nights, paying this time — and the hotel was kind enough to keep us in the same studio with 2 twin beds and let us hold onto the same club benefits for the extended stay. Small thing, but it made a big difference. (For reference, I’m just a modest Platinum member, not Ambassador or anything higher — so this wasn’t some special VIP treatment, just genuinely good service.) Staff were consistently professional and warm across the board — reception, bellboy, housekeeping, all solid. Room service was adequate, and the club lounge/cafe held up well too. We’re late sleepers on vacation — up around 10am most days — so I only made it to breakfast once, right before the cutoff, but that gave me a proper full look at the spread and it didn’t disappoint. I’d already done Li Bai (the in-house Chinese restaurant) on a previous stay at JW Saigon, so skipped it this time around. For food nearby, Maguro Studio is still my favorite — no contest. Highlands Coffee nearby for the easy caffeine run. New this trip: we did a perfume workshop close to the hotel, which turned out to be a fun, engaging activity — my teen genuinely enjoyed it, which is always a win. Overall: great location, reliable service, and a hotel that clearly makes an effort to take care of guests. Will return and highly recommended

Cannot beat the location. Situated in the heart of the city's business and entertainment district, the property is just a 4-minute walk to the iconic Opera house & shopping area. The atmosphere only gets happening in the evening into the nite. The new wing of the looks very nice, though, we chose to stay in the old wing [cheaper]. The staff at this hotel ALWAYS go out of their way to accommodate you for any request. The staff at the Executive Lounge is also very polite and every ready to oblige to your request.
