Nice but not sure worth the high room rate

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We visited over Xmas so granted paid a higher room rate than usual with a compulsory gala dinner added for Xmas eve ($255 with no drinks but a great buffet with entertainment and lobster, turkey etc) Seems the hotel attracts large American tour groups and so prices are targeted to this market. We’ve stayed at other luxury properties in Vietnam and not sure the value for money is there for over $500 per night which for Vietnam in rainy season is really high. The room is not huge and grounds are nice enough, and so is the location but English amongst the staff is not so good - I ordered a veggie omelette and received a bacon one, they were very apologetic and offered me a free massage in return. General communication with most staff was challenging. Breakfast buffet was great with freshly squeezed orange juice and sourdough options - both of which I hadn’t seen at other properties. Most extra activities except yoga come at an extra charge, and are quite expensive. Same for airport transfers, can get a local company or Grab for a fraction of the cost. Kids room was very basic (basically a hotel room repurposed into kids area) but it was easy to leave the kids there for an hour or two with a member of staff if we wanted to get a massage or relax. Would just take them with their own toys or an iPad if desperate! Also easy to arrange a babysitter with 24 hour notice. next time I might stay in an Airbnb to get more space.

Ideal centrally located hotel in Hoi An

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Anantara is a lovely hotel centrally located for the restaurants, markets and spas around Hoi An. We were initially annoyed by banging in the morning as we awoke. The hotel had been flooded only the week before following heavy rain and workmen were clearing up the damage. After we complained about the noise, the staff were very apologetic and offered a complimentary massage which was appreciated and the workmen started later the following days we were there. The manager, Le Thi Thanh Van was very professional and we sympathised with the flood damage. The rooms were light, spacious and complimentary fruit each day. A good, varied selection of foods at breakfast including a gluten-free area.

We did not stay at hotel (will def next time).. we spent time at the hotel bar and had Truang as our bartender .. what a wonderful man, hard worker, people pleaser. He would be the reason we would come back and book here! Great service
