Julio - Reception Extraordinaire

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Julio at reception is by far the best! - Kind, caring with a strong attention to detail Julio is exactly the kind of person this hotel needs. He truly cares about the level of service as well as the comfortability of the hotel guests and team members.

Excellent resort, will definitely return!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Bit of a long review... • The grounds are beautifully kept and the staff work hard at it with only their machetes • The pool on the regular side is large and can accommodate a lot of people • There were great activities every day and entertainment in the evening • Some people have said recently (this was in April) that the a-la-cartes were closed, but we were able to get reservations at all of them. However, we found the food at the buffet, snack bar and beach restaurant excellent as well. • The staff were all excellent – very welcoming and always helpful. Shoutout to Edgar, Yalienny and John from the Royal side, who made our stay so enjoyable. Also shoutout to Danny from maintenance who fixed my husband’s sandals when the strap broke on the first day! He saved us! • We stayed on the Royal side. It was very quiet, which was fine with me. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. In my opinion, it was worth the money if you can book directly with the hotel, but you run the risk of it not being available since the tour operators get priority. I’m not sure if I would bother if I had the expense of booking through the tour operator. However the regular side is excellent as well, and we spent a lot of time there. I can’t speak to the rooms on the regular side, however from what I heard from other guests, they were great as well. • The beaches on both the regular and Royal sides are great - some rocky areas, but easy to find spots where you can get in and reach sandy areas. Plenty of chairs available, but this was in April • Snorkelling was good right off the beach, but we also went on the catamaran, which I would recommend. Very affordable, and it’s private. • The massage at the spa was amazing, such a beautiful, relaxing setting • The only shortage we experienced was no bacon, which was not an issue for us • As for excursions, we did the farewell tour for our last day, which takes you for a tour of downtown Holguin, a visit to the Hill of the Cross, a meal, and access to the VIP lounge at the airport. The restaurant was not great, and we did not eat much, but there were snacks in the VIP lounge. For us it was worth it and a great way to spend the last day. We will definitely return!

GREAT EXPERIENCE!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We had one of the best experiences we ever had in Cuba. Food was insanely delicious compared to other parts of Cuba we have been. If you are looking for a relaxing time or nice and quiet beaches, this is the place. There was horseback riding, snorkelling, catamaran, and many more activities to do. At night, it was not the most active experience, although. However, it had a music band every time we assisted to any of the dinners since they have five restaurants to choose from. Overall, one of the best experiences you could have coming in Cuba specially for the most affordable price value. 9.5 out 10 for me.
