I’ve now stayed at Halepuna Waikiki twice, and it’s become one of my favorite places to stay in Waikiki. The front desk team is consistently capable, professional, and welcoming. Check-in and any requests during my stays were handled efficiently, making for a very smooth experience. The rooms are tastefully updated, comfortable, and well maintained. I especially appreciate that even the standard rooms include a small balcony, which is a nice bonus for enjoying the fresh Hawaiian air. One thing worth noting is that there is a significant difference between room locations. If possible, I highly recommend requesting an ocean-facing room. The views are much more enjoyable than the rooms overlooking the rear parking garage, and it’s well worth asking if availability allows. One of my favorite amenities is the excellent bakery located in the hotel. It’s incredibly convenient for a casual breakfast, coffee, or a quick snack before heading out for the day. The pool is another highlight. It’s a great size, offers beautiful ocean views, and the staff are attentive and friendly. I also really appreciated that part of the pool deck becomes shaded in the afternoon, making it very comfortable to relax even during the warmer part of the day. Beach access is easy, and you’re only a short walk from Waikiki Beach. The hotel’s location is ideal—close enough to walk to all the restaurants, shopping, and activity in Waikiki, yet far enough from the busiest areas that it’s noticeably quieter. I always enjoyed returning to the hotel after a busy day because it feels peaceful and removed from the traffic and crowds. Overall, Halepuna offers an excellent combination of modern accommodations, thoughtful amenities, outstanding service, and a location that strikes the perfect balance between convenience and tranquility. I would gladly stay here again. The room rates are much more reasonable than their sister hotel across the street. It is a great value!

We totally enjoyed our 5 nights at the Halepuna. The hotel is in a great location close to restaurants and shops. The atmosphere is quieter and less busy than other resorts we have stayed at, with no waits for the lifts. The rooms have everything you need and are modern and serviced well. Good value with no resort fees. The staff were always helpful and courteous. We arrived early and enjoyed the extra treats like ice cream in the lobby while we waited for our room, shave ice at the pool another day. Complimentary refillable water bottles were provided with filtered water stations available. Kawehewehe beach a small quiet beach was just down a walkway from the back door of the hotel lobby and great for a quick swim to cool down. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

With its generally quiet atmosphere, conscientious service, and reasonable rates—qualities not found in Waikiki hotels—this might be the perfect hotel for Japanese seniors.

We enjoyed our stay and have nothing bad to say. Although the Halepuna does not have its own private beach access, we were able to take a ~10 minute walk to the public Waikiki beach. The hotel even provided a beach bag and towels for us to use. Highly recommend getting a room with an ocean view!! It was breathtaking. Breakfast was delicious. Try the Mai-tai pancakes!
