Reviews for Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa

Great hotel on Waikiki Beach

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

We loved our stay at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. We stayed in a city view room with 2 queen beds. It was clean and spacious and offered plenty of room for my family of 4. We even got a peak of the ocean from our spacious balcony. The hotel is very conveniently located right in the heart of Waikiki with so many shops and restaurants within walking distance. The beach is right across the street and offered both a calm bay and some waves for boogie boarding or surfing. One major perk of the hotel we enjoyed was the free towel service and beach chair check out. They even had a few boogie boards to check out. We ate at the SWIM restaurant, near the pool area several times and enjoyed our meal each time. There is a great variety on the menu and the portions are generous. The Hyatt Regency provided the perfect stay for our first ever visit to Oahu!

High parking fees

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Didn't like high parking fees and tried self parking but extremely tight. No easy accessibility to move luggage from drop off to lobby, only escalators.

Over priced view.

Resort/spa services were extremely over priced. Not many amenities. No microwave in rooms or coffee service. Rooms not cleaned well.

Dated and moldy carpet. Stay away

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This is probably one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at in Hawaii. The rooms are super dated. Carpet smells like its molded so if you value your health, stay away. Our bath tub was cracked and it was cheaply sealed together using caulk (see screenshot). The water randomly switched to cold during shower. Nice touch of toto Bidet thats the only nice thing and i think only certainly room like our suites has it. Its not a true suite, its 2 connecting room put together btw. Check-in experience was lacking. Staffs didnt inform us of all the hotel activities or handed us a daily sheet. No complimentary upgrade for globalist. Couldn’t even switch our suite to the other tower. Apparently the diamond tower were newly renovated and if u get put in a EWA tower like us, good luck. Its like holiday inn room quality. EWA tower is also terrible because laundry room is on Diamond tower and you gotta take elevator down, walk across and take elevator up. Its very inconvenience for family. Laundry machines also damaged our clothes but im too tired to even get into that details. Club lounge for globalist is also on Diamond tower so you gotta walk across tower too. Very bare minimum stuffs in club lounge. Don’t expect much. The pool is a joke. Its tiny. And you know with a hotel this big, you are in there inches by inches. Best to walk across the beach and swim unless you want to soak in a small pool water of germs. If you enjoy surfing or just adults great, otherwise this area beach is not kid friendly. Bigger waves than a lot of other places. All the dining places at the hotel are overpriced. Their buffet ranging from $50-$100 per person. I mean check out the 3-4 stars google reviews before you spend that much here. Also you are in honolulu, with that price range, you can go pretty far. Im talking michelin stars. Famous places all the way from japan like tonkatsu tamiflu. So yea there are better to spend your money and time. Oh yea. Dont bother emailing management. I sent them some feedbacks. All ignored. They just don’t care. Location wise its not a bad hotels. But i wouldn’t spend too much. Maybe $200 here a night just to sleep honestly. I mean. Check out other reviews.

Great hotel but crazy parking deck

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

The Hyatt Grand Waikiki is a great hotel in a perfect location across from Waikiki Beach. There are so many shops and great restaurants in easy walking distance and of course the beach is directly across the street. We had an amazing 28th floor ocean front room with great views. We didn't eat in any hotel restaurant because of the extremely high prices ($60/person for breakfast buffet). The only other drawback is the self-parking deck. It is crazy tight, almost impossible for 2 cars to pass in each direction. The first 6 floors are used for valet so you have to go up quite a bit to find a place. It was $65 a night. Valet was $85 a night. The only good thing was if the deck was full, you could get valet parking for the same $65 per night.
