The Kahala Hotel & Resort

The layout is welcoming, not modern but from the 70’s. Popular with asian tourists. The room had a great view of the ocean. Upper floor with direct views. At first the hot water did not work the first night, then we called the guest services to fix it and they did repair the issue. Very clean and recently renovated while another guest commented their room was smelling moldy and had to be moved. The people are friendly. If this is considered a 5-star resort there should be a car service for short local trips. There is none. The food at the buffet is very good. Cold pressed vegetable drinks are not all available. I had to ask twice for a carrot pressed drink. At first they said no and I asked again and they said yes. The beach service does not honor guests when they leave their chairs. Even when you tell the staff you will return shortly. They move them or let other guests move your chairs aside. At the pool they will move your items if you leave even to go into the pool if other guests show up. Alan Wong who as we understand is run by a different company, literally ran out of entrees and sides by 7:30pm dinner service. It was very odd. All our guests commented on the same lack of entrees and sides. The food was good. It was a good experience but the fact that certain entrees and sides were not available by 7:30pm for a highly rated restaurant on a Thursday night was unexpected.

Stayed 5 nights. Good service all around and wonderful staff. Lots of good restaurants without going into Waikiki/Honolulu. Pool area could use a refresh though.

We are celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary. We got married here when we’re 24 and 22. We love this hotel. We spoiled and pampered ourselves extra this year. The staff were very well trained and extra friendly compared to last year. We enjoyed the spa services ( massages and pedicure) and soho New York haircut and lashes extension services. The staff at both locations were professional and pampered us. We want to say an extra mahalo to Megan Ibara and Eian Tsosie for the early check in and late check out accommodations and meticulous housekeeping services. They made our stay extra magical and memorable. Also want to shout out to Tre at the seaside grill. Everytime we stopped by and grabbed a bite to eat he was so kind to recommend special dishes and drinks and made us feel so welcome. He is such a friendly cheerful guy. We want to come back every year to celebrate our anniversary. Here’s to another 33 years !! Cheers, Jay and JoAnn Stone

I come to Hawaii once or twice a year and my stay in Oahu is always at the Kahala. I’ve stayed at the hotel for over 20 years and I’ve never been disappointed. The service is always excellent. My only complaint is the new third party concierge company - they don’t even come close to the service the in house concierge group used to give to all of their guests. Also there are some small items that the hotel has gotten rid of that I find disappointing - chocolates on the pillow after the turn down service, inside slippers in the room to use during your stay, chocolate macadamia nuts in the room upon check-in and water bottles given to guests by the valet folks for people leaving the hotel for their excursions.

Always a great experience- beach is best I have ever been to, rooms very spacious, service is spectacular
