Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort

My husband and I are Hawaii residents and this is our favorite hotel. It's in the heart of Waikiki, and the on site restaurants and nightclub cannot be beat. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Always a lovely time.

Perfect beachside spot to soak up the sun. Great on-site dining and close to lots of shopping and food trucks. Outrigger staff were so friendly and made our vacation with friends unforgettable.

Great Location! This hotel was within walking distance to LOTS of places. The beach was fantastic! Parking is expensive, but it's the same cost everywhere. We rented a Turo car for one day to go to the North Shore, but other than that, we didn't need a vehicle.

Pros: comfortable bed and pillows, AC/room temp, spacious room (2 double bed city view), unexpected partial ocean view from balcony, central location in Waikiki, pretty quiet during our stay considering the active construction zone and proximity to street Cons: shower—weak pressure and lukewarm water at best, dated and tired appearance of all aspects of hotel, loud toilet flush, limited grab and go options for a 6am coffee and quick breakfast, construction walls everywhere, elevator walls boarded up with plywood, empty storefronts, pool access through alley that includes smoker area and service area. This was our first time on Oahu, and I wish I had known about the hotel renovation when I booked six months ago. I absolutely would have made a different choice. It was a major disappointment to arrive after an 11-hour flight to find construction walls, boarded up elevators, and no ambiance whatsoever in the hotel that would kick off our Hawaii trip. I imagine this will be a beautiful spot once the renovation is complete but for anyone traveling for the first time to Waikiki who is looking for a true resort feel, please consider staying elsewhere for the immediate future.

We were really let down by this hotel. Don’t be fooled by the pictures—the reality is far from what’s advertised. We weren’t informed about the renovations, which had a huge impact on our stay. The gym and spa—two of the amenities we were most excited for—were completely closed. The hotel has no atmosphere and feels very dated, which only added to the disappointment. The location is excellent, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The club room upgrade wasn’t worth it. It was only open for breakfast and a short window in the late afternoon, with a very limited selection of food and drinks. The space felt more like a staff area than a lounge, with a poor view and no ambience. An outdoor area would have made a big difference. This was meant to be a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience for us, and it fell far short of what we expected. We actually ended up booking a different hotel because the situation was so underwhelming. Overall, the lack of transparency, dated facilities, and reduced amenities made the stay feel overpriced and disappointing.
