We booked our stay at the Outrigger through TripAdvisor. When we checked in we were then told that there was “some renovation work being done but nothing disturbing”. I asked why I wasn’t told when making my reservation over a month before or after until we checked in. I was told (several times) that because I booked through a third party the hotel was not required to inform me about the renovation. I was then told if I upgraded my room to a corner suite on the 10th floor that I wouldn’t be able to hear any of the work. We checked in at 4 PM. We were told that the work didn’t start until 9 AM to 3 PM. What actually happened was that the workers started banging with hammers at about 6AM and then at 9 the really heavy construction started, it sounded like jackhammers. This noise could be heard on the beach it was so loud. At 3 pm the loud work stopped but equipment was being moved around for about an hour. This happened every day during our 4 night stay. When we complained about the noise we were told again that they weren’t responsible because we booked through TripAdvisor. The finally offered to move us to the reef outrigger. We walked over there and were told the room would cost $100 a night more, we were already paying almost $1000 a night for the upgraded oceanfront suite. We went to see the room it was awful. We looked out the windows into other rooms not the ocean. So we decided to stay were we were. On top of this inconveniences the television never worked properly. You couldn’t get a good picture on the screen during the entire stay. I definitely wouldn’t come back to this hotel or recommend it to anyone.

When I booked this prepaid anniversary trip I was told I could cancel up to 30 days prior for full refund. I am having a lot of medical problems from my military disability. That was the only reason I booked. I had my 8th back surgery Apr 27 which was unexpected. I have a huge hole in my back and have to have a wound vac. Home Health said minimum six months to recover. I called Outriggers they refused to cancel the reservation. Here I am a 100% disabled veteran, can’t go due to this military disability related medical condition. Outriggers wants to make the year’s profit at my expense. Not a patriotic minded company. Glad I could sacrifice my body for your freedom to treat Veterans so poorly.

We always enjoy our stay at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort and have done so for many years. The location is perfect to experience the full Aloha of Waikiki! While under renovations in 2026, those activites did not interfere with our time at the resort. The friendly and helpful staff are what make our stay relaxing.
