Reviews for Horseshoe Bay Resort

Terrible ‘resort’ if you want to call it a resort. More like a 1 star motel.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The pricing doesn’t fit the experience. Food outlets on property are aweful. Most waitstaff barely speaks any English, and none of the waitstaff could explain what the food was or the preparation. This included management, all over but Jays was the WORST. The ‘children stay and eat free’ is a bait and switch. Only at certain restaurants, certain times, and most of the staff has no idea what it is. If you don’t say something or ask even if kids are wearing the wristband, then they don’t honor it. The game room, which as part of the amenities they gave this kids a prefilled card, was never working. WiFi in and out, machines broken and have been for a long time. They close the restaurants and other amenities at very early hours. This place is a RIP-OFF. Avoid. Much better offerings available in TX. At a much better value.

Mother's Day 2026

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My son treated me to a nice relaxing Mother's Day weekend and Horseshoe Bay Resort was everything I needed. The property is gorgeous and the amenities are great, especially the spa and restaurant! Every staff member I encountered was cordial and helpful, from the front desk (big shout out to Kito March, who remembered my name whenever I saw him over the weekend 😄); to the very helpful young man working the valet parking who saw me struggling to take a selfie! Whoever trained the staff in customer service did an excellent job. Looking forward to a return visit.

Relaxing, but Not a Ton to Do

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Horseshoe Bay is a beautiful resort with several dining options. We had a pretty good experience, although found the resort a little underwhelming as there weren't many entertainment options for us. If you like the pool or gold you're probably set though! Also, a lot of the things to go to are not all in the same building, so if there is bad weather you need to drive or take a shuttle. We ate - the food was fairly good except for the chip appetizer that we had a J's - would not recommend it. The portion sizes are also a little on the smaller side. We spa'd - the spa was very relaxing and I had the best massage ever there! We drank - the drinks were good, but pricey. We walked - the grounds are very pretty and calm to walk around.

So much potential

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This place has so much potential but lacks attention to detail. This is my second stay for a business meeting in the last 3 years and each time have experienced the same issues. Overall it is a beautiful property and again lots of potential but nowhere close to other golf resorts or conference spaces. Issues: Check in is clunky, rooms not ready even at check in time. Dining service is choppy- getting a table, getting service. Rooms are clean but do not have attention to detail. Toilet not flushing well in my room and room next to me. Rooms were cleaned well but no coffee service replaced in any of our rooms. My desk chair broken and tipped backwards when I sat in it. At the gift shop/ coffee shop, I poured cream from the creamer in my coffee and it was ice water instead of cream. Staff were embarrassed and apologized. Again attention to detail. On the good side- Conference food was good and presented very well. Bar service was good. This property needs grab and go options for food. Other than room service you are limited in later hours of the day.

Saturday "tropical" escape from Austin

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Positives: - The staff was very well trained, provided great service and worked hard to keep the entire property clean. It was very impressive. - landscaping is gorgeous, feels very tropical - tennis courts/pickleball courts looked great (we didn't have time to use) - kid programming was adorable - we were there for Kid Karaoke night. We did not travel with young kids, but still totally appreciate what a nice family environment it was Negatives: - Very long check-in line at 2pm on Saturday (not that many people in line, but it took way too long to check in) - $17 per DAY to self-park a car in an open lot in the Texas sun, which used to be free - after paying $45 for a daily amenity fee -- seriously?? Reduce it to $10 and bundle in the amenity fee if the revenue is so important. - menu options at sports bar and floating pool bar were not very inspiring. Food is decent but very few options. Would love to have seen more BBQ & tacos or coastal inspired things like poke/fish tacos -Miss the days of bikes, & mini golf being included in the amenity fee
