Horseshoe Bay Resort is a beautiful property with a true country club feel, impressive amenities, and a relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed lunch and the breakfast buffet at J’s, and the grounds are well maintained. Unfortunately, the service throughout our three-day stay consistently fell short of what you’d expect from a resort of this caliber. The one exception was Melanie at the Tower Pool bar, who was genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided outstanding hospitality. She was the only staff member who made us feel like valued guests. Our stay began at 360 Sports Bar, where it took 2.5 hours to receive four drinks and two appetizers. The service was slow, inattentive, and lacked basic friendliness. To make matters worse, the flies were relentless—not just there, but during every dining experience throughout our stay. They were a constant nuisance and significantly detracted from the experience. That same lack of hospitality was evident throughout the resort—from hosts and servers to housekeeping. Our room was cleaned, but the beds were hastily thrown together and clean towels were left in a pile on the counter rather than neatly arranged, reflecting an overall lack of attention to detail. The Tower Pool also felt far too small for the size of the resort, with chairs being “reserved” hours before opening, making it nearly impossible to find seating. Our teenagers also felt there wasn’t a pool or space designed for their age group. The resort itself has so much potential, but the guest experience simply doesn’t match the beautiful surroundings or the price point. Comprehensive hospitality training for front-of-house staff and restaurant servers, along with addressing the persistent fly problem, would go a long way. Sadly, after this experience, we won’t be returning.

Cancelled on the day of travel on a holiday weekend! Do to no fault of our own: We booked our holiday weekend travel (which we were willing to pay for three nights despite only being able to stay for two due to my work) to ‘get away’ for America’s 250th and enjoy fireworks from the lawn without crowds (both of us being veterans with over 50yrs cumulative service, and not comfortable in large crowds) weeks ago. Then suddenly today, the hotel called to say there was a problem. The staff ADMITTED that our reservation included we were traveling with two dogs, yet apparently they booked us into a ‘non dog friendly’ room. We awaited a call back with resolution. Crickets. We call them back: their resolution for THEIR mistake? Cancelling us, after 12pm on Friday, the day of travel on a holiday weekend. We had arrangements made for our airplane at the jet center, shuttle to the hotel, breakfast reservations tomorrow morning… and looking forward to RELAXING together… an all too rare occurrence. Now here I am, at work, typing this review wondering how I will salvage the holiday weekend. Apparently stupidly low pass 777 flights aren’t their only judgement lapses at Horseshoe Bay . Do not recommend. You can’t be sure you are going until you are safe in your room.

Fine resort, predatory billing. Fine property, great golf staff — completely undermined by a billing dispute that was never honestly addressed. I received a written confirmation of my charges months before arrival. At checkout I was billed roughly 50% more with no prior notice. When I disputed it, the resort's explanations shifted repeatedly and no supporting documentation for the upcharge was ever produced. Their own partial concession on erroneous charges (like charging for free parking) contradicted their simultaneous claim that everything was billed accurately. After exhausting every option to resolve it directly, with supporting evidence of pricing confirmation, I was stonewalled and forced to initiate a chargeback on my credit card. On top of this, not a single person ever addressed my pricing confirmation, before or after the fact, and yet doubled down on their charges at checkout. Multiple members of our group experienced similar billing errors. If you're booking a golf package here, document everything. Ensure the price they quote is what they will charge, because they will pull every excuse in the book to charge you whatever they want. The resort is fine, the golf is kind of far (but pristine & challenging). It is the management and back office that have been proven to rug pull you on pricing. BEWARE! Oh, and don't miss a tee time because you are relying on the shuttle. On several occasions, they just never showed up! We had to take an Uber to arrive 5 min before teeing off!

The pricing doesn’t fit the experience. Food outlets on property are aweful. Most waitstaff barely speaks any English, and none of the waitstaff could explain what the food was or the preparation. This included management, all over but Jays was the WORST. The ‘children stay and eat free’ is a bait and switch. Only at certain restaurants, certain times, and most of the staff has no idea what it is. If you don’t say something or ask even if kids are wearing the wristband, then they don’t honor it. The game room, which as part of the amenities they gave this kids a prefilled card, was never working. WiFi in and out, machines broken and have been for a long time. They close the restaurants and other amenities at very early hours. This place is a RIP-OFF. Avoid. Much better offerings available in TX. At a much better value.

My son treated me to a nice relaxing Mother's Day weekend and Horseshoe Bay Resort was everything I needed. The property is gorgeous and the amenities are great, especially the spa and restaurant! Every staff member I encountered was cordial and helpful, from the front desk (big shout out to Kito March, who remembered my name whenever I saw him over the weekend 😄); to the very helpful young man working the valet parking who saw me struggling to take a selfie! Whoever trained the staff in customer service did an excellent job. Looking forward to a return visit.
