I called the hotel on the same day I made my reservation specifically to confirm the type of shower in the room. I asked if the bathrooms had stand-in showers with glass doors or shower/tub combos with shower curtains, as I find the latter unsanitary and will not stay in hotels that use them. The representative assured me, “None of our rooms have shower curtains.” However, upon checking in just a few hours later, I was placed in a room with exactly what I asked to avoid — a shower/tub combo with a shower curtain. Not only was this incredibly frustrating, but the room itself was disgustingly filthy. There were chewed and spat-out sunflower seed shells scattered across the floor, stains on the walls and doors, and the towels were covered in what appeared to be pet hair. The toilet barely flushed. I immediately went to the front desk to express my concerns, only to be told they were at full capacity and couldn’t guarantee me a room with the shower type I originally requested — completely invalidating the point of my call in the first place. To make matters worse, the elevators were painfully slow; I waited up to 8 minutes just to get downstairs at one point. I would never stay at this hotel again and highly recommend considering The Laura or Marriott Marquis, both of which are nearby and offer significantly better service and cleanliness.

Jon at the front desk is always so nice and helpful. He remembers our previous stays and always makes us feel at home. Shirley is also very nice. We love the location of the Whitehall because it’s downtown and central to all the hot spots of Houston. The rooms are big and comfortable and the beds are nice and comfortable too.

Beautiful place to stay with a great breakfast and atmosphere! John and Kelvin at the front desk are wonderful, helping with anything that you need! Within walking distance of many restaurants and Toyota Center and even Daikin Park if you are a walker.
