Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin was once an important stop along the railway from Bangkok to Malaysia. The original Railway Hotel was a staple of the booming Hua Hin area in the 1920’s. Now, the newly renovated resort set along the Gulf of Thailand features rooms & suites with bright white facades, dark wood flooring and private terraces. Eight world-class golf courses are minutes away from the resort. The Railway Restaurant features striking checkerboard flooring with bright white terraces overhead to replicate the original railway station, and serves Thai cuisine with international and European influences in an indoor/outdoor venue. SPA Cenvaree sits in a tropical garden and features traditional Thai Healing herbs and oils.

Our family group from the UK and Australia returned to the Centara Grand Hua Hin in April – the perfect location for loved ones separated by miles and continents to meet and spend time together. This third visit as a group - and my sixth since 2010 - further cemented just what a special place this is. It’s not surprising that there are so many repeat guests. From Khun Petch’s welcoming beaming smile to the calm efficiency of the reception, concierge, tour desk and housekeeping teams, the gracious hospitality in the club lounge and restaurants, dedication of the gardening team and friendly assistance at the pools - all steered by GM supremo Jan – this is truly a dream team in dream surroundings. The recent renovations to the garden wing – where we were allocated premium club twin rooms on the ground floor, very handy for the beautifully remodelled garden or ‘Elephant’ pool – add stylish design and modern touches to the heritage architectural surroundings. The bathrooms are beautiful, with white tiles, antique brass fittings, huge freestanding baths and handy shower/WC cubicles. The huge walk-in wardrobe amply housed our copious luggage and new smart TVs allowed us to log into our Netflix accounts. The beds were super-comfy and we particularly liked the subtle motion activated nightlights. We did feel the addition of an external key to the patio door would allow for access from room to pool and vice-versa while maintaining security – but we were able to use the in-room safes for valuables so we did tend to leave the doors unlocked whilst at the nearby pool. The ongoing renovations, whilst restricting some areas such as the Colonial wing (where we usually stay) and pool and parts of the main lawn (and it’s beautiful ocean aspect), are not at all intrusive. Noise levels are barely perceptible and while the work was evident it did not in any way detract from our relaxation or enjoyment of our nine day stay; also the operational areas of the hotel are absolutely immaculate – so please don’t let the construction work deter you from booking. (From the image on the boundary fence, the new Colonial pool will be absolutely stunning!) Breakfast each day offered a huge selection suiting all palates and really great coffee. The club lounge presented fantastic value with superb offerings throughout the day – soup and sandwiches at lunch time, refined afternoon tea with more sandwiches, cakes and scones and then the highlight: cocktail hour! This was a key milestone every day for our group, a chance to gather and share memories of each day - the kids loving the Shirley Temple mocktails and the grown-ups sampling a selection of the alcoholic variety along with the fantastic canapes. That said, we also took advantage of the generous Baht Booster to enhance our budget for incidental spend. This enabled us to benefit from added value at the Coast and Railway restaurants, room service and poolside drinks and lunches. Two of the group also enjoyed treatments at Spa Cenvaree which provided a welcome interlude of calm serenity! (Our party included kids aged 11 to 17 so this was much appreciated…!!) Khun Noona’s Balinese massage was absolutely divine! Also a huge thank you to Khun Joy and Khun AnAn who helped us book an afternoon trip to Kuiburi National Park where we were astounded and extremely fortunate to see 35 mother and baby elephants in their natural surroundings. Truly a memorable experience. I celebrated my birthday during our stay and was delighted to find a beautiful and delicious cake delivered to my room. A lovely surprise! Only one little negative which was service times in the restaurants, notably Coast where there were some inconsistencies (with two dishes arriving straight away and the rest around an hour later.) Appreciate the follow-up from the team to the survey comments I shared. It wasn’t a huge issue and we still enjoyed our evening. And we loved the buffet night! Also a word for the social media team who are absolutely smashing it at the moment with fantastic content, from cultural celebrations to nature rescue (loved reading about the baby owl, cared for and reunited with its mother!) I shall continue to follow the goings on from afar, whilst dreaming of our next visit! Thank you Jan and team for looking after us all so well. Wishing you all the very best with the ongoing refurbishment and we look forward to returning to see it all once completed! And belated Happy Songkran!

The staff of Centara hotel in Hua Hin is very friendly and professional. A special compliment for the GM because he is very friendly to the guests, kind en professional to the staff and he runs the hotel perfect, also with all the renovations. We travel a lot but we never met a GM who is so genuinely interested in people and does his job with a smile. 👍🏻

Just returned from the Centara in Hua Hin, we had a lovely time there. The hotel was great, although renovations are still ongoing. This didn’t have any impact on us. The pools were great, food was excellent. The staff here are very good and some of them worked there for years. Couldn’t do enough for you. The centara has a lot of return visitors, as we will be from now on. Hopefully we can book soon and come back to the peaceful oasis!

From the moment we first entered the hotel to the time we left we were met with warm sincere smiles and fabulous hospitality. We stayed 8 nights and overall the hotel was fabulous. The service levels were always attentive from all the staff. Our room was spacious and well equipped looking over the gardens which were immaculate. Breakfast was really good with a wide variety of cold and hot foods which in some cases changed daily which we enjoyed. The quality of the food was very good with both western and Asian options available for breakfast. The pools are surrounded by beautiful gardens and it was a delight to wake up each morning to the sound of birds singing. We had an amazing time here and would highly recommend this hotel.

This place is a haven of tranquillity, as you step out of your car you are greeted by the broad smile of Petch who never stops smiling. Although there are renovations ongoing and some noise it doesn’t detract from the feeling of peace and calm. The staff are wonderful always eager to help and serve in anyway. Shout out to Yung at the Garden Pool as soon as anyone steps into tho pool area he is there with Towels,he seems to know if you want your umbrella up or down and will rush over to do it for you.with building works and the fact you are Two minutes from the town you would know once at the pool area it really is a oasis of peace. The Club Lounge is worth the upgrade as an escape from the heat of the day with snacks and drinks available at most times of the day. Also a great place to meet your fellow travellers for free pre dinner drinks early evening. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Thank you to everyone at Centara for the most amazing restful stay.
