Set on a two and a half-hectare site with 200 metres of frontage on the fabled Perfume River, Azerai La Residence, Hue has 122 rooms & suites. The colonial mansion at the heart of the resort was built in 1930s as part of the residence of the French Resident Superieure. The mansion’s distinctive façade, its long horizonal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmark of the streamline moderne school of art deco architecture. Its two complementary wings, built in 2005, are contemporary in design yet echo elements of art deco aesthetics and embrace an expansive tropical garden and salt-water swimming pool.

The hotel is truly first class. It is comfortable, very clean, beautiful and most of all the staff are wonderfully friendly, helpful, and always interested in making sure that guest feel welcome and have whatever one needs. I would like to give special thanks and recognition to Tam, Nguyen, Vy, Khoi, and all the breakfast and spa staff and housekeeping staff who made our stay special.

La Residence in Hue was originally the home of the French governor to Viet Nam during the colonial era. It is now a very comfortable and accommodating hotel option in the ancient capital, evocative of another time. We recently spent three nights in Hue at the Azerai La Residence. It was the perfect place to stay. Despite the problems caused by catastrophic weather conditions over the past few months, the property presented in splendid glory with beautiful grounds, an atmospheric interior and a sparkling pool. An absolute testament to the people who work in and care for the hotel. Our room had a view of the Perfume River and the flag flying over the battlements of the Imperial Citadel. The room was well proportioned, had a separate toilet to the bathroom area and a very comfortable bed. We ate twice at the hotel in the evening and the food was excellent. Breakfast is a feast of western and SE Asian offerings. Much of it cooked to order. We had a very pleasant stay and felt very well looked after. Special mention to all the people that form the heart of the Azerai hotel. They are warm, welcoming and eager to help. A special mention to the delightful Nguyet as Concierge and Tri who assisted with a seamless check in. We travelled to Hoi An following our stay in Hue and arranged a private transfer through the hotel. It was reasonably priced for the distance and the sites we visited on the journey. Our driver Quy was very competent and careful in undertaking the journey. We had a number of stops along the way including lunch at the beautiful Lap An lagoon, a drive up and over Hai Van pass and a stop at Marble Mountain near Danang. Quy was very professional, informative and attentive to our needs. The trip was a highlight as we had only previously flown this route before and not had the opportunity to see the fantastic scenery in this part of Viet Nam. You will not be disappointed if you select the Azerai for your home in Hue. Be sure to talk to Nguyet about the day trips on offer through the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, a former government residence of the French, beautifully maintained. Our room was comfortable, well equipped, and quiet, overlooking the pretty gardens and pool. The breakfast buffet was extensive with local specialties and fruits as well as international foods. Most of all, the staff here is superb. Our concierge, Ms. Nguyet, corresponded extensively before our arrival, as well as making last minute arrangements, all exactly what we wanted. On a day trip she arranged to Hoi An, our driver, Mr. Qui, was wonderful. He drove us over a mountain pass for the scenery on a very windy road, and brought us back at night in some heavy rains, all very safely and skillfully.

Beautiful relaxed hotel by the river. Staff amazingly helpful, especially Khoa who kindly took some photos of myself outside of the hotel. Will definitely return out of rainy season.
