Azerai La Residence, Hue

This Review is with mixed feelings but for the sake of honesty people take from here I decided to mention. The hotel is aware of it and should adjust the pictures and especially room descriptions. They said they will do that but I can’t see that after 3 months and especially considering the building in front is there for at least 1year and nothing happened on the hotel side. We booked two expensive riverside delux rooms/suites and on our arrival we were given really bad rooms with a light big building in front of us - so absolutely no river to be seen. Only after a lot of trouble at the check-in desk where I had to fight for my right to get what I booked and showing pictures what the webpage looks like, I was given a bit better rooms but still no open river view as promised. One of the check-in managers was even rude and made it very hard to even get what you booked. That was looking back a really strange experience and did not happen to me before, that you had to fight for something you booked before and I am not talking an upgrade, just to get what you booked. We arrived late evening and it was extremely stressful for the next hour. The next day that escalated to management and we got offered drinks at the bar and spa treatments (Sadly the Spa itself was closed for refurbishment or just because low number of guests, not sure) I have to say, yes thanks but not something we really would have booked or needed. I requested the room price would be downgraded to the price of a none riverside view but that was not done and with my credit card already charged I had no chance. Considering if I would have known before I would have booked another room that was half price without the view that does not exist anymore or decided for another cheaper hotel. I insisted not paying the taxi from the airport to at least recover some of the lost money but honestly I was still way out of pocket. So to highlight most of the hotel staff is really very nice but travelers should know what they booking and getting. There are no riverside view rooms in this hotel anymore, neither has the restaurant river view anymore, as there is a big beach club building in front of it which was build 2 years ago. There was loud music when we arrived but I believe that stops at 10pm. They build a big green wall in between but that does not fix the problem. I do appreciate that as the manager said, the situation had been made very difficult for the hotel after the building was approved and built, but there needs to be adjustments on the website and the pictures should reflect what it is today and not few years back. They count on most guests coming 1 time during their Vietnam tour and being surprised but most of them just accepting the error. I wish the hotel really the best and the staff - but honesty as well.

What an incredible place to spend a few days while in Hue. The hotel radiates luxury, and the staff are first class. Their warmth and professionalism was effortless. Truly welcoming.

Stayed here for two nights and loved its great location by the Perfume River. There are two wings connected by the main entrance but there didn’t seem to be that many guests around. I booked my room via Booking.com and requested a room on a high floor, which they confirmed, but when I arrived, was told that I was given a room on the 1st floor (room 111), although it was a corner room overlooking the futsal court and construction. This meant that the mornings were a bit noisy as I could hear footsteps above me, shouting outside my room as well as housekeeping making noise around 7am. Breakfast was fine and the staff were friendly, although a bit over-attentive at times. I think they meant well but sometimes I just wanted a nice, relaxing breakfast without feeling rushed. The spa is the best part of this hotel as I went to the spa twice with Minh as my therapist - she really knew how to massage the kinks and knots in my shoulders. Well worth the money spent! Had dinner once at the restaurant: ordered the caesar salad, crab soup and lime cheesecake (which didn’t taste that great). The spa noticed my feedback on the cheesecake and were so kind to remove it from my bill. I really liked the location of the hotel and will surely return to Hue, so will return to Azerai, but will opt for another floor or room category instead.
