Set on a two and a half-hectare site with 200 metres of frontage on the fabled Perfume River, Azerai La Residence, Hue has 122 rooms & suites. The colonial mansion at the heart of the resort was built in 1930s as part of the residence of the French Resident Superieure. The mansion’s distinctive façade, its long horizonal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmark of the streamline moderne school of art deco architecture. Its two complementary wings, built in 2005, are contemporary in design yet echo elements of art deco aesthetics and embrace an expansive tropical garden and salt-water swimming pool.

Excellent return to a terrific Art Deco hotel- very well renovated and maintained by new owners. Great food and staff. Just hope the development next door does not spoil it.

We spent a few days at Azerai, including Christmas Eve with a wonderful celebration organised by Azerai. The staff went a long way to make it a special evening for the guests, and it was indeed memorable. The staff member in charge of the restaurant let us try the wines we were choosing for our Christmas celebration until we were happy with our choice. The manager reserved an extra room for us for Christmas Eve in case the celebration in a neighboring restaurant elsewhere would disturb our sleep, but it ended early and we happily stayed in our room, with the peace of mind of having been given this thoughtful choice. We also enjoyed their great spa, and the massage by Ms. Kimanh was the best I have ever had. She really took care of me with great relaxation techniques, applied as an art. I made sure to go once again to the spa for another massage with her in the following day, before my check out. We have only to thank everyone at Azerai. The staff was so kind, attentive and pleasant throughout our stay. We will remember fondly of it, whether in relation to the place, service, meal and drinks, and hope to have the opportunity to come back soon.

We are returning guests and stayed here on a family New Year's vacation. It's a charming Art Deco colonial-style property with warm service and a great riverfront location. The rooms are either river-facing (the river view is subjective) or some rooms face the inner courtyard, which I would recommend. The hotel organised a local cultural experience of lion and dragon dance at the New Year's Eve gala party. The bar serves up delicious cocktails, and the breakfast spread is generous. The hotel can help arrange a dragon boat to cruise at sunrise (foggy) or sunset down to the pagoda and a cosy garden up the steps with a functioning monastery at the back. The only setback would be this huge commercial complex that's behind the property, which can be noisy at times with karaoke and entertainment. All in all, I can't think of a better place to relax and be lazy in this sleepy, charming imperial city.
