On an Island in the Adriatic Sea, amidst medieval towns and ancient cobbled streets, find a resort that looks as if its stepped directly out of the pages of a modern architectural digest. Overlooking the cerulean blue sea, with fantastic terraced gardens and a cascading waterfall filled pool, Amfora, Hvar Grand Beach Resort is the new jewel of Croatia's ancient resort Island of Hvar. Enjoy sun and surf from the private beach, rejuvenating body treatments at the Sesori O center and Secori C Spa at the iconic 1930s Bonj Les Bains beach club, and dine under billowing white tents on a teak deck as the sunsets. Romantic, luxurious, and chic beyond all reason, Amfora makes it is easy to see why Condé Nast Traveler rated Hvar as one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world.

The hotel is very good – spacious, well located, with a great pool and a very good breakfast. The rooms are not very big, but they are comfortable and the size is not an issue at all. The sea view rooms are definitely the best. Unfortunately, the room did not have an electric kettle or a coffee machine to make tea or coffee in the morning or at the end of the day. Our room had a connecting door to another room, which caused a bit of noise, but nothing that negatively affected our stay. You can easily walk from the ferry terminal to the hotel, and there’s always a car with the hotel’s name waiting – you can leave your luggage with them, and they’ll bring it to the hotel while you enjoy a pleasant walk. The same applies when you’re leaving. It would be nice if the hotel had ice machines available in different wings so guests could easily get ice to take to their rooms.

Well, I had a sneaking suspicion that it was gonna be a bust when I saw the van that they were throwing my luggage into when we departed the boat from the pier. - beat to hell with kids in T-shirts with no identifiers. When we drove up to the resort, the landscaping in the circular drive looked like something from a cheap Mexican resort in the 1980s, so I tried to overlook it and hoped for the best. When we checked in, they had no record that our room had been paid for although I had fully paid the travel agent upfront 30 days prior to the departure for the trip. The reception desk looked beat up and tired. This is a big resort so I wasn’t surprised that we had quite a long walk to the room, but what did surprise me was that none of the signs to our room were in English, especially the one to take the elevator that had a damaged floor and looked like a Service lift . No bellboy to greet us to take our luggage down, just a real poor experience from the minute we got here. The rooms are equally underwhelming. Dated, small and cheap would be the best description I could make - no in room coffee service, really cheap towels, and no king bed although that’s what I paid for. I got a queen instead. The Teavel agent claimed that this was a four star hotel - might’ve been 30 or 40 years ago, but certainly not today. Reminds me of a moderately priced Mexican hotel that I would stay in with buddies in college. If you are expecting a nice place, avoid this place like the plague.

We have just returned from 9 days at this beautiful hotel. Having noted some mixed reviews we weren't entirely sure what to expect but our experience was entirely positive. The location is stunning and a short 10 minute walk along a very pretty seafront walk into the bustle of Hvar town. The pool is exceptionally large with well established trees all around and on islands within it. It's spotlessly clean as is the hotel. We had two rooms for our family (sea facing) and both had what appeared to be recently refitted bathrooms with large walk in showers (good water pressure and temperature). Extra large and comfy bed. Our air con worked fine too! Our room also had plenty of storage which has been a rarity on our numerous travels. We found all the staff we met throughout our stay to be polite and friendly. The buffet breakfast was tasty, fresh, varied and plentiful. The view from the restaurant is a stunning panorama over to the Pakleni Islands. Without doubt this hotel was a pleasure to stay in. We would happily return and have no hesitation in recommending it.

I really enjoyed my stay at Amfora. The hotel was very clean, the food was delicious, and the staff were kind and helpful. It was my birthday yesterday, and they surprised me with a cake and a card in my room, which was such a nice touch. There’s a beautiful pool on-site, and just a minute away is a beach club. I even had a 30‑minute back massage right on the beach, it was so relaxing. I’d definitely recommend this hotel for a nice, easy getaway.

Two families, total seven people stayed here, we had three rooms. Of all the places we’ve stayed in Portugal, Barcelona, and Croatia, this was by far the worst. Water pressure was nonexistent, at times it’s just dripping from the showerhead. Staff is not overly friendly but adequate. You have to pull teeth to get questions rather than them volunteering information. It seems that this attitude comes from the top The rooms were clean and adequate. Location was away from the main building, which was strange. Paragraph pool area is nice. The lack of available water, was of concern. Drinkable, Water it seems is at a premium here.
