In the cerulean blue Adriatic Sea lies Hvar, Croatia an island of rugged cliffs and rolling hills covered by vineyards and wild flowers. Medieval villages dot the coastline, and sandy beaches give way to gentle coves and inlets. The summers are warm with gentle breezes and gentle sunshine, and the winters mild. Hovering on the waterfront promenade in the heart of Riva is, the Riva Yacht Harbour Hotel. Completely restored in 2006 incorporating a beautiful 100-year-old building, Riva brings together the best of old world charm and modern luxury for true Adriatic ambiance.

This hotel is conveniently located next to the harbor promenade with restaurants within walking distance. Room decor is new and upscale but tiny with no room for 2 suitcases. I had to move the sofa to make room for one suitcase and put the other suitcase on top of the sofa. Last but not least, breakfast was superb.

5-8 min walk from parking where our coach dropped us off…hotel would take care of big suitcases but insisted customers carried their hand luggages so some of the elderly members of our group had to drag their carry-on all the way along the cobble stones (in the rain). Welcome drinks were appreciated after the short walk. The rooms, although very small for that price (more expensive than our spacious room in Amphora Hotel Split), was very nicely decorated with the ocean theme, and tailor made furniture to fit in the small space. Some of us opened their suitcases in their bathroom (relatively big compared to actual room space, surprisingly), while we put our smaller ones on the two steps going out to the small patio. If you are taking your kids with you, you definitely need two rooms. For our month long travel in Southern Europe and North Africa, our suitcases occupied all the space available in the tiny room. It would be perfect for max 2 ppl travelling for a few days only with a small hand carry on. Nonetheless, a Nespresso machine was provided in the clean room with nice cups. Toiletries were also adequate. (Just wish they had more hooks in the bathroom because there was not enough closet space, which might be blocked by suitcases). Breakfast was fancy (a bit crowded during our stay because outdoors was opened due to weather). It was half buffet and half a la carte. Service was friendly. There were also fruit and cookies in the lobby. The gym was also very nice and well equipped consider we were on an island. Location was also great for walking/running both ways along the waterfront or walking uphill to the castle ( nuns on 1/3 the way, small botanical garden 2/3 the way with very nice views of the harbour and the villages)

We stayed here with a Gate1 tour group, and this hotel truly offers the best of everything. It’s just steps away from the plaza, yet far enough removed that the noise never interferes with a relaxing stay. The hotel is newly renovated, beautifully decorated, and very well appointed. Thoughtful extras like a Nespresso machine, in-room safe, bathrobes, and other amenities made our stay especially comfortable. The restaurant serves a fantastic breakfast and an excellent lunch, along with a full-service bar. The service throughout the hotel was impeccable. I would highly recommend staying here.

Positives, hotel is updated, pretty, modern conveniences, great location, breakfast buffet plenty of options including mimosas and made to order coffees and egg dishes. Challenges, rooms are SMALL. If traveling alone, you will be fine but for 2 people in the room, storage is terrible and nothing really can be done to fix it. Bedding comfy, bathroom has lower shelf storage, just not for clothes so would do short trip only. Had laundry done here mid trip which was fast but pricey, think $15 Euro per pair of pants or shirt…. Not a fan of glass bathroom doors either seeing into everything but also knocking into each other between the shower and bathroom entrance. Noise outside to the side and front of the hotel will be present from late night parties, but this is Hvar, so you should expect that. Right next to Ferry Dock, SO convenient for Catamaran/Ferry travel. Did the Stari Grad E Bike Tour with Authentic Lunch - highly recommend. It rained our other day in Hvar which meant gushing water down the town stairs everywhere, slippery stones and the sea washing up on the sidewalks - be careful. We went to a sister property for Spa (Princess Elizabeth) where there is a lovely patio, pool, sauna, steam room and professional masseuse team who knew what they were doing, so that was a nice option set up through Riva Concierge. Dinner at Don Quixote practically next door was AMAZING - get the Lady Steak for fresh filet, local salts and add a side of grilled vegetables with their Caesar dressing on the side. Best meal in Croatia for me. Fig was an unexpected treat in a hidden alley for their Watermelon Feta Salad. Those two meals were the highlight of our week of dining in Croatia, so Hvar for food was fantastic. Reservations highly recommended, but do on arrival with Riva concierge or before you travel. Overall, Riva would be 5 star but the rooms just can’t improve because of their space.

We have spent the most amazing stay in Riva Marina Hotel in Hvar town. It was really the most gorgeous experience we have ever had in our 5 nights stays. The la carte breakfast was very good, it has many choices, fruits, croissants, omelet, white omelet, fried eggs, chia puddings etc., and the restaurant staff were very kind, friendly and helpful. And when we request some information about the taxi boat to Pakleni Islands and places of interest, the ladies and gentlemen of the reception office were very professional to introduce the famous points on the map which was very helpful to us. Luckily, the hotel allocated a very gorgeous marina terrace suite to us, which had a very beautiful and large terrace overlooking the stunning views of Hvar bay and Pakleni Islands! You have the prime seat on the marina and can enjoy breathtaking Harbour view. In summary, if you want to stay at the best hotel in Hvar town of Croatia……..make sure it’s at Riva Marina! We will come back!
