In the cerulean blue Adriatic Sea lies Hvar, Croatia an island of rugged cliffs and rolling hills covered by vineyards and wild flowers. Medieval villages dot the coastline, and sandy beaches give way to gentle coves and inlets. The summers are warm with gentle breezes and gentle sunshine, and the winters mild. Hovering on the waterfront promenade in the heart of Riva is, the Riva Yacht Harbour Hotel. Completely restored in 2006 incorporating a beautiful 100-year-old building, Riva brings together the best of old world charm and modern luxury for true Adriatic ambiance.

Great location right on the marina and steps to the ferries,. Hotel and room are very nicely finished, we are used to small rooms travelling in Europe but this room was exceptionally small, with no room to move around at all, suitcases opened on the bed and then stored underneath; very limited storage; stool with a pullout shelf for a desk which then blocked access to the fridge; the only saving grace was the delightful balcony with great views of the activities around the harbour. For some reason they play music outside from first thing in the morning to late at night even when there is no one sitting outside. Breakfast was fine, a la carte and buffet, would get very busy with tour groups – we had to wait one morning for a table until the group cleared out; they rely heavily on outdoor seating, but too cold during our stay. Nicely finished hotel in great location but I struggle to recommend it due to tiny size of rooms.

Nicely centrally located modern waterfront hotel. Smallest rooms that I have seen except for one in Paris twenty years ago. Smaller than any cruise ship cabin. No place to place suitcases except under beds, which fit poorly due to supports. Garden view rooms face a rear wall. Very clean rooms with decently sized bathrooms. However, the hotel should include instructions on how to operate the Hans Grohe bath fixture. I’ve never had to take 15 minutes to figure one out, as it was a very unique mechanism. Very comfortable beds. I wound up sitting in the lobby to read, as the only place to sit in the room was the bed, once suitcases were open, with one partially under the bed. Maybe they need large wall mounted shelves for suitcases.

Amazing hotel, staff are super friendly and helpful. They collect you from the ferry on your arrival and walk you to the hotel, approx 30 seconds away. Complimentary drinks on arrival. Room at the back of the hotel was spotlessly clean. Wonderful huge bed but a little cramped if you have lots of luggage. Breakfast part self service but also lovely freshly cooked hot breakfasts. The whole experience was wonderful and very peaceful and relaxed.

Riva Marina Hotel was a rip-off. When asked what amenities you have, the response was they were in the center of town. That’s it. No pool. The room was the size of a walk-in closet. No place to put your luggage. A bathroom with a see through glass door (really?) For over $500 euros, would expect more from a so-called boutique hotel. I’d recommend Amphora Hotel instead. For $200 less you get a nice room, a beautiful pool & deck; an excellent lobby & bar; and a wonderful buffet breakfast. Oh yes, they have a beach on the water.
