Overpriced and very poorly maintained 'luxe' hotel. 3*+ max now. Avoid

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Avoid this hotel. Rooms are old, smelly, and plagued with broken air conditioning, lights, and switches, poor water pressure. We had to change rooms three times in just a two-night visit, including one that flooded on arrival. The holiday was ruined to us just hanging around in between check in's, check out' of the 'new' room that would be worse than the previous. And the original booking was already for a premium rooms at eur700+/night. Breakfast was €40 per person yet basic and terribly slow, and the 'upsacale' rooftop restaurant ran out of half the menu on our second night. So there was no bright spots about the food either. This hotel is not clean, caters to young families with small children. Hard to believe this is a “Leading Hotel of the World” or "Luxe"— it’s a property in steep decline and higher than average small children count just adds to further demolition of what might have been something upscale back in the day. Staff try 'something' and 'sometimes' but really are not helpful. Besides the embarassing room screw up, reception charged full amount 1300 EUR of stay twice for the room that was already fully prepaid in advance, breakfast staff came to the table after 40 minutes at breakfast ( you can't grab a hot dish without a waiter). Cleaning was either poor or not existent at all (room skipped). Common areas are dated, glass elevator walls were filthy. Usually such negative reviews end with praising the staff as a 'bright spot'. This is nitbteccase, I had to explain our troubles in this hotel to at least three receptionists, every time they acted surprised this is going on and promised to resolve shortly and then I've never heard from them or seen any action. Mind that room phones also do not work ( loud cracking sound impossible to understand) so you have to physically go down to ask for anything. Staff, in general, says that we came during peak season so rooms not being functional is our problem and not the management trying to squeeze the last € from this crumbling hotel. This is not a 5* hotel, not 'luxe', not 'deluxe', not 'leading' and not for adults (last one is not a problem - but beware what you are buying).

Not a 5 star hotel, service is lousy.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The hotel itself is nice but the service is lousy. We arrived at 2pm with children and our room should have been ready for check in at 3pm. Nearly 6pm until we got our room. We had to sit and wait for 3 hours, It was unacceptable. They barely even apologised. Seem like a regular occurrence. Lots of unhappy people sat around waiting for rooms that are not ready on time. One of our children smashed one of the provided glass water bottles in the room. shards of glass were absolutely everywhere, we called down expecting someone to come. Noone did, an hour later we called again, no one came again, we offered to come and get a brush ourselves, concerned our little one would cut her feet. They didnt allow it. We went out for dinner, still noone came to sort the glass hours later. We called down again, eventually some came and got the majority of it up but we were still dodging shards of glass for the next day. Despite leaving 'please clean" signs on our door, house keeping kept missing our room. The breakfast experience was usually fine, but on one of the days our order of omelettes was completely forgotten, we kept asking how long it would be to be told the kitchen was busy, after an hour of waiting, we upped and left without eating because we had a reservation to get to. I fed these complaints to staff as things happened and i even visited the reception to complain about the multiple poor experiences, and no one really did anything, on check out i mentioned our experience hadn't been great and was handed a comment card.

Do not recommend this hotel

Very disappointed with this hotel and wish I had listened to the reviews. The breakfast is below average, room service served us cold food on every occasion and the staff were not helpful. There was a fire alarm in the early hours of one morning which continued for over an hour. There were no staff to guide the guests and no announcements made to let us know that this was a false alarm. We, along with many other guests made our way down the emergency exit only to find that the emergency staircase was full of boxes and chairs. If this was a real fire, then having a staircase which is not clear could have been fatal. Additionally, one of the doors which would have led us to the outdoors was locked. Eventually, we found our way out. We stood outside for 20 minutes. There were no staff to be seen. A complete shambles. The spa changing rooms were dirty and smelt. It completely put us off and we didn't use this facility. Money was taken from my account which I did not authorise and I had to call the hotel on numerous occasions to ask about the charges but I received no help. Eventually after the 10th call, I had to threaten them with legal action before I got a response. Do not stay here. There are plenty of other hotels in Ibiza.

Overrun by entitled families

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Avoid if you dont have kids. I went for a moderately priced room - still 400+ a night and while it had generous proportions, we had a view of a building site and had neighbours who thought it OK to party on their balcony all night. Luckily we changed rooms half way though the stay but the bed was uncomfortable so still didnt sleep well. The pool is a no go area as it is impossible to get a sunlounger, and even if you could you would have to endure 30 screaming kids running around. The roof terrace is lovely but you dont have to be a resident to get up there. But one of the main problems with this hotel is the ego of the clientele. Flashy, loud and entitled with zero by way of manners. This was a special occasion and I wished I'd stayed at the trusty Tres Torres which has hard beds but a peaceful and friendly atmosphere with great service and food, and a better location. If you have a huge ego and the funds for a sea view suite then you'd probably still be better off at the Melia.
