A Memorable Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Our stay at this hotel was one of the highlights of our Brazil tour. The hotel location, decor, service and food, everything was just perfect. It's inside the Iguazu National Park and the waterfall is right in front of it. As hotel guests we enjoyed the queit time at the waterfall without any crowd in the mornings and evenings. About a month before our scheduled stay I sent email to the hotel to organize our airport pickup and tour. They were very prompt to respond to my request and organized a perfect 2- day itinerary for us. The Concierge organized our trip to the Bird park, Helicopter tour and boat ride under the waterfall. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to the Bird park, boating point. Enjoyed the tours thoroughly. The hotel offers a guided tour at 7.30 every morning, which was great. Being inside the National park it's a Bird watchers paradise. There are a lot of Coatis around, used to human. Each and every person at the hotel are very courteous and attentive to the needs of the guests. Food was great too. Breakfast had a large spread with a large selection of fruits. There was chocolate testing in the morning and cake testing in the evening. The hotel is a bit pricy, but worth every penny. We are very satisfied with our stay and highly recommend this hotel.

A Magical Birthday Stay at Hotel das Cataratas – Unforgettable in Every Way

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I had the pleasure of spending my birthday at Hotel das Cataratas, and I cannot speak highly enough of the property and the overall experience—from check-in to check-out. Upon entering my room, I was greeted with a thoughtful birthday card and a delicious mini cake, setting the tone for what became a truly unforgettable stay. The hotel is stunning, yet intimate. It’s beautifully appointed with tasteful décor, and there are charming ceramic pieces throughout the property by Cerâmica Luiz Salvador from Rio de Janeiro—some of which are available for purchase in the lovely on-site gift shop. Every staff member I encountered was professional, warm, and attentive—from the shuttle stop at the front gate to the front desk team, guest relations, concierge, gift shop, spa, restaurant and bar staff, and housekeeping. While I can't recall all their names, I’d like to especially recognize Douglass, Giulia, Anderson, Carolina, and the wonderful guest relations staff - all of whom went above and beyond throughout my stay. The breakfast buffet was expansive and fresh, offering a wide variety of high-quality options. I only discovered the lunch buffet on my last day, and it was equally delightful. The piano bar is cozy and elegant, and room service was consistently excellent. I must specifically mention the club sandwich at the patio bar—hands down the most unique and delicious club sandwich I’ve ever had. It honestly deserves a Michelin star. And let’s not forget the welcome truffle—a small chocolate that is utterly unforgettable. Someone really needs to package and sell these! The hotel’s location is unbeatable. Just steps from the entrance is a private observation platform and trail to Iguaçu Falls, allowing you to enjoy the views during early mornings and evenings when the crowds have left the park. It’s a serene and almost surreal experience. The hotel also offers lovely touches like afternoon cake, champagne on the lawn, and beautifully arranged picnic experiences between the hotel and the Falls. The spa is not to be missed—I enjoyed two days of incredible massages, aromatherapy, and the steam room. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the name of the masseuse. She was one of the best I have ever had. Her hands are magic and her energy was beautiful. Pure relaxation. The rooms are stylish and comfortable. Because the hotel is a historic property, the suites do not have views of the Falls, but they are spacious, luxurious and well-appointed. The Deluxe Falls View Rooms are lovely, though somewhat smaller. I also viewed a Superior Room on the ground floor, which was charming but very cozy. My suite was fantastic despite not facing the Falls—I would happily stay in it again. If you’re debating between Hotel das Cataratas and the Gran Meliá on the Argentine side, I’ve stayed at both. The Gran Meliá is very nice in its own right—but it simply cannot compare to the magic and personalized experience of Hotel das Cataratas. For the best of both worlds, consider staying at each for a night or two. This was a truly memorable stay. Every detail was carefully considered, and I left feeling completely pampered and cared for. I can't wait to return.

We stayed at Hotel Cataratas at the end of our 17 days in Brazil. A perfect ending. Our room was charming and comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel neglected to make arrangements for our transport from the airport (which was included in our LL package), but they made up for the error many times over during our stay, including a complementary guide when we visited the Iguassu Falls on the Argentina side. The location of the hotel also provides access to the viewing trails for the falls during hours when the park is closed to other tourist. A real bonus that is not available to those staying in the hotel in the Argentinian park. Next time I stay at Hotel Cataratas I'll coordinate my trip with a full moon!
