Great trip to Lake Tahoe

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe met all my expectations! From the minute we checked in to the time we left! The sports bar was fun with good food and the Italian restaurant was very good as well! We rented bikes at a bike shop attached to the hotel. A huge shout out to Clay at the front desk for helping me with my reservation! If you want somewhere on the Lake that is secluded and tucked away from the crowds of South Lake Tahoe The Hyatt is where you need to be!

Great aspirations, but disappointment in abundance

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Overall, we had a good family stay, but there are a few issues that Hyatt really needs to address, especially given the property's price point during peak summer. The Not-So-Good 1. Elevators This was by far the biggest frustration of our stay. During one of the busiest weeks of the year, the 12-story tower effectively had only one passenger elevator. One elevator had already been out of service for over a week, and the remaining elevator repeatedly glitched, made loud scraping noises against the shaft, and periodically stopped working altogether. Guests were often directed to use the service elevator through the kitchen or take the stairs. Waits of 5–15 minutes just to get up or down became routine. What was most disappointing wasn't just the mechanical issue—it was the response. Most staff seemed to treat it as normal, with little acknowledgment of how disruptive it was beyond an apology and pointing guests toward the complimentary iced tea stand while they waited. A more proactive service recovery would have gone a long way. 2. Guest Rooms The tower rooms are overdue for renovation. None of our rooms had functioning bathroom door locks, which isn't ideal when traveling with family. The carpets showed noticeable wear and staining, and sound insulation was poor—we regularly heard neighboring rooms, hallway traffic, and elevator noise. The Good 1. Staff The staff were consistently friendly and genuinely helpful. Many appeared to be newer team members, but they worked hard and maintained a positive attitude throughout our stay. 2. Sierra Osteria Excellent Globalist breakfast benefit. Guests can choose between the buffet or an à la carte entrée with a beverage, and both options were consistently very good. 3. Beach Access While Hyatt's own beach and lakeside cottages are being renovated, guests receive complimentary daily access to Incline Beach (about a two-minute walk) and Burnt Cedar Beach, which has excellent amenities including a pool. A shuttle is also available if needed. This ended up being a great alternative and helped offset the construction. 4. Recreation & Activities One of the highlights of the resort. Complimentary paddleboards and kayaks (one hour per day) are included—just reserve early since they book quickly. The resort also offers guided hikes, yoga, and other activities, some complimentary and others for a modest fee. The instructors and guides were outstanding and made these experiences memorable. Overall The location, recreation program, breakfast benefit, and beach access make this a fun resort for families. However, the elevator situation during peak season significantly impacted the guest experience, and the aging tower rooms are ready for a refresh. Once those issues are addressed, this property will be much closer to living up to the Hyatt Regency name.

Loved Hyatt Regency Experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had an exceptional stay at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, and it exceeded our expectations in every way! From the moment we arrived, the service was consistently warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. All the employees from the front desk to housekeeping made us feel like valued guests. The property is in an excellent location and we were able to take advantage of the nearby beach, free kayaks, and rented e-bikes right from the hotel lobby to go to Sand Harbor. We appreciated how easy it was to experience Lake Tahoe without ever feeling like we had to leave the resort. There are grocery stores nearby and cute lunch places within walking distance or we ordered food and drinks poolside. It was an excellent family vacation and the hotel is full of comfy places to relax. Only one elevator was working but it was pretty quick and they served free iced tea for the wait. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and we loved our suite with a connecting room. It was huge and roomy. It's clear that hospitality is part of the culture here, and it made a wonderful resort feel truly exceptional. We travel often and stay at many luxury hotels, and the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe has become one of our favorites. We can't wait to come back!
