Reviews for Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa

We Love This Place!

We love Grand Hyatt Indian Wells. Staff is friendly, rooms are nice, and the pools are wonderful to experience - including the lazy river - and especially, for us - the adult pool. We've been going to this hotel for over 30 years and it doesn't disappoint.

Overbooked and underwhelming

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I have stayed at Hyatt properties all over the world and have even partnered with Hyatt to host company events. On paper, this property appears to be an outstanding resort, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing due to what felt like chronic overbooking and poor guest management. The pool area and lazy river were consistently overcrowded, with virtually no available seating and no tubes available for resort guests. The property appears to sell a significant number of day passes, reportedly around $50 per person, while many villa guests also bring in large numbers of outside visitors. As a result, paying resort guests are left competing for amenities they should reasonably be able to enjoy. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa and repeatedly experienced a lack of hot water. Initially, the issue was dismissed, but we later discovered that the adjoining villa reportedly had more than 20 occupants, which likely contributed to the problem. The breakfast buffet was equally overwhelmed, with lines of 30+ guests simply waiting to be seated. Once again, management explained that this was "normal," which only reinforced the impression that the resort is operating beyond its intended capacity. Service issues compounded the frustration. We were unable to get anyone to respond promptly to a broken toilet, requests for bottled water, concerns about the excessively hot spa temperature, or the hot water problem. Rather than resolving issues, explanations and excuses seemed to be the standard response. To make matters worse, my reservation was handled through Hyatt's Executive Office, yet I was placed in the wrong room type upon arrival. Instead of correcting the mistake, management required me to book an additional room at extra cost. This property has tremendous potential, and the grounds themselves are beautiful. However, the guest experience suffers significantly from overcrowding, inadequate service, and what appears to be an emphasis on maximizing occupancy and revenue at the expense of guest satisfaction. As a longtime Hyatt loyalist, this was one of the most disappointing resort experiences I have had.

Very disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Very disappointing, it was almost impossible to reach a real person at this property to begin with. Took the whole family for Mother’s Day weekend. The poolside service was very slow, the kitchen couldn’t keep up with the demand. It took hours to get your food and they didn’t have enough staff. Not enough restaurants on site to cater to the mass numbers of people at the resort and the restaurants they do have are very small. We had a very large party and had Mother’s Day brunch reservations and they sat us outside in the 100 degree heat with babies and toddlers with no fans or misters. Babies were overheating and we rushed through a very expensive brunch just to get out of the heat. I wish when I made the reservation they would have told us our party was too big to seat inside, we would have gone somewhere else for brunch.

Unfortunate classic case of being understaffed

Unfortunate classic case of being understaffed during a busy weekend stay and not paying attention combined with young/inexperienced staff

Good family resort

Really good hotel. Came for a little R&R for Memorial Weekend. rates are higher than most of the rooms in Palm Springs proper, but, this place offers a more expansive experience for families. and there was no shortage of families this weekend. located in Indian Wells, next door to the Indian Wells Golf Course, the Grand Hyatt is a sprawling resort with many amenities. parking rates were typical for a resort that offers both valet and self parking. we booked a King room with a living space that included a double sofa bed for the kiddos. the couch was able to accommodate 3 of our kids because of it's genius design. the pool/water park space is THE most popular part of this resort, understandably. there are multiple pools, including the lazy river and an adults pool. there's also dueling water slides as well as a baby slide and a more tot friendly splash pad. the resort provides some entertainment options geared towards families too. there are a couple restaurants on property, however, we found the options at both Carmocha and Tia Carmen pretty limited. we had lunch prior to arrival at Kestrel, which is not part of the hotel, but, shares the sprawling property, and they had a more varied menu. the market also provided good quick pick-up and to-go items. pool food was typical fried faire. oh, and we did have to change rooms after check-in because our original room still had a trash in the cans and the "cooler" had a foul odor. they were quick to fix and comp us $100 credit. dining at resort and the slight foible at check-in are my only gripes. overall, we'd stay here again.
