Great stay! Spring break

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Visited in April for spring break and the weather was perfect for tons of swimming all day, my kids loved the water park. Food at the pool bar and Palmadoro pizza place at the pool was great. This has always been a super nice hotel, and it's even better since it's been rebranded as a Grand Hyatt. We had a beautiful room in the Villas section past the pool with a beautiful yard. Our room was a two-bedroom villa, perfect for a stay with family or friends - it was two rooms with a really nice sitting room connecting them, and a beautiful backyard with a hot tub outside. The outdoor area of our villa included a grill, so we picked up hamburger supplies from Sprouts and had a really nice cookout one night; the hotel also has grill kits you can order if you don't want to leave the resorts. We have Hyatt Globalist status and the Globalist benefits here were really good, great breakfast and all of the benefits were covered really nicely. Service throughout was great, valets were super helpful, Kenneth at check-in was super nice, lifeguards were friendly and nice to my kids. Just great service and a fabulous hotel, we can't wait to go back.

Do not recommend this hotel for a relaxing vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing vacation. The pool situation was nothing but chaotic and a horrific experience. If you do go, get ready to wake up to get in line by 6:45am to get a chair. If you get a chair, hopefully, you can actually order food by the server and not get completely ignored all day.

Lazy river was great, but skip and find alternate resorts in area (lots of great ones!). Terrible food and service.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This resort is unacceptable for a Hyatt property. On the positive side, the design of the pool itself was great for the area, and one of the few properties with a lazy river. The water temperature was refreshing. Noise level was fine for a family, and location is convenient in the Palm Desert area with plenty of shopping and dining options around. The overall atmosphere was good, plenty of families and pets and a good group of patrons. Beyond that, not much to like. For context, we stayed here on weekdays. The service here was terrible and unacceptable for this type of resort. The restaurants were significantly understaffed, with extremely slow service for both bar and restaurants. Housekeeping and bell desk repeatedly refused our requests for cleaning (we say other customers complaining about the same). The quality of the food here is bad, whether kids food or adult food. The marketplace is overpriced, and the quality is closer to what you find for takeaway food in a gas station. The quality of the ingredients of the food from the restaurants were high, the execution was poor and uneven. The pool area has no seating if you go late morning. We had to grab towels and spread out on the turf near one of the pools. Even the tables for food service were full of people just trying to find space. Only about 35% of the chairs with towels or personal items seemed occupied at any given time. The resort staff and rules did not have them enforce any turnover of space not being used. What resort staff was there tried to be helpful, but not much they could do. This was on a Monday and Tuesday, so not peak days. The rooms were adequately clean. A couple of family members seemed to get bitten by unknown, non mosquito bugs in the room. Strange, because we did not open windows and the rooms are off of long, enclosed corridors. This was, without a doubt, the worst execution by a Hyatt we've stayed at (we've stayed at both regular Hyatt's and Grand Hyatt's globally across both business and vacation destinations). Surrounding area has so may good options for resorts, so would heavily recommend going elsewhere.

Unfriendly and not clean

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Terrible service, cleanup didn't exist, rude reception at the pool area, specially Kasandra and Frida. 2 hours wait for breakfast and when we got there there was no breakfast it was already passed 12.

Overcrowded, Unclean, and Not Worth the Price

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My recent stay was extremely disappointing. The rooms were not properly cleaned—floors were dirty, and overall hygiene was far below acceptable standards. The property felt overcrowded, with far more people than it should comfortably accommodate, which made the experience even worse. The pool areas were in terrible condition and not enjoyable at all—poorly maintained and extremely crowded. There were literally people running just to secure a spot at the pool, which says everything about how poorly capacity is managed. And good luck getting breakfast—there was a mile-long line every morning, making it nearly impossible to enjoy what should be a basic part of the stay. I would strongly reconsider using the cafeteria. The sandwiches did not seem fresh, and shortly after our stay, my son became ill with a stomach virus and was sick for two days. Considering the prices we paid, the level of service and overall experience were far below expectations. This was not just disappointing—it was unacceptable. Overall, I would not recommend staying here.
