The Tides Inn is a Chesapeake Bay resort set in the heart of Virginia's Northern Neck. You’ll feel the rich heritage at the Tides Inn the moment you arrive. There’s history in the water which laps gently against the Inn’s Duffy boats in the marina. There’s an undeniable coziness in the charm of the people around you. A quaint nostalgia in sipping a cold lemonade as you watch the afternoon sun dip into the sea. It’s palpable, and it’s a legacy that’s as beloved to us as it has been to you for decades.

The Tides Inn was lovely! I struggle whether to give 4 or 5 stars but had to take one off because of some lack of service (see below). We went during the heat wave this past week. That meant we really didn’t take advantage of everything as it was just too hot (we didnt take the bikes out and only briefly went out on the water in a kayak). Most of our time was spent by the pool. We couldn’t wade in the river as there were an abundance of small jelly fish. Still, it was a relaxing few days. Note, if you want to do the big activities like taking a chartered boat out you need to book in advance. Service was a mixed bag unfortunately. We loved that housekeeping took note of our needs. We left our glasses in our room and returned to both pairs neatly laid on a Tides Inn branded glasses cloth with a lens wipe. My iPhone cord was neatly wrapped in a Tides Inn branded Velcro tie. They left banana chips, chocolate cherries, and gummy bears for snacking and beverages in the fridge. All five star. At the pool though it often felt like we were ignored while others got more attentive service for drinks and food. Not sure why. When we did get the servers attention it was fine but it felt like they needed a little more attention there. Food was good. Note if you book the bed and breakfast package it’s just a daily credit. Which was fine… Overall a really nice trip.

What a hidden gem! Peaceful surroundings, excellent food, lots of outdoor activities and superior staff made this a great experience. Beautiful property with modern amenities that made relaxing seem effortless. Thank you. We can't wait to return.

A beautiful waterfront property with so much potential, but maintenance issues and some staff interactions made our wedding anniversary getaway feel a bit bittersweet and underwhelming. When we opened our room door, the air filter came loose and fell onto us. Oily debris also came from the A/C vents every day and got on the bed comforter. The security door luck bar also fell one day so we brought it to the front desk to see if they could fix it. We brought these issues to the front desk daily and since check in but they just didnt manage to get it fixed. The property itself is beautiful, but the maintenance issues need attention, and some staff members would benefit from additional courtesy training.

Beautiful spot, nicely appointed rooms, wonderful staff, excellent restaurant, nice pool facilities. What’s not to like? Well, the golf course. It’s not what you’d expect to find at a fairly pricey resort. Everything else is great. It’s a short walk into Irvington, with cute shops and restaurants. We have stayed here many times and will return!
