The Tides Inn

Went to the Salt & Meadow Restaurant at the Tides Inn for our 47th wedding anniversary dinner. Once we were seated, we could hardly hear each other over the very loud and old 30’s and 40’s music. We asked if it could be turned down or we would have to eat outside. The waitress said she would and then later said she didn’t know how. We ordered a bottle of white wine and it was at least 20 minutes before it came to the table. She poured it for a tasting and it was room temperature(or more). She put it in a wine cooler and we ended serving ourselves over the course of the meal. The place was not crowded at all. The meal itself was very good. We decided to get dessert, but it took forever for the waitress to come back. We finally just got bill and left. The tables around me we also complaining. I have been going to Tides Inn for 50 years and have eaten there more times than I can count. I have also stayed there numerous times. What I experienced was not what I have come to expect from this resort.

We had a truly great stay at the Tides Inn. Everything was thought of and taken care of excellent food at Salt & Meadow. Great location. Great boat trip with Captain Bull, who os a great raconteur. All around great stay. Will be coming back.

We stayed at the marina. Staff were excellent. They are doing preperation for some marina improvements that are needed but it is an wonderful experience. We loved walking the grounds, taking out complementary paddle boards and hanging out at the pool. Shuttle into town was perfect.

TIdewater is a beautiful inn. Grounds and staff are WONDERFUL. We stayed 2 nights and would have enjoyed a third. Beds were comfortable. Bath linens were plentiful and luxurious. Lots of areas to sit and relax. Staff went out of their way to welcome and accommodate us. Our room with a balcony was a little overpriced. I would absolutely come back.

Hard to beat the location, the views, the amenities, the food and activities. The food is especially outstanding...every meal every time. Imaginative, smart, amazingly tasty and presented nicely. Updates that seem to be continuing year to year are very nice. Service is always with a smile.
