Disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We came here on our honeymoon and I admit, given the special occasion and the price of the hotel, my expectations were high. However they were sadly not met at all. It started with the room. We booked a sea view deluxe, but there was a very obstructed sea view. Basically it was mostly roof (see photo). Ok, but at least there was a terrace which was a consolation. That was the best we got. Every day we had to fight other guests for seats at the water (beach chairs were weirdly super limited despite the fact that Mezzatore has the whole bay). We couldn’t get a seat for a simple cocktail because it was too full (there is plenty of space but no tables). We wanted to use the thermal baths but had to reserve a chance to use the free baths because it was too busy. Hilariously, we had priority late check out but couldn’t get it (no surprise) and they offered to make us a reservation for the showers (the showers required a reservation.. LOL). It’s confusing for me how this is a 5 star hotel but I literally had to stress myself out to just get a chance to enjoy the amenities. Lastly, the communication with the staff was abysmal. If you asked them to call you a taxi in advance there was a 50/50 chance it would arrive. We never successfully managed to get extra towels at the beach ever (maybe they ran out, I wouldn’t be surprised). We would call and ask what time things closed and would just get blatantly wrong answers. It was a bit of a disaster. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hotel in high season. Maybe in calmer months it’s better. But right now, it’s over crowded and understaffed. I sense it got over hyped and they just couldn’t keep up with demand. It would be better if they had less rooms for more and actually were attentive to their guests.

Out of This World – The Most Incredible Honeymoon Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed at Mezzatorre for our honeymoon, and it was truly out of this world — hands down the best service we have ever experienced in a hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything felt effortlessly luxurious yet deeply personal. The staff were exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay unforgettable. Every detail was flawless. We chose to dine in the hotel every night because the food was just that good — the pasta, in particular, was absolutely delicious. Each meal felt like a special occasion, and the pre-dinner aperitif with complimentary snacks was pure heaven. Breakfasts were another highlight — relaxed, beautifully presented, and served with the most breathtaking views overlooking the sea. The setting couldn’t have been more romantic or serene. The combination of exquisite service, incredible food, and the stunning surroundings made our stay unforgettable. Mezzatorre is something truly special, and we’re already dreaming of coming back.

Bliss

The Mezzatorre is one of my two favorite hotels (see my reviews of Adler Mountain Lodge). I find its superb hospitality and casual elegance unmatched. I won’t repeat my detailed praise from my review of our June 2024 visit, but I will single out a few individuals.Salvatore is the charming food and beverage manager and runs a tight ship; the service in the dining room is superb. He makes a point of greeting every guest at breakfast and at dinner, inquiring with genuine interest about one’s day and providing excellent guidance on the wine list. An example of Salvatore’s genius for hospitality: one evening we were discussing gelati and he asked which was my wife’s favorite flavor; the next morning we were surprised when he presented us with a Sicilian breakfast of brioches sandwiching nocciola gelato. Nello is quieter than Salvatore, but similarly thoughtful. He was our waiter at both breakfast and dinner - anticipating our every need and request. We looked forward to our cocktail every evening in large part because of the elegance of Massimo’s service. His gentle humor and friendly greetings make the excellent Negronis taste even better. I could have praised so many other people from the Mezzatorre - at reception, the lifeguards and waiters at the swimming deck, the porters who take one to Lacco Ameno, or the housekeeping staf. It is remarkable that everyone we encountered during our stay was pleasant and helpful. The bountiful pleasures of the Mezzatorre certainly come at a high price, but the value proposition seems fair. My one gentle quibble is that the increase in prices seems to be outstripping inflation…The same room which was €800 in June 2024 and 2025 in will be over €1000 in June 2026. 25% seems like a very steep hike. Hopefully the Pellicano group will maintain the Mezzatorre’s high standards without pricing it out of the reach of us mere mortals…

A Near Perfect Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Recently spent a few days at Mezzatorre and loved our stay. The setting is stunning, the service impeccable, what a special experience! The food was exceptional across the board— a highlight was the lobster pasta at the poolside restaurant. Breakfast each morning and the aperitivo hour were also highlights. The staff here are truly excellent. Our room was beautiful, with a spacious terrace overlooking the sea. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly (not always the case in Europe). The only thing we would’ve changed was the bathroom layout—two vanities would have made it even better. The only real drawback during our stay was a family with very young children who were loud and disruptive throughout the property. While we understand this isn’t the hotel’s fault, the situation became a common topic of conversation among guests. It may be worth the hotel considering a minimum age policy to preserve the atmosphere Mezzatorre is designed to offer. Lastly - the property is built into the cliffs, so guests who have difficulty with stairs may find it challenging to navigate. That said, we would highly recommend Mezzatorre and would gladly return!

5 years ago I stayed at the Mezzatorre Resort & Spa. I booked it again for my recent trip. If I return to a property I have vacationed, it is truly 5 star. First of all, I will start with the property itself. It's rustic beauty and location are unsurpassed. The views are breathtaking. The spa has 5 star amenities. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is excellent. Service in the restaurants is very attentive. Check-in is a breeze. Housekeeping caters to your needs immediately. This hotel lives up to its 5 star rating. We will return again next year.
