Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres

My husband and I just had a wonderful 10-day trip to Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres. We had a Preferred Club ocean-front room with a gorgeous view. Our butlers, Eddy and Miguel, were extremely friendly and helpful. The resort has four pools (three if you are not a Preferred Club member) so you can pick what type of vibe you are looking for. The cocktails service at both the beach and pool was excellent and the cocktails were very good. The diverse restaurant choices (Asian, Mexican, French, seafood, Italian, Mexican, a grille, and a buffet) were great and the food VERY yummy. We loved that the portion sizes were smaller (although you could order as much as you wanted) so you didn't walk away overly full or waste food. The beach was beautiful and the resort is a great size and not too huge. We enjoyed the one-off events the resort offered (such a a burger bar at the pool, a Mayan night at the grille, and a Mexican night on the beach) although we didn't always know when these were happening unless we asked (my one small critique) even though the resort has a very useful app with daily activities and restaurant and spa information in it. The service at Secrets Playa Blanca was really excellent. The staff members were always friendly and welcoming and quickly learned our names. I would like to specifically mention staff from the Seaside Grille (Elisa, Sixto, Aldo, Christian, Marco, Odette, and Willy) who made is feel so welcomed. There are two small sundry-type shops and a high end jewelry store at the resort so if you love to shop, you would need to take an excursion out of the resort. I ended up doing my souvenir shopping at the airport (which has some great options.) My two tips for travel to this resort would be for men to makes sure to bring a couple of pairs of long pants since most of the restaurants require them for dinner (and this is enforced) as well as remember to bring 5's and 10's for tipping the servers at the pools and restaurants. I definitely recommend this resort! We had a fabulous stay!

Playa Blanca was amazing! We had a great time relaxing and being pampered by the entire resort! Especially Eddy and Miguel! They were especially sweet! Look forward to coming back next year

For context, my husband and I have been incredibly blessed to have enjoyed extensive worldwide travel and have stayed in many (often all inclusive) luxury 5* hotels in Europe (Ikos resorts and many top 5* hotels in Turkey) and the Caribbean. We have previously stayed at Secrets Akumal, Secrets Cap Cana, TRS Coral and several Excellence resorts (Playa Mujeres, Riviera Cancun, el Carmen and Punta Cana), Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, others in the DR and smaller Caribbean islands. Our 7 night stay in a Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View in mid December was booked through British Airways Holidays. When planning a holiday, we typically opt for contemporary, upscale hotels in a picturesque region with a choice of a la carte dining options and Secrets Playa Blanca more than met our preferences on these counts. Highlights: • We loved the contemporary architecture, stylish furnishings, attractive landscaping and the spacious, uncrowded feel of the resort • The beautiful view from our room in block 3 made us smile every day • The wide choice of a la carte dining options for lunch and dinner was a stand-out feature of our stay • Rendezvous bar was a sociable and lively venue for evening drinks. In contrast the Preferred bar offered a calmer scene • The gym was very well equipped Other observations: • Although we enjoyed all our a la carte evening dining experiences the food was not always served hot (particularly at Bordeaux) • As other guests have mentioned I would prefer that the glass door to the toilet and the shower screen and door were completely opaque or that the sliding bathroom panels offered complete privacy • Service around the preferred pool was inconsistent, and sometimes unacceptably infrequent, especially in the mornings • Unoccupied sun loungers with abandoned towels (at the preferred pool) were not monitored and cleared by staff and so remained unused for much of the day. Of course, this would not be an issue if guests had the courtesy to remove their used towels and place them in the towel bins as they leave the pool area • Sorry to say but we found the butler service here quite intrusive. I prefer to be left to make contact via message if required rather than being asked for our whereabouts every day for a daily face to face conversation. I also feel uncomfortable being asked (more than once) by the butlers to mention them by name in a Tripadvisor review. That said, we did appreciate the daily messaging updates regarding the entertainment schedule and restaurant availability • During our stay there were, inevitably, several commercial events. When the corporate groups descended on Rendezvous bar the relaxed vibe of the bar quickly became intrusively wild and raucous. Unfortunately, with demand for service suddenly high, bar staff were sometimes overwhelmed which adversely impacted the service levels for other guests. These minor issues, and personal preferences, aside we had the best time celebrating our anniversary at Secrets Playa Blanca. Prior to this trip, Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana was our favourite hotel in the Caribbean, however Secrets Playa Blanca may have sneaked into equal first place! I truly hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Everything about my stay was amazing!!! 10/10 the most relaxing weekend trip I’ve ever taken. All the staff was attentive and friendly, our butler team Benji and Luis were always eager to help in anyway possible and they truly made our stay that much more relaxing! I’m looking forward to returning next year

It was a near perfect experience. My only complaint was that the water didn't run as hot as I needed in the tub. The food was top tier. The room was by far the best I've ever been in. The service provided by the wait staff at restaurants, room service, concierge and butlers was terrific. This is the nicest resort with the best staff. They are nice and respectful. The activities were numerous. We had so much fun.
