Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres

Very nice clean place. My room was always cleaned. Food was excellent at the many restaurants. Service at the beach needs some work. My concierge person Cinthia was amazing. Whenever I had a question she was there for me. I would definitely recommend this Secrets to my family and friends.

We had an amazing stay at Secrets Playa Blanca and can't wait to come back! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how beautiful and well-maintained the grounds were. The entire resort is stunning. The food exceeded our expectations, and El Patio was by far our favorite restaurant. Every meal we had at the resort was delicious....minus the one time we ordered room service. Would have rather gone to a restaurant. We spent most of our time at the social pool and the infinity pool, both of which were fantastic. The social pool had fun activities throughout the day, and we had a blast playing pool volleyball every afternoon. The aqua fitness classes were also a lot of fun! The pool service was outstanding and the servers were incredible! Very attentive, friendly, and always made sure we had everything we needed while keeping the atmosphere fun and welcoming. The beach was absolutely beautiful. The water was warm and although there was some seaweed during our stay, it was still very swimmable and didn't take away from how gorgeous the beach was. The staff did a good job of cleaning up the seaweed that collected on the beach. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and always spotless. It was such a treat coming back to a freshly cleaned room after a day at the pool, and the evening turndown service was a thoughtful touch that made the experience feel even more luxurious. Overall, we had the best time. We've stayed at several Secrets resorts, and Secrets Playa Blanca is easily in our top two. If you're looking for a beautiful resort with great food, excellent service, fun activities, and an amazing beach, we highly recommend it!

We were grateful that the resort is pet friendly and has welcomed our dog very nicely . There were lots of places for our dog to walk on and staff are all pet friendly. We would like to thank the staff in Barefoot grill for providing grilled chicken and beef patties for our dog without salt. They were very accommodating. We also would like to mention El Patio restaurant staff Guadalupe and Antonio for a very special meal prepared for my birthday celebration. They went above and beyond. The entertainment though is not as lively as what we have experienced in other resorts. It is more on the quiet side. The timings of their shows also is right in the middle of dinner time. So if you want to see a show, either you have to eat very early or very late. The resort is big enough that there are plenty areas to roam around, well maintained. However, there are not enough indoor bars or spaces to hang out if it becomes too hot. The rooms are clean and cleaning staff clean it immaculately everyday.

This was our first time at Playa Blanca, however it was not our first time at a Secrets resort.  Beautiful resort, but some changes are needed as I don’t feel this was a full Secrets experience.. The overall grounds of the resort are stunning, the landscape is well taken care of & tropical. The resort was a bit more separated than we expected ( 2 levels). Entertainment is nice but be mindful just about everything is outside in the heat. Rooms are lovely minus a few issues we had & room service is always a plus. Rendezvous had lovely drinks accompanied by snacks and entertainment nightly. Pools are great & the pool staff work so hard. Upon checking in, we were greeted with a cool towel & drink. Our room was not yet ready which we expected but the check-in process took over an hour.. We had made a room location request prior to arrival due to a health issue. After we had spoken to one employee he directed us over to another desk to “finish” our check-in process, or so we had thought. This ended up being turned into a timeshare spiel that became time consuming & deceptive as we typically say no thanks and walk away they had twisted it like it was needed for check-in.. This was extremely frustrating as we pay for our time here.. After we were finished, we had to verify if we would be contacted when our room was ready or what the next steps would be. They said they would call/ text us. We were then left to figure out where things were at the resort. We had no direction or guidance (We were the only guests left checking in at this time). Typically a Secrets rep will walk you through the resort & guide you to a restaurant to enjoy lunch while you wait. A couple that had arrived to the resort the same time we did, were finished their meal & leaving the restaurant when we had just gotten to the restaurant. This is how long the staff had held us in the lobby.. We were gone for hours. No call or text. We went back up to the lobby to get our room status, of which they said our room was ready. Zero communication received. The room assigned was where we had hoped & requested we wouldn’t be. We are aware that room requests cannot be promised but we tried to communicate with them of what we were looking for due to health issues. The several reps responded back in Spanish & like they didn’t understand. This was after making us aware that rooms were indeed available (in our room category) in the buildings that were preferred/ requested. We ended up just giving up & taking the room they assigned. This whole experience was overall not a great start to the trip, but also unfortunate that we had to deal with this throughout our stay. It was also unfortunate that we were assigned to the side of the resort neighboring another property where construction had been going on. Typically for better guest experience you would assign away for construction noise when rooms are available or so I’d thought. We had to call for a new comforter once we got to the room as there were some odd stains. Not a big deal. The fan unfortunately didn’t work for the entirety of our trip, even after maintenance it made a horrible noise & didnt spin correctly. This seems to be an issue throughout the resort after talking with other guests. Rooms sadly do not have the ipads. You must download the app in order to see daily activities, restaurant hours & menus, room service etc.  We did have a concierge who showed us to our room however he was inattentive throughout our stay. He told us we needed to download WhatsApp to communicate with him. We said we weren’t interested in downloading another app but we’d be fine with texting as this is what we typically do with concierge at any other Secrets resort. He said he couldn’t do that. He didn’t communicate anything to us, check-in, or communicate when he’d be unavailable (off work) He ended up texting us once (I thought he couldn’t) and that was to let us know he was upset with us because we had contacted maintenance & the front desk ourselves regarding issues that needed resolved because we simply just wanted to resolve the problems & be on our way. The restaurants are nice. The typical Secrets options. Market Cafe had a nice breakfast selection, mimosa & Bloody Mary bar was a plus. Himitsu & dinner at seaside grill had good food. We were however disappointed in the service at Seaside during lunch hours as we were turned away because we had come from the pool and weren’t 100% dry. This seemed a bit unreasonable to me as it is one of the only lunch options by the pool & it is outdoors. It was scorching hot, if we weren’t damp from pool water we would be from sweat. We were told “we couldn’t get their chair cushions wet”. This was pretty disappointing. We were also disappointed to not be able to do hibachi during our stay. We tried time & time again to book a reservation ahead of schedule & it wouldn't allow us. In conclusion, our stay was ok, but not the Secrets experience. Reach out if needed. We had an incredible four-night stay at Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful resort, the peaceful atmosphere, and the exceptional level of service. The food exceeded our expectations throughout our stay. Every restaurant we visited was excellent, but Oceana quickly became our favorite—we dined there three times! A very special thank you to Carlos, whose service was truly outstanding. He was professional, attentive, hardworking, and genuinely welcoming. His hospitality made every meal even more enjoyable, and he was one of the highlights of our vacation. We also loved Coco Café. The young gentleman working the evening shift was always so polite, friendly, and hardworking. Although we didn't catch his name, he deserves recognition for making every visit pleasant. The spa was another unforgettable experience. It was honestly one of the best spas we have ever visited. The facilities were beautiful, the atmosphere was relaxing, and every member of the spa team was professional and attentive. The resort itself is stunning, with immaculate grounds, beautiful pools, a gorgeous beach, and spacious, comfortable rooms. Everywhere we went, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and excellent service. Thank you to everyone at Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres for making our vacation so memorable. We truly enjoyed every moment and would not hesitate to return. We highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, luxurious, and unforgettable getaway.
