Park Hyatt Istanbul - Macka Palas

During a recent two-night stay at Park Hyatt Istanbul, we returned to our room on the second day to find a shocking situation: housekeeping was inside despite our DND sign, and all our personal belongings — suitcases, phones and everything else — had disappeared. At the Front Office, we were informed that, due to an overbooking situation, the hotel director had authorised staff to enter our occupied room, pack our luggage and remove our personal belongings without our knowledge or consent, in order to relocate us to another Hyatt hotel. From a luxury hospitality perspective, this is extremely difficult to accept. Overbooking happens, but an in-house guest’s privacy, security and dignity should never be compromised. Relocating a checked-in guest by entering their room and handling their most personal belongings — underwear, toothbrushes, personal items, etc. — while they are away is an extraordinary breach of trust. To make matters worse, the Front Office Manager repeatedly told us that we should “understand, because we are colleagues.” We are not colleagues. I am a department manager at a different luxury hotel brand, and my partner — who won the hotel voucher — is not a Hyatt employee either. Professional courtesy should never be used as an expectation that a guest will simply accept inappropriate treatment. The hotel did pay for our taxi to the new property, which we appreciated. However, the transfer took approximately an hour, no water was offered, and we had to cancel our dinner plans as a direct consequence of the relocation. The Front Office Manager did apologise, but the tone felt more authoritative than empathetic — more like an explanation we were expected to accept than genuine service recovery. Luxury hospitality is built on trust, discretion and respect. This experience fell seriously short of all three. For a property carrying the Park Hyatt name, we expected considerably more.

Fantastic hotel with friendly service. Convenient location to get around Istanbul. Less hectic neighborhood. Got the spa suite and being able to enjoy a steam bath in room was a highlight Breakfast had a terrific selection as well and the handmade local crepe dish was uniquely delicious

I stayed at this hotel 6-7 times and enjoyed every moment. Perfect location,you feel safe at any time of the day and everything is close by- shops, restaurants, cafes. The hotel itsself is very clean everywhere, the houskeeping is doing an excellent job. From the first minute the welcome at the reception is very pkeasant. The restaurants on the territory of hotel are very delicious. My favorite cosy cafe bar Cappucino and the staff here are very friendly. Cipriany restaurant is amasing and service is absolutely outstanding. Special thanks to Zeynep from Kalimera restaurant and Mustafa from reception. Both are very customer oriented, attentive and geniunenly caring. Value 5/5, service 5/5, location 5/5, cleanliness 5/5. Thanks to everyone who made my stay perfect again. Arzu Aliyeva

Great luxury hotel highly recommend to stay, the only improvement they could make is moving the location right on the Bosphorus.

Wonderful stay; lovely hotel, and a friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. We hope to stay again in the future, and would certainly recommend the hotel to those visiting Istanbul.
