Like the city itself, The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul strikes a compelling balance between Middle Eastern tradition and beauty and European culture and style. This perfect pairing is weaved throughout the hotel experience and complemented by views of the Bosphorus from nearly every space, including luxury accommodations, restaurants and lounges, the seasonal outdoor spa and meeting and wedding venues.

We enjoyed an unforgettable stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Istanbul: The hotel is an oasis of well-being in the middle of a vibrant city, with an exceptional customer service and an extremely welcoming staff. We express a very special thank you to Nevrat Sengül (House Keeping Manager) with Banu and her colleagues of the excellent house keeping team, to Riham Alkhader (Guest Experience Supervisor), as well as to Furkan and his whole team, among others Furkan, Nisa and Melek at the wonderful Atolye Restaurant, who spoiled us with delicious food and delightful culinary tips!

This hotel is a mixed bag. The greetings in the lobby was pleasant, yet took a bit longer than necessary. The room was clean and lovely and comfortable, even luxurious. The location of the hotel is near a crowded freeway and other crowded streets. The smell of exhaust molests your senses when you leave the hotel. We booked a private day long tour of Istanbul through the hotel and this was the worst part… Our tour guide (Shakir) was late- he messed up the date. He did buy us lunch as a way to make it up to us. He had a very strange method of presenting history and facts, almost like he was doing a dramatic reading performance. He then proceeded to try to entice us to buy things all day. He wanted to introduce us to fake Hermes manufacturers - he offered no less than 3 times and told stories about women who spent a few thousand dollars on fake Birkin bags. Who cares. I kept having to repeat that I didn’t want that. He took us to meet a rug maker who made a pretty shameless pitch for us to buy. He took us to his guy in the spice market. He skipped several of the attractions we had asked to see. It felt shmaltzy and transactional. He was looking to get a commission we supposed. He was unfortunately completely opposite of our previous tour guide in Istanbul, who was very thoughtful and helped us avoid scams. The hotel offered a verbal apology, but we were still charged full price plus tip. The doorman here were very kind and much more helpful than the Concierge. Should you need help, they are your best bet.
