I have been going to Red Mountain with female friends yearly for years. When we learned that Red Mountain closed we were so sad and decided to try Black Desert because Black Desert took over the hikes that we liked so much at Red Mountain. We were very disappointed with Black Desert because it does not have the tranquil atmosphere and views that Red Mountain had. At Red Mountain every room had a view of the mountains. At Black Desert we had a view of the parking lot and construction. When you walked around Red Mountain it was so serene. At Black Desert you see groups of golfers talking loudly, kids screaming at the pool, and construction everywhere. The Red Mountain hikes are available but there are no levels, so it depends on your group that day whether you go on an easy or more challenging hike. There are no exercise classes like at Red Mountain. There are a couple of meditation classes at the spa. We tried one. It was a 30 minute class and the instructor read to us from her book, it was obvious that she was new at this. We laid down outside of the spa by the pool and heard kids yelling at the pool, it was not relaxing at all. There is also a sales team by the front desk selling properties at the resort. They did not approach us but it made it feel like we are at a timeshare sales location. We ate at the sports bar and Latitudes a couple of nights. We wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and sit outside at Latitudes but there is no shade outside, that’s a real miss. The food was not exciting at all, and after two nights of trying several dishes we decided not to go back there. The resort could use better signage. Also, there is no traffic light to enter and exit the resort so it is hard to turn if you are coming from St. George. If you want to walk to the coffee shop by the gas station you are risking your life trying to cross the street. At Red Mountain there was no need for a car. You could get all meals included and walk to the center with the e-bike store. Walking outside of the resort is not a safe option from Black Desert. This is a resort for golfers and not for people who are looking for a peaceful environment. I would not go back there, and everyone in my group said the same.

Black Desert & Janessa for the Saturday night win!! We had the nachos and fish and chips while playing on the golf simulator. Janessa took great care of us and reassured us there were people that were worse than us at golf 😂. Make sure to ask her to show you her swing, it will make you want to go home and cry.

trying to make a reservation but had questions, all they could do was ask me questions, and have two call centers look at the same website i am looking at...they have kitchettes and kitchens. what is the difference, i terms of amenties, their faq says no outside food, do they have a big grocery store...in one place it says the same room has a kitchette, and in another place it says a full kitchen..- no one is there after 8 pm apparently..sticking with marriott, especally at 700 bucks a night., based on what i read here its not even clear if there is really a pool or hot tub. or if the web-site is future plans

We had to stay in the St. George area for work. So we needed in-room dining via room service (too tired to go sit in a restaurant after long hours of work) and in-room washer and dryer. We called the resort prior to making reservations and were told that they offered in-room dining via 24/7 room service but no washer and dryer. We also asked if staying in the terrace residences would require a drive or was it connected to the hotel, we were told the latter. Upon checking in, we were told the resort did not offer in-room dining via room service and we had to get back in our vehicle to drive a couple blocks to the terrace residences. Once we got into the room, we saw a washer and dryer. So nothing the resort told us before making reservations were correct. Door Dash was a catastrophe, the dasher spoke zero English and could not locate our room, we had to stand in the parking lot waving our arms around until he saw us. The in room digital concierge was an iPad that was useless. All this and they boast a 4-Diamond rating? We have stayed at 5 and 4 diamond resorts, this resort should’ve been rated 3-diamond at best.

Black Desert Resort delivers an outstanding stay from start to finish, with service and amenities that make a real impression. The front desk team, especially **Connor** and **Josh**, set the tone immediately with their professionalism, friendliness, and smooth handling of every detail. **Tyler**, the bellman, also deserves special recognition for being attentive, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, making arrival feel effortless. The food at the resort was another highlight. The dining options were delicious, well-prepared, and varied enough to keep every meal interesting. Combined with the resort’s **great price point**, the overall value is exceptional and makes the experience even more satisfying. For golf travelers, Black Desert Resort is especially impressive. The golf staff ran a **well-organized golf course” with strong attention to detail and a seamless flow throughout the event. **Kevin** and **Drew**, the caddies, were also excellent—knowledgeable, professional, and a great asset on the course. Their support added to an already memorable golf experience. This resort is a **must-visit for any golf enthusiast**. With excellent service, great food, strong value, and top-tier golf operations, it stands out as a destination worth returning to. I’m already looking forward to coming back again.
