Reviews for Rustic Inn Creekside Resort & Spa

Lovely place, staff not very friendly

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

First of all, the property itself is lovely and our cabin was perfect. It was spacious, had a very comfortable bed, and featured a charming porch with chairs right along the creek. The swings placed throughout the property were such a nice touch and made for relaxing moments. I also didn’t find the room dark or dreary, as some reviews mentioned. The cabin felt well lit and inviting. The included breakfast was another highlight, offering both hot and cold options. The free shuttle was especially convenient and since it was the off-season, it was readily available to take us into town and pick us up whenever needed (though it’s only about a 10-minute walk to the town square). The housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating, and Oliver, who drove the shuttle, was consistently kind and cheerful. The gentleman who helped with our luggage and assisted when we accidentally locked ourselves out was also very helpful. That said, the front desk experience was disappointing. Aside from Morgan, who was incredibly warm and helpful, the rest of the front desk staff lacked the friendliness and welcoming presence you’d expect in hospitality. They weren’t overtly rude, but interactions felt curt and impersonal, which was surprising given they are the first point of contact for guests. It may have been due to visiting at the very end of the season, but there was a noticeable lack of engagement. For example, upgrades were mentioned online but not discussed at check-in, and communication overall felt quite limited. Additionally, the on-site bistro closes at the end of March—while there are plenty of nearby dining options, it would have been helpful to know this in advance. It also seemed that, being there in the shoulder season, much of Jackson Hole was in a bit of a transition period. Several restaurants in addition the Rustic Inn felt less welcoming than we’ve experienced in other small towns, where there’s usually a more consistently warm and engaging atmosphere. I completely understand that this may be a quieter time of year, but as visitors, we still hope to feel that our presence and patronage are valued. Given that this is not an inexpensive destination, a more consistent level of hospitality across the area would have made the experience feel more in line with the cost. Lastly, our checkout experience felt very inflexible. With a 3:20 pm flight and a hotel that was 15% booked, we asked about a later checkout than the given 11:00 time but were only offered 11:30 am. While I understand policies vary, a bit more flexibility would have gone a long way, especially since there were so few guests staying. It just felt like another moment of the front desk trying to brush off guests and send them on their way. It was a disappointment. Overall, we truly enjoyed the property and many aspects of our stay, but the front desk service and their level of hospitality fell short of what we would expect from an otherwise lovely place.

Charged for 2 rooms and only received 1

Very Disappointing Stay — Charged for a Room I Never Received I truly wanted to give Rustic Inn Creekside Resort another chance after a disappointing stay a couple of years ago. The property itself is lovely, and I hoped things had improved. Unfortunately, this visit was even worse. The hotel accidentally booked me into two rooms, but didn’t inform me until the second night. When they finally mentioned it, I told them I would take the keys to the extra room since I was being charged for it. Instead of correcting their mistake, they refused to give me the keys. A staff member quietly told me the room wasn’t usable because it needed maintenance, yet the hotel still charged me. When I tried to resolve it, management was dismissive and unhelpful. I contacted American Express the next morning, but they couldn’t recover the charge either. After two negative stays, I can confidently say I won’t be returning to Rustic Inn. There are much better options in Jackson Hole. I highly recommend Hotel Jackson—excellent service, honest staff, and a far better overall experience.

Not overly impressed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Our room was very dark. The bathroom was very nice. It was big and had a nice shower. The breakfast was very good. You have to walk to another building to get to the restaurant. It got very crowded and seating was limited. It’s on the northern edge of Jackson, so you have to take a car to get to the downtown area.

A Return Visit

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This was our second visit to Rustic Inn at Jackson Hole, with so many places to visit and enjoy in the U.S, return visits is something we try no to do, however with Jackson Hole we made an exception as it wasn't too much of a diversion on our road trip and what better place to stay again, of course, Rustic Inn. We upgraded a little this time from a basic cabin to a superior creek side double queen guest room with fireplace - to give it's full title! The upstairs wooden style cabin had a patio/porch area with table and chairs overlooking the car park, the room was spacious and had a smart bathroom, a kitchenette, fridge, microwave etc. It was comfortable, but a little dark. For our complimentary breakfast we had to walk back to the main building, unfortunately it was very wet having snowed then thawed with huge puddles to avoid. The breakfast room is through reception, past the bar area and upstairs. It is quite a small room for the number of guests and therefore very busy, so we preferred to take our food and drinks away from the crowd down the stairs to eat more comfortably in the cosy bar lounge seated area with fire. The location is excellent within walking distance of the town and therefore not having to drive and find parking. The reception staff are reactively friendly and informative. Overall we were pleased we had made a return visit but like most returns our memories were more perfect than the reality.

What a gem!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

What a hidden gem this hotel is! I love the "tiny home" concept where every room is its own cabin. I slept so well here, the bathroom was big and comfortable, the breakfast was more than adequate, convenient parking, and the grounds are just beautiful. I have been to Jackson many times and always stay somewhere different, but I can assert that Rustic Inn is my favorite spot I've stayed in town.
