Spring Creek Ranch

Did a one hour horseback ride with Cora from Spring Creek Ranch. She and the rest of the staff were wonderful. Ride was very interesting with incredible views. Horses were great, and worked well for our group which included some first timers. Our whole group loved the experience!

The horseback riding was amazing! So beautiful and the horses were great thanks to Gail our guide on our ride!

My husband and I went with two friends for the hour long horse back riding. BUCKET LIST! We had Abigail who was newer to the ranch, and when our friends horse started to get off track she handled it so gracefully and well. She kept us excited, and chatting the whole time I felt like a pro rider by the end. I will absolutely be doing this again if I come back to Jackson.

I signed up for a 2-hour horse trail ride at Spring Creek Ranch and little did I know it would lead to disaster, surgery and end my vacation after two days. For my tour I was given the last horse available, Boomer. He was a big horse. Very little instruction was given before the ride. Quickly during the tour I discovered that Boomer seemed to be an older and slower horse..... ....as several times the tour trail leader had to slow down so that Boomer could catch up with the rest of the group. This was a troubling sign and it also seemed that Boomer had difficulty going up the hills. About 10 minutes into the ride my saddle slid to the left and then slid to the right where it felt that I was almost riding sideways. At this point the horse started bucking like in a rodeo...and going down the side of the hill and I yelled for a guide..... ....I recall hearing someone yell "Get off!" so don't know how...but ended up being thrown off of Boomer into a muddy hill of the foothills of the Grand Tetons. I landed on my back and it appeared that I had broken my finger. My back was hurting like crazy and I was in shock. A guide told me to lay still and not move....I laid there and saw Boomer just standing there and wondered why the saddle was not properly fastened.... ....I was in pain and the guide actually asked if I wanted medical attention. WTH! I'm on my back in pain and can't move my finger and am seriously asked that question. I told him of course and I needed medical attention. He called rescue. Because we were in a remote area, had to climb a hill with a guide's assistance and ride with sheriff down the hill to the hotel to meet the ambulance.... ....arrived at the hospital and was immediately taken to the ER. After waiting on CT/CAT Scans, I was informed that I had a fractured vertebra and the spine doc wanted an additional MRI to see if emergency surgery was needed. Thank God and very fortunately back surgery was not needed and I had movement in my legs and no neck injury. It was later determined that I had ruptured the flexor tendon in my finger and required surgery. Vacation over!!!!..... .....While I was in the hospital for 3 days, not one person from Spring Creek checked on me to see how I was doing. However, as I was waking up from surgery on my second day in the hospital, the recovery room nurse asked if I had the guide's jacket and his tin of Skoal tobacco mixed in with my belongings! Mind you that I'm waking up from surgery, groggy and this is one of the first things that I'm asked. WTH!! .... ....It was unbelievable to me that the first concern involving the tour operator that reached me was apparently to inquire whether the guide's personal belongings had been recovered. I found that incredibly insensitive and deeply disappointing. Regardless of what happened to the guide's belongings, I would have expected Spring Creek to first show concern for the customer who had been seriously injured on its tour.... .....When I returned home, my barber saw me in a back brace with a bandaged hand and asked what happened. I told him and he said if that happened to him, then they would have been serving horse ribs in Wyoming! LOL. Seriously, based on my ride experience and in my opinion, Boomer should have never been giving rides to customers based on how slow he was and difficulty he had climbing hills. Also, in my opinion, my horses saddle was not properly secured, and I believe the tour operator was negligent in allowing the ride to proceed under those circumstances..... ....this was a lengthy review, but wanted to share my experience of the Spring Creek 2- hour trail ride and warn others about a horse named Boomer. This was the worst vacation experience of my life and I now have 3-4 months of recovery and physical therapy as a result. And to me this tour operator seems to care more about a tin of Skoal than a customer that was seriously hurt on their tour....definitely NOT recommending Spring Creek Ranch!

The views are the best !! The rooms are a different story ! They are individually owned to it depends which one you get !! BUT DO NOT EVER ACCEPT ROOOM 3172 . DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY , they don’t care about guests. Look at what the place looks like !! The cleaning services are the worse !! Hairs in the shower !! Left over boiled eggs in the ridge !! Used toilet paper !!
