As an IHCL shareholder and an admirer of architecture, I recently visited the Taj Rambagh Palace to check out their Polo Bar and have lunch at The Rajput Room. The food and ambience were excellent. However, the overall experience left me shocked and extremely disappointed. After lunch, I was given a casual property tour by Mr. Manvreet Singh from the front desk. His tour was clearly disinterested, but I still appreciated the chance to see the palace and it's artwork. Unexpectedly, I was later confronted by hotel security, who insisted I had broken "security protocol" — falsely accusing me of asking sensitive information about US Embassy guests and claiming I had entered the property at 11 AM (when I had in fact entered at 1 PM). Shockingly, Mr. Manvreet Singh lied to the security team right in front of me, fabricating allegations about me that were completely false. His earlier casual remarks about dignitaries who had stayed there were suddenly twisted against me. This behavior is not just a violation of basic hospitality — it is an outright betrayal of the values Tata Group was built on. It saddens me to see the colonial arrogance still alive among some of the staff in a brand that was founded specifically to counter such prejudice. Following this experience, I will be moving my loyalty elsewhere and divesting from IHCL. The legacy of Taj deserves better stewards than this. I hope the management reflects seriously on how easily a guest's trust — and a brand's reputation — can be destroyed through thoughtless actions.
