Complaint and feedback on Rambagh Palace reservation and cancellation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 22 hours ago

I am writing this review with regards to my frustrating experience booking and canceling my reservations at Rambagh Palace. My family of 5 was planning a trip to India in Nov 2026. We were excited about the possibility of staying at a historic palace hotel during this trip. After much research, we decided on Rambagh Palace in Jaipur. We were planning the trip more than one year in advance and the only option was to book directly with the hotel. The correspondence with the hotel was chaotic. Every email exchange was responded by a different service representative, and nobody read what was said in the email chain. They kept asking me for booking details repeatedly. After much struggle and multiple phone calls, I placed a deposit of USD 3599.74 on Aug 25, 2025 for the reservation of a palace room and a historical suite. The booking confirmation indicated that it will be fully refunded in the event of cancellation if it is more than 45 days before the date of arrival. I felt it was safe to put down the deposit; but I was wrong. On Jan 22nd, we had a change in plans and I reached out to the reservation team via phone that I wish to cancel the reservations of the two rooms. The cancellation was promptly responded with a confirmation email and cancellation #. On the phone, they told me that I will receive the refund within 8 to 10 days. On Feb 4th, I still have not seen the credit in my Chase credit card (the original mode of payment), I replied to the cancellation email to enquire about the status. Someone named Vaidehi Rathore acknowledged the receipt and said they will refund ASAP. When I asked what does ASAP mean? Someone named Nachiket Singh Rathore replied that it is now 20 working days from the email response. Note that each email response from their reservation team is signed off by a different person. I asked to be notified when the refund is processed. Nothing happened. On Feb 18th, I emailed again to enquire about the status. There was no reply. I called their 1800 number and India direct line multiple times until I was able to speak to someone in the Rambagh reservation team, I did not ask for the name of the person. They promised to reply. For 5 days, nothing happened. I called again on Feb 23rd, this time I spoke to a lady named Snehal Sikawal. She told me that my refund is being processed. I asked her when will it be credited, she replied to me on WhatsApp that it will be within 6 to 7 days. I requested for an email reply for the record. No email came. I reached out on WhatsApp again the next day. On Feb 24th, I received an email from a representative named Ravi Kothari. He claimed that they have trouble refunding to my original payment method and promised to refund me through wire transfer and asked for the wire instructions. In that email, a credit manager Sandeep Raina was copied. I replied with the details requested and Ravi instructed Sandeep Raina to process my refund. On Feb 25th, I woke up to an email from Sandeep asking me for the same wire details that I have provided in the email in which he was copied. I provided the details AGAIN and asked for the refund to be processed immediately. I did not receive a reply to the email on Feb 25th. Today is March 2nd. It has been total of 27 working days since the cancellation of my reservation. I was told it takes 8 to 10 days to process my refund. As of today, there is no refund to my bank account. There is no email reply. There is total silence. If you are the Taj Customer Service Team reading this feedback, I hope you will do something proactively to refund me the money. If you are a tourist planning to make a reservation at Rambagh Palace, think twice if you will have the slightest possibility of needing to cancel your reservation. You will go through months of frustration to correspond with them and hope that you will receive your refund. **I still have not received my refund.** =========== Just to clarify, I haven't had a chance to stay at the hotel, but I had the most frustrating experience making a reservation and then cancellation. I had to pick a date and indicate who I went with in order to submit this review. I still haven't received the refund on the pre-payment made on the reservations. This is not the experience that I expect from a luxury hotel that charges premium rate and promises 5 star experience.

Excellent Taj Service, as always

My husband and I spent 1 night at Rambagh to celebrate our anniversary. After we checked in, Diya showed us the beautiful property and asked us if we were there for anything special. We mentioned our anniversary. The next morning, when we checked out, Diya, Nimish, Himanshi and Khateeb surprised us with a cake and a beautiful folder with our photographs. We were extremely touched by this gesture. Truly Taj hospitality at its best. A couple of days later, we wanted to go with some friends to have dinner at Steam, who said they were booked for the next week. Diya was kind enough to get us reservations for that evening. A special mention to Kartik at Steam who gave us such wonderful service. Looking forward to coming back to Rambagh on our next trip to India.

Gem of Jaipur - Rambagh Palace

Our stay at Rambagh Palace was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The palace architecture, the lush gardens, and the beautifully restored interiors truly make you feel as though you’ve stepped into a different era of grandeur and grace. The service was impeccable — every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, always attentive yet never intrusive. The rooms were luxurious, spacious, and thoughtfully detailed, blending heritage charm with modern comforts perfectly. Dining at the palace was equally memorable. The food was exquisite, presentation stunning, and the overall ambiance magical especially in the evenings when the palace lights up so beautifully. Rambagh Palace is not just a hotel; it’s an unforgettable experience. If you are looking for heritage, luxury, warmth, and flawless hospitality, this is truly one of the finest places to stay. We cannot wait to return. Especially thanks to team Members: Vikas, Himanshi, Khateeb & Nagendra They made our 30th Anniversary very very special. Their exceptional hospitality made our trip to Jaipur and stay at Rambagh worthwhile.
