We had a wonderful family stay at The Dharmawangsa Jakarta last weekend. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. The butler service was attentive, warm, and genuinely made us feel at home throughout our stay. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, offering a timeless sense of luxury with elegant Indonesian architecture, spacious rooms, and peaceful surroundings. Every detail reflects the high standards that The Dharmawangsa is known for. The facilities were excellent, especially for families. We thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel provided the perfect escape from the busy city. The dining experience was also outstanding, with delicious food and attentive service. What truly sets The Dharmawangsa apart is its people. Every member of the staff greeted us with genuine warmth and professionalism, making our stay memorable from beginning to end. A special thank you to our butlers, Kinan and Irwan, for their thoughtful and personalized service. Their attention to detail made our stay even more enjoyable. I completed a three-night stay at The Dharmawangsa and left genuinely shocked by the condition of the property. The hotel is marketed as classic and luxurious, but the facilities I experienced felt neglected and far below what should be acceptable at this price level. The lifts had a strong stale, damp smell throughout my stay. The corridor carpets were worn, frayed, and visibly dirty. The room itself was not much better. The bathroom felt like it had not been meaningfully renovated in decades, with old fixtures, poor drainage, and a persistent stale urine odor around the floor and tiles. The air-conditioning was also inconsistent. The service staff were the one redeeming feature. They were polite and tried to maintain a professional standard, but staff cannot fix a property that needs major capital investment. The issue here is not attitude or hospitality. The issue is the physical condition of the hotel. This is not “heritage luxury.” It is an aging property trading on its old reputation. Until the hotel undergoes a serious renovation, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere in Jakarta.
