Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta

Our second visit to the Jakarta FS (I’m from the UK, partner from Jakarta). The whole team is great, naturally welcoming but going above and beyond in room service, the bar, and breakfast (we had custom embroidered room cloths for our side tables!) Specifically - Bunga, Tino, and Raka from house keeping, and Riska / Febrin from the Nautilus bar were excellent and made us feel very at home. We wouldn’t consider anywhere else in Jakarta!

We had to stay in this hotel 3 nights. Every time we come to our room we found a black thread beneath the door. My daughter saw a lot of snaps/tictocs video that it’s how the women’s room are tagged for the purposes of theft, rape, and the like. We didn’t like it really. I set up the alarm system from the cups and glasses in front of the door for night for the case if anybody breaks in to us. As we finished our business earlier we left as soon as we can. At the reception if could not take our deposit cash back without showing the receipt-at the same time it was me who insisted at the check-in that they write it down, they said that everything is on the system, and they do not need to write it down… Without men/husband you feel unsafe even in the Four Seasons.

The Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta is, without question, the finest urban hotel in Indonesia. From start to finish, every single detail is executed with absolute perfection. The most impressive part is the staff’s intuition; it truly feels as though the team can read your mind. The value you receive in return for your stay far exceeds the price. Final Verdict: I am not sure how they achieve this level of excellence consistently, but it is indeed the only destination worth staying at in Jakarta. If you seek perfection, look no further. PS. A fantastic suits hotel. Our room consisted a huge living area with lounger and writing desk and an equally large sleeping area with a massive king bed. Bathroom was equally spacious and clean. Gleaming marble with free standing tub and the largest shower one can hope for. Private toilet in its own closet. Double doors can close off the living and bath areas when sleeping which made the room more intimate when sleeping. The pool was great and not busy at all. We managed to relax twice in the double cabana style lounge beds and both timese were served welcome drinks. Great service at both the ground floor restaurant (we had breakfast and dinner there) and the Italian restaurant on the top floor (we ate twice there for dinner). Kudos to the young chef at the italian restaurant for the warmth (he greeted us at the table both times and spent a long time chatting with us) and skilled cooking. The servers were all well trained as well. On the ground floor - noodle station and the dessert area were our favourite. Bar - nice but they allowed smoking which we did not appreciate, and the temp was a little too cold, although they did give us scarfs to wrap ourselves. The only negative was the lobby did not have a lot of comfy sofas. But this is a minor complaint only. Special acknowedgement to the concierge Michael as he took good care of us, and Reggy, our server at the ground floor restaurant.

The location is great - in the heart of the international area surrounded by various consulates, although we only stayed on a stop over between flights, this is a beautiful property, well maintained, secure, and with lovely amenities. If you have stayed in a four seasons property elsewhere you probably paid 4-10x as much as you would here for a similar room. This is due to the adjusted cost of living in Jakarta, but for western travelers, staying here is an easy decision and great value for your dollar. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, with beautiful touches and details everywhere, in room welcome items, plus a beautiful selection of mini bar snack and drink items, room service, and excellent dining options. The staff and service are fabulous, not perfect, and not strictly western, but the kind hospitality and care is evident in every staff person no matter what their station. The room itself was just gorgeous - a suite with full bathroom, shower, soaking tub, bidet toilet, incredible finishes and fixtures, everything worked as expected. The bed, bedding and pillows were scrumptious, and we took advantage of the robes and slippers, and the many bath amenities provided. Visiting at the end of a long Indonesian adventure with a good deal of camping an not a lot of running water, we were feeling very grateful and pampered. The dining for breakfast was in a beautiful space and the offerings were very tasty. The dining in their Alto restaurant was delicious and artistic, the views from the restaurant were great, there was a slow down in service during our meal, but overall we were very happy. Thought it was a little chilly up there with the Aircon so bring a shawl! Again the staff make the place stand out - the servers we had were thoughtful, and open to chat and made us feel welcome and at home. The concierge staff use WhatsApp for easy communication and airport pickup and SilverBird Taxi were seamless, professional and comfortable. We are heading back in a week and can't wait for the mini luxury vacation on our way back out to Raja Ampat.
