A real gem for the beach and the staff.

Previously Melia Cayo Guillermo, re opened dec 2024. I did visited it in also in 2019, and again now in april 2025. It was closed for a while , almost a year, and staff worked very hard to clean it up. DIVE CENTER few steps away ;-) Great for : Beach is amazing, long, clean, seaweed is pickup every morning, new beach chairs. Long walks possibles in both directions with amazing sand. Pool is great, clean, and cute with little bridges Staff is absolutely amazing, kind, smiling and hard working. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. ( Yurguy and his team ) Lobby is clean Looby bar has a good drink selection Pool bar is 24h Bedroom clean and smell nice, with new AC unit and new mini fridge Massages are amazing at good price, with a twist of physio therapy ( Carlos ) Okay / Need improvements : Music a bit too loud at the pool in my opinion Front desk / no one has no change , difficult to find change to tip the staff Bathtub in my bedroom is old , need replacement Missing toaster / toast / eggs / potatoes in breakfast Food are expected for Cuba, bring your favorite essentials seasonnings Need more groundskeepers picking up flying out plastic cups ( very windy week) Got a wifi ticket 4h duration, for free, can use it in the lobby. Renewable on demand. Safes in the room are supposed to work with same key as main door, but it won't work. Bring a small lock and store your valuables in your luggage. Not great for : Public bathrooms : Very clean but sometimes missing toilet paper and are not flushing all the time ( I had to switch stalls ) Plumbing might need attention and water flow seems to be momentarily cutted off. Also the doors knobs not closing properly. Conclusion : This is not a recent built resort, actually it is probably 25 years old. So don't expect the same fancyness as competitors But staff makes it very enjoyable. Will go again as it ticks my bucket list for great beach and dive center accessible daily, IMPORTANT : Bring Change ( small bills for tips ) USD or CAD. Bring lock for luggage in replacement of safebox Bring your essential seasonnings

Great!

Really enjoyed my stay here. The beach is amazing. There’s a very lovely man who sets your bed up for you with your towel. And offers coconut water. We wanted to tip him on the last day but he wasn’t there when we got back to the beach. But he was fab. The entertainment team were lovely and enthusiast even though the hotel was not that busy. And they arranged a trip to the nightclub cave for us which is a must. And they had some good singers play whilst we were there. The bar. closest to reception serves the best pins colada’s! And the bar man is very free flowing with them. The food is good by Cuban standards and considering there can be food shortages in the country there was a good variety. The rooms are as good as I would expect for Cuba. Comfortable mattresses. Clean. A fridge included. Would return if I ever go back to Cayo G.

I just returned last week from staying at Camino del Mar. Sorry, this is a long one. I have been there many many times over the last 10 years. I had very little expectations seeing as it has not yet been picked up by a supplier. The staff fought hard to get it reopened and worked hard on getting it ready to do so. They have done a fantastic job. The hotel looks great, the grounds are well kept and everything is so clean. The warmth and hospitality of the staff are A+++. Yes it is their job, but I've been to a lot of hotels in my career and have not experienced that genuine feeling of it is more than just a job to them. Maykel Salas welcomes you as you arrive and takes good care if your bags. Not too much has changed with the facilities. There is a brand new beach bar, double in size from the last one. It has a grill area for lunch. Edel González helped build it and planted a raised bed garden for mint so there are no shortage of mojitos. The kids club has been converted to what may be a clubhouse or bungalow in the future, not sure on that. The hotel is currently 18+, so no need for a kids club building. The second lobby bar where Ernest now stands, is now a full functioning bar daily. Alex and Amaury tend the bar there and make the best drinks. Ask for a Banana Mama. The original lobby bar is also still operating with Mileydis Gonzales making the best Cappuccinos. The pool bar has all new tables and chairs and is still serving up sandwiches and French fries. The food, yes I know everyone wants to hear about the food. Well, it was the best food I have had in Cuba in a long time. No exaggeration. There were eggs, bacon, butter, beef, chicken, pork, fish, fresh vegetables. Now we know in Cuba things change constantly with the supply chain, one week there are eggs and the next week none. So every visit will be different. The chefs were catering to guests if there was a dietary restriction. One couple did not eat pork and preferred a bit of hot spice with their food. They never complained, they were just inquiring. The rest of the week the chef had cooked them a separate dish before any meat was on the grill and kept it warm until they arrived. He even brought them a little spice from home. That is not just doing your job, that is a passion. Alex the bartender had brought someone chamomile tea from home, and anise from his garden to share. At the Cuban BBQ lunch, where there is usually a pig roast, they had roasted chickens, as there was not enough guests to get a pig. No big deal I just mentioned that it was too bad. At dinner that night i was shocked when one of the cooks surprised me with grilled pork and glazed onions he made me since I didn't get it at lunch. There was nightly entertainment, great bands and singers. Daytime games and beach and pool volleyball were very popular. Paumier Dioslan is doing a great job as the entertainment manager. As for the infrastructure, no the AC in the buffet has not yet been fixed. The units are there waiting to be installed. I only found it a bit warm one morning. But really, it's winter, 26 on average, not super hot. So just eat and go outside. The water pressure was still up and down depending on the time of day and where your room was. I was able to shower everyday. The beach as always was great. If you like smaller, friendlier resorts, this one is worth the visit.

This hotel must shot down and not worth it even to pay $1 on your vacation, the worst food ever you can think to eat is in that hotel will take a fact, I will never recommend to anyone to visit this hotel, not even 1 star rate worth it in the whole wide world rate , please stay away from this hotel, food is disgusting.
